okay, in the angel episode "awakening", wes, angel, connor and cordelia go to a temle to get a sword to battle the beast. they come up against a hallway lined wtih bells that, when rung, will trigger a mass of wooden stakes to come out of the walls. i never noticed this before, but when they see the spikes, angel says "wood. why did it have to be wood.". wes says "we have to get through without ringing any of the bells." and then cordelia says "i knew you two would get me into trouble one day". is she referring to what i think she is referring to? she is not talking about angel and wes, is she?

I just took it as a joke:
because they get her into trouble every week...

or she gets THEM into trouble w/her visions...
anyway they are all in trouble
all the time

acutally, i kind of thought she was refering to a portion of the female anatomy because she had to maneuver around the bells.

That's the way I took it, too. Talking about "the twins" as Angelus refered to them.

Maybe, but it got the point across and Angelus always tries to get a rise out of whoever he is talking to.

LOL
Est120, I was just rewatching this episode and you are absolutely right...
I had forgotten that aspect (if I had ever noticed it) of the scene.

such a funny episode, just at the point you are thinking
'God this is SO lame' THEN you discover it is all a dream.

I never noticed it either, but you're definitely right. Huh. That's pretty funny.

That's no excuse for the lameness though.

It's funny, because it's all in Angel's head. OF COURSE Angel is lame. Spike has said so many times. ;)

So it just made sense to me. I don't think there would be another way to do it when it's from inside's Angel's head. Angel is such a huge dork, I think that it was very accurate in depicting what Angel would think was a perfect day.

probably the most tangible manifestation of angel's dorkiness is his dancing from season 1. HI-larious.

But he's supposed to believe it's real, therefore it should play out as realistically as possible.

He had to think of a perfect day. And by definition a perfect day is impossible to achieve anyways. Part of the spell could have been to make him think it was real, so I really believed that Angel believed. And if his fantasy was a hokey Indiana Jones-wannabe... well, that's just Angel being himself.

That's just a poor excuse for writing a bad story. Fair enough if you think that's how Angel thinks (personally I don't) but you can have lameness without it totally swallowing up the show and eclipsing the episode.

Cordy was talking about her breasts. Do you really think that her saying something like that about her body is that out of character? I don't. I think that part of it was believable to Angel because it was something that he could totally imagine Cordy saying.

maybe that's just because some of us think Angel isn't the brightest crayon in the box and other's don't. I like my Angel kinda dumb and not really of this world. and this EP is just perfect in that regard. the story Angel comes up with to make everything all right and himself perfectly happy is cheesy and lame and stupid and it fits perfectly with my view of Angels mind and how it works. just look at the trip to Pylea, that's loads of dumb or let's say simple Angel and I loved that as well.

but they aren't completely consistent with Angel and his mind over all of the 8 seasons he's been around. he's switched from stupid to smart and some things in between so often it's hard to keep track. so every opinion has it's EPs to back it up. kinda like Buffy, she's pretty inconsistently smart as well.

whereas we all know that Willow and Fred and Wes and Giles are smart as hell. and Gunn and Lorne and Xander and Anya are more the streetwise types with not so much of the book-learning smarts. they have other qualities and it's ok that way. but with Angel and Buffy you never know for sure and that's a bit confusing.
