-I think while he was recovering from the blow he wasn't paying attention to wesley since he thought him already dead.Or he was in to much pain to notice.Who knows?

2. also in the finale, what is the meaning of this exchange between connor and angel:

angel: go home
connor: they'll destroy you.
angel: as long as you're OK, they can't.
-I think it means that if Angel was worrying about if Connor was okay,he wouldn't be able to concentrate on the fight.
