Kaylee looked longingly into his deep blue eyes. They weren't the only part of him that she liked looking at, course not. But she loved those eyes of his the best. She loved those. She had learned to love and hate his eyes. Were they blind to her? Kaylee wasn't really very vain, but considered herself preety enough. Wasn't she comely enough for him? Were his eyes blind to her. He blinked, and so did she. She adored those eyes, and she damned those eyes to hell. Her back stiffened, and she blinked again. She looked back into his eyes, those pools of saphire light. They stared back at her, with an intensity only matched by her own. Tianna, she thought. Oh god, I want him. I need him. Does he even notice me?!?! "Yes," said River in a small voice, sitting on her left. It was one of her more lucid periods, which was, quite frankly, a blessing. "He does." Kaylee looked at her quizacally. River looked her square in the eye, and said to her, "your practically shouting them out." *** Simon stared into Kaylees eyes. He loved them, reveled in their glow, with an intensity that he had never had before coming onboard Serenity. For eight months, he had held back on his ravenous desires, for her, much as he wanted to. But, by the same token, he knew that she wanted him, badly. He didn't, because of what could happen to him. He wasn't worried about himself, not really. But he knew, that he and River may have to up and leave, much as he wanted to stay with Kaylee. Whatwith all the wanted posters, feds, and he and Mal at loggerheads, it could very well happen. Or worse, he could give in, and then be killed by some trophy hunter looking for more money. Agent Lawrence Dobson and Jubal Early had taught him that lesson. "Boob," said River in a classic little sister voice. The two continued to stare longingly into eachothers eyes, everyone except River continued to eat soundly, oblivious to the desperate matters of the heart that were going on next to them. Jayne said, "Kaylee, pass the salt, wouldya?"
