From today's SciFi Wire at scifi.com:

Quote:

James Marsters, who played Spike on The WB's canceled Angel, guest-stars as the father of the Penn Badgley character in the Nov. 3 episode of the frog network's new series The Mountain, TV Guide Online reported.

Okay, I guess I can watch the evil WB to see him. But just for that episode!!

ETA: The Mountain is moving its timeslot to Sundays from 9-10 EST starting Oct. 31. Note the change!

Hey, a reason to watch a crappy WB show. Of course, I've never watched The Mountain so it could be a half decent show for all I know.

So I'm guessing the episode has already been shot. Dang. The Mountain films in Whistler, BC. James Marsters was in Canada and I didn't know about it!

I've been boycotting that show specifically because it's what the frog brains put in Angel's Wednesday night time slot. I guess I'll have to watch it this one time to see James.

Do you think buffy.nu will have the episode (or just James' scenes) available for download?

I'll suffer through a lame-ass WB show to see James. And yeah, I wonder what he's going to look like. I may have to watch just for that.

P.S. Hi Priscellie! I guessed your "Crazy Ivan" charade, remember?

Good to meet you monitor-to-monitor after meeting you in person, Rhyme! *clutches Buffy Season 6 set and squeals delightedly* Actually, the Crazy Ivan wasn't mine. Don't quite remember who came up with that one...

And yes, to avoid going off topic (not sure how seriously you guys take OT posts here), it'll be quite interesting to see how James will look on "The Mountain." I think it's pretty safe to say he won't be going platinum again in the near future!

James Marsters is playing somebody's DAD?! He's a wonderful actor... but I'm not sure I'm ready to see him in a "dad" role. Far too regular for our larger than life Vampyr With a Soul II.

Of course I'll still watch...

So what't the name again of The WB's newly minted, daring, surprising and imaginative new offering? Errr... "Dawson's Mountain"... or, sumthin' like that...?

Haha, you don't like the show much? I have to admit it took me a while to watch it (Recorded it on tape so i could put it off) but I have to say I've been entertained. Though I'll admit I have seen similar plot/storylines in my many years of watching television, lol.

I tried to watch part of the pilot and part of last weeks episode but it didn't keep my attention. Plus it is in the timeslot that Angel was once (and still should be) in.

I did tape the episode this week and may watch it. Or may not, since I think I may have taped Without a Trace over it last night. Oops.

Maybe the James Marsters episode will change my mind.

The Mountain changes its timeslot to Sundays from 9-10 pm EST starting Oct. 31.

So maybe that kinda makes it okay to watch it in that time period instead of in Angel's.

So he was on this Sunday, and rather than start a new thread I thought I'd just respond to my old one. I'm so S-M-R-T.

I honestly tried to watch this show before, thinking that perhaps there was going to be some backstory I might need to know before James came on. There wasn't, (which perhaps gives you an indication of the writing on this show) and although I'm glad we got to see him on TV again so soon -- this show sucks, man!

He played the father of the curly-headed kid, (the actor's name is Penn Badgely or Badgley) and the dad is pretty messed up. It is kind of interesting to see JM as a tattooed, alcoholic, Shakespeare-quoting failure of a father, but on this show? Ugh.

And doesn't that sound like an interesting character? If they show him again maybe he will be, but if there's a next time I'm going to have to tape it to wade through the rest of the crap. His being on the show isn't going to get me to watch; it's going to get me to tape and fast forward until he pops up.

Jimmy, I love ya man, but find something better to do!

I can't believe anyone would tape an episode and only watch the parts with JM in...

Unfortunately for the writers of The Mountain, that's exactly the type of drama it is. Think of a soap opera without converging plots, and there you have it. The storyline JM was in had nothing to do with most of the other characters on the show.

But note I said next time, if he was on, I would tape it. Last night I suffered through the whole show to see the bits he was in.

Well if it's that bad don't watch it at all. What's the point in watching a few scraps of an episode just for JM?
