CANTTAKESKY

If anyone can fill me in on the gossip behind the scenes, I'd appreciate it. I heard Glenn Quinn left because of story reasons, but it just seems so odd to kill off a cast member in mid-season, and the 1st season to boot. What happened?

I assume Charisma left because she had a baby, but then I saw on some old forum that she supposedly had a tif with Joss and maybe they weren't on speaking terms. Does anyone know what's that about?

Doyle's death was planned from the beginning. Just part of the glorious evilness that is Joss.

The rumors are rampant about Charisma and most of them probably have no truth.

DIETCOKE

Yep, I heard it was planned to kill Doyle off too. Of, course he died in real life which would have messed things up anyway....

Never heard a straight answer about Charisma. I didn't like the direction her character was going so I wasn't really sad when she left. Who knows.....

Doyle was killed off mid-season because it was something that Joss had wanted to do since the very beginning of Buffy.

-In the episode Welcome to the Hellmouth, the character of Jesse was originally intended to be in the opening credits. That way, viewers would think he was 'safe' from harm, making his death later in the episode that much more shocking. However, they didn't have the money to make two sets of opening credits, so they had to settle with making him an obviously disposable guest star. He took it a step further with Doyle. Not only was Glenn Quinn in the opening credits, assuring the audience that he was safe from harm, but they gave us time to get to know the character and grow to love him. When he died so abruptly, fans were shocked.

-As for Charisma...the lady had a baby. 'Nuff said.

Simon: You...you came for us.
Mal: You're on my crew.
Simon: Right. I guess I just didn't...you don't even like me.
Mal: You're on my crew. Why we still talking about this?

-Safe

REAVERMADNESS

Glenn Quinn had issues (problems). Joss tried everything he could to help, but some people just can't be helped. Joss (and the cast/crew of Angel) put up with a lot and they all seemed to like him... but, some folks are bent on self destruction. Doyle was meant to die but Glenn sped that along. That's my understanding anyhow.

When I die I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandpa. Not screaming and yelling like everyone else in the car he was driving.

And you know that for sure? That's pretty heavy stuff to say if you don't.

These are very strong allegations to make, but i had definately heard them before.
I was definately lead to beleive that this was the reason for his departure from the show. If you look back at how he let the show, it didn't really make that much sense if joss had always planned ti to be then that he was leaving.

It seems odd to me that he never reappeared in any episodes, even as a ghost or a memory.

I also do not know of anything he was in afterwards, altho im positive that tonnes of people will reply with the thousands of stuff he was in following angel.

There is also alot of rumours and secrecy surrounding his death, with some of them invloving drug overdoses. I am not saying this is the truth, just that other sources have claimed this to be so.

As for charisma, she'd had a baby, her part wasn't as good as it had been, and she probably didn't want to be tied down to one thing for her whole carear. If the stories of a fallout between her and joss are true then she aint gonna be WW then is she? ne how

"That's an interesting opinion that you appear to have founded on a huge pile of horse manure there--- they all shouted!"

Well, Joss and David have both gone on record as saying they tried to help him, Roseanne talked about how Glenn was depressed on set and used drugs to escape and Glenn died of a drugs overdose so it's pretty much all there.

This was not entirely true in that when Cordy comes back for her last appearance in season 5, she watches a tape of him and says something like "The first to go".

Also, I read an intreview by Joss not a week ago (it was older than that) about Cordy's death. He said that Cordy's death was written before Charisma was informed (he also said this is how he always does it when he actually totally gets rid of characters--which is rare for stars). He said she was dissapointed but took the news well.

I'll try to find the interview.

"First soldier down." *sniff*

He also appeared in some of the video footage they used in Birthday. I mean, obviously it was old footage from the show and not filmed specially, but it was still nice to see him again!
