Simon was practically skipping down the path. That didn't happen all that much, even after he was with Kaylee. But today, he skipped. In his hand, he held a cage by the handle. It was wrapped in a gauzy fabric, with air holes cut in the top. He stepped onto a hill, and found Serenity not a hundred yards away. He searched for a good spot to hide his present for Kaylee. He found a little clearing, surrounded by hip-high bushes. He put the cage into the middle of it, making sure that no one could find it. He took off for Serenity. He was dissapointed to not find Kaylee in the cargobay. Must be in the engine room, he thought. He set off at a fast pace. *** Kaylee was standing in the engine room, having just finished fixing a power coupling. She was surprised, but not unpleasently, when Simon came in behind her, slipping his arms under her and clasping them together at her waist. He kissed her neck passionately. She purred contentedly, and placed a hand on his cheek, which had grown a fine sheen of stubble. She giggled. "Not growing a beard, are you?" Simon smiled "Nah, but it would go great with my new criminal mastermind visage." She cooed, "well, I like ya just as plain ol' Simon." She grinned mischeviously. "So, you get me a present?" Simon smiled, used toher up frontness. "You'll just have to wait'n see." She frowned at him, and a sadder sight he'd never seen. "Oh, all right. Wait for me in the cargobay, theres something I need to get from our room." She smiled silkily, which sent chills up and down his spine. She hung a left out the door, and he a right. *** Kaylee was bouncing on the balls of her feet in anticipation. Her Simon always treated her to something good, whether it be sex or presents. She smiled at the thought. Her Simon. She finally had him, and wasn't like to let go anytime soon. She glowed inside when she thought of him, his blue eyes, his alabaster skin... The skin in question showed itself, coming through the door, followed by a blanket. Kaylee giggeled again, and they set off. She wore a loose skirt, which riled him up to no end. Jayne and Mal observed them discreetly from the catwalk over the 'bay. "They goin' off ruttin' again?" asked Jayne. Mal sighed. "They weren' supposed to, but I guess they are." "Well, you'll hear 'em when they do. Girl makes a gorram racket." *** "Come on, just a little bit further down the road," said Simon. Kaylee beat at his chest playfully. Along the way, she had "Accidentally" unbuttoned his shirt. "C'mon Simon, what is it? Y'know I ain't got the patience you got!" He smiled. "Yes, i've seen that first hand." They both laughed, and Simon turned to her. "Okay, heres the surprise part. Close your eyes." Kaylee pouted at him. "Don't worry, It'll be good, I promise." "Okay, Dr. Tam. But it'd better be good, or I might withhold my...services." They both laughed, because they knew that she wouldn't do that. She closed her eyes, and put a hand over it for good measure. He grabbed her shoulders, and led her to the clearing. She sneaked a peak, and saw only grass. Simon guided her until she stood just in front of the gift. He stepped back silently. She opened her eyes. She looked up, right and left. Then, she looked down. She saw the gift, and gave a kind of squeal of happiness. She kneeled down, and tore off the wrapping. In a moment, she saw that it was a cage. Then, she saw the hamster inside. It had a large white spot over one eye, but the rest was a golden-brown hue. Simon came and knelt beside her. "Y'know, he doesn't have a name yet." Kaylee looked thoughtful for a minute. "Simon," she finally decided. "I'll call him Simon." "Not a replacement, I hope?" said Simon mischevously. Kaylee laughed, and knocked him onto the blanket, which he'd set up behind them. She rested her head on his chest. "Never," she soothed. He grinned, and moved a hand toward her skirt. Later on, they lay naked against eachother. "You had this planned out," stated Kaylee lazily, finding Simon much more comfy than any blanket. "Thought crossed my mind," he murmured softly. The hamster took a sip of water from the dispenser, and started to run in its wheel. *** Jayne looked at Mal. "Yep, their ruttin', I can 'ear 'em from here." "Thanks, Jayne," said Mal.
