I really am a FireFly fan. I miss the show terribly and I love this website. (I have the dvd's :) and am anxiously awaiting the ones in December.)

Please forgive this post; but I was wondering if any of you smart people could point me to a website that is as busy as this one :) that will help me find the title of fantasy-miseries that was on TV about 3 years ago.

I only saw like 10 minutes of it, but a co-worker recalled the movie but also couldnt remember the name. The hints are:

(1) It was kinda like the 10th Kingdom but that wasn't it,

(2) that the story was about a world split into two realms -- Light and Dark,

(3) there was a young replacement doctor being trained to take the place of another doctor,

(4) the only scene I remember had some very vicious-looking dogs in it that took place at a clinic or hospital. Kinda fairy-tale looking environment.

(5) My friend remembers that the older doctor looked like James Earl Jones; but when I looked at IMDB.com at his movie list. None there rang a bell.

Thanks in advance.

Some places I frequent that you might find useful are:

www.ascifi.com - large forums with about 6000 users, main interests are SciFi television, but there also books and films discussion areas too.

www.scifiuk.com/forum/
The UK SciFI channel's forum. WHile it is a much much smaller board there are a core of people that seem to know about every science fiction television programme ever made.

www.sciflicks.com - primarily a scifi movies site, but you may find help on their forums.

Hope you figure it out soon, wherever you find your answer!

That sounds familiar. Was it on Sci-fi during their airing of the Alien Nation TV movies. It Was't an Alien Nation movie though.

I think it was called Red Star? Well it was named Red something if I'm recollecting right. A belend of fantasy and sci-fi.

DOBSON: Oh, no, no. That woman is like a dragon. I mean, I believe she has a tail. If there's any other moons we need to visit, or if we could just
fly very slowly...

Red Something? Was it perhaps Red Dwarf? Sorry if that is obviously incorrect, but I'm new to the sci-fi scene and that's the only Red Something show I've heard of.

Ummm... a little more info, please...?

I don't particularly remember the series you're talking about, but I just felt to take up the challenge and see what I could find.

maybe a mention on what network it was? or was it even on network TV? or on Cable?

Any idea how long? 2,3,4,5 episodes?

Do you know if it was during "sweeps" (Nov., Feb., May)?

There was a miniseries on NBC in 2000 called "The Others". You might look into that one. You can find it at http://www.magicdragon.com/UltimateSF/tv.html#TV-O

If that's not it, the main page there ( http://www.magicdragon.com/UltimateSF/tv.html) has link to lots of TV SciFi shows.

Hope you find it.

Thought I might sneak in a question here(I'm clueless to yours, sorry)

Anyone know that miniseries that aired on WB/upn/fox(they all switched channels in my town, not sure how long ago this was! They were all channel #35 at some point ;)) Anyway, the show was about aliens invading earth with an alien price type teenager guy living here. It was animated, they were(among other things) attacking from a base on the other side of the moon with fake meteors.

Well, if you've seen it, that should be enough to get your memory, disorganized as my description was ;)

Was that the one with 'China' from the WWF on it as an alien? I only watch one hour from WB and Fox each and I don't even get UPN. But that kinda sounds familiar.

Would that be Invasion America?

I really enjoyed that show. It was shown in 1997 in the WB. I was just in Dallas at that time for the first time, and it was my first exposure to something other than the "Big 3" networks, and the story of Cale Oosha was one I enjoyed.

Yup! That would be it.

I never looked really hard, but I've thought about it every once in a while and it always bugged me.

Much thanks!

If nothing else works, you could try "Ask the Televisionary" at http://www.tvguide.com/tv/televisionary/ -- this sort of trivia question is exactly what the Televisionary answers. However it's probably not the fastest way to get the information since it's up to the Televisionary to decide whether or not to answer your question and the column only comes out once a week.

That's a good suggestion.

I also thought of another one: There is a stump section over at www.jumptheshark.com too.

The name of the show you're wondering about is White Dwarf. I think they have videos/dvds for sale somewhere....

Don't confuse it with the magazine of the same name...I doubt you'd be happy with the results.

In the spirit of this thread, I'm also going to ask about an obscure show whose name I've completely forgotten. It was a short-lived (maybe half a season), rather cheesy fantasy show about some barbarian/ranger type who was given three magic arrows every morning by some wacky-ass shrub god. Every time our hero shot one of the arrows at his foes, the screen flashed red and all the baddies disappeared. Really tacky stuff, but what can I say, I was 10 at the time. I think it came out in the early '80s...is this ringing any bells?

Hello?

Red Dwarf's that British show (which is one of my favorite shows actually) with a few guys flying around in space having problems with themselves and the outside worlds...hey...that kind of sounds like Firefly, don't it. Except the shows themselves aren't really like each other. Red Dwarf is purely comedy too (with sci-fi touches).

I enjoyed "The Others." But that was an actual series (12 ep midseason replacement), not a miniseries. I was mad when it was cancelled, b/c the final episode showed all the characters just seconds away from death before ending. So that was annoying. It wasn't a great show, but given time it could've became one. You may remember it beside "The Pretender" and "Profiler," two other good shows, as part of NBC's "Saturday Night Thrillogy."
