can I stop at the end of that season?
Or am I gonna be hypnotized into getting all the rest?

If the end of S2 has a cliffhanger, I don't even want to start down that road.
I'm gonna have to suffer Dawn in BTVS S5, I don't wanna deal w/Connor too....

The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

well IMO Connor was nowhere near annoying as Dawn. Connor wasn't a bad character, I - and others - just dont like the direction they took the character in. For a great example of how good Connor could have been, wait till you see the season 5 episode "Origin"

Season 2 doesnt end on a cliffhanger of sorts, in fact the last 4 or 5 episodes are completely different to the rest of the season (and most would say not in a good way), but in a way, you would have to buy season 3 if you watched season 2 because the main plot regarding Angel's old enemy/gal pal isnt resolved until the following season

Still if you want my opinion, Angel is a show well worth watching and I feel a much stronger show as a whole than Buffy

Let me chime in here. 2nd season in one of my favorites. In fact as Angel goes my favorite seasons would be as follows

Season 2

Season 5

Season 1

and 3 and 4 are ok.

I really liked the end of S2... in a fun way. It had some great humour, introduces one of my favourite characters ever on Angel, plus it has the best Joss moment *EVER*.

Watch it, go on, I dare you. You won't regret it. Be warned though, if you haven't watched the Buffy S5 finale "The Gift", there is a major spoiler in the last three minutes of Angel Season Two.

Watching season two always leaves me with the strangest urge to eat tacos.

You can stop at the end of the season, but why would you want to? Season Two is where the show hits its stride and once you’ve seen it I have a hard time picturing why anyone would want to look away. Great arc, some wonderful new characters, great new locations, great darkness and great laughs--it’s got ‘em all.

Plus, get it for the last four episodes. I have never had as much fun watching television as I did when I got to those last few eps.

(P.S.: Dawn isn’t that bad. She kinda grows on you, like a fungus--Only in a good way )

S2 is great. The show really finds it footing and and IMHO the arc is nothing less than captivating.

You can make a clean break after S2. It doesn't end in a cliffhanger. But maybe rent S3 Disc 1 and see if you want to continue on with it.

But hey, BUFFY 5 first, right?!

It is essential. If you only watch one season of ANGEL it has to be 2.
