Two of Angel's season 5 eps, Not Fade Away and Smile Time have been nominated for 2005 Hugo Awards. Way to go WB(idiots)!!!!

(edited to be clear that the WB sucks)

More like, "Way to go Joss and co." Giving the WB credit for anything Angel related is, in my mind, like giving Fox credit for anything having to do with Serenity. Actually, I feel like smacking myself for even suggesting that as a possibility.

For those who'd like to see the lists: http://www.interaction.worldcon.org.uk/pressr31.htm.

Being nominated is a great honor and a significant acheivement. It'll be tough to win, though; that's an impressive lineup...

I liked Smile Time but it's being nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation Short Form and it's not dramatic.

Yeah, um, that was sarcasm. I was making fun of The WB for being short sighted and killing the show too soon.

Funny with the ironic side, right? Seriously, I have absolutely no idea how WB could be so stupid as to cancel Angel when it was gaining momentum as a solitary show.

Ah, well. TV execs can be really stupid. We know that now.

Personally, I just can't choose between these two episodes. They're Joss great.

Sincerly can't wait till the Big Damn Movie's released.

I read in a previous thread regarding Angel's cancelation, that it was really just one exec that had something against Joss or the show, that cancelled it. Later when it was discovered that it was personal, that exec got axed(unfortunatelly not in the literal sense), which is kinda nice, but it doesn't bring the show back. Oh well, Maybe we'll get some Spike/Giles/Willow/Xander the pirate/Wes/Gunn/Illyria/Faith movies or shows. There are still a lot of great characters with stories to be told, given interest by Joss and Co. to tell them, I'm sure the Fans will have interest in seeing them.
Yeah I know how we left Wes but Given Illyria's time warpping thing, I say there's hope.

The exec's name was Jordan Levin. And his name actually showed up albeit briefly to succeed Gail Berman at fox, thankfully they went in another direction. I think with the new head at WB, Janollari, the Angel movies have a decent chance of being made. Janollari has reportedly expressed interest in the project. Joss has said he wants to do the movies but that he would most likely not be the one to write and direct them.

on a side note:
I've just looked at the competition for thost two Angel EPs and seen the pilot of 'Lost' in there. isn't 'Lost' a normal/realistical/non-fantasy drama? I haven't seen it and wasn't planning on watching it since the synopsis just said it was about a bunch of people stranded on an island or somesuch. so why is its pilot in the list of TV EPs nomminated for the Hugo award? the Hugo award is about Sci-Fi and Fantasy, right?

and steep competition there is '33' was a supperb show as was pretty muth the rest of the new Galactica and Heroes was a really great piece of lets call it classical sci-fi.

and with 'Dramatic Presentation' they just mean in video form. there's only one Hugo award for all of TV per year and that makes two Angel nomminations even more of an achievement. there are only 5 nomination s for TV EPs and 2 of them are ours.

Uh, no, Lost has plenty of Sci-Fi and Fantasy elements in it, they're just not always at the forefront. I'm not sure the _pilot_ really should be awarded anything though, as, aside from the 'invisible monster' (which could have just been something they didn't see), there wasn't much SFish there.
