While watching the season premiere of House, M.D. tonight I saw the trailer! It had a voice over on it and everything. Different than the one in the theater though.

I have to thank you for the heads up. I hadn't seen a TV spot yet and had hoped that one would air during Bones. Of course, one didn't but I kept watching FOX and finally saw the one that was attached with House. It was great seeing a Serenity trailer outside of my computer screen.

WHITEFALL

I saw it on House, and I really liked the voiceover, actually...

Something along the lines of: (all done from memory though, please correct if you recorded it)

They're reckless
They're rowdy
They're dangerous
and they're the good guys.
On September 30th, take a ride with the crew of Serenity.

Anyways, said with those lovely pauses trademarked by the voiceover people, it really sounds good. because it tells you that it is a movie, about a crew of people who are a bit to the left of the law. So, i like it really.

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

Ok. I just saw a trailer for the movie and funny enough it was during a repeat of House from season 1. It wasn't a regular trailer though. It was full of Browncoat testimonials and as much as firefly means to me as well I don't know if the case for the movie will be strengthened by this. There was actually more of these than footage from the movie. I found it a very strange ad and if I were new to the material I don't know if it would have the desired effect. Don't get me wrong, everyone was well spoken but I think it may be the bi-product of how much I don't like the personal testimonial/infomercial phenomenon. It always strikes me best when you are intrigued by the creative work itself. Just my 2 cents but I think they should let the trailer speak for itself. It's a damn good trailer.

This is the only tv spot I've seen (once during Stargate on the Space channel and tonight during Survivor). I don't really like it either. There's very little trailer footage in it. It seems like something that would be more appropriate after the opening weekend. The testimoials almost go on too long- if I hadn't recognized the music I would have gone back to reading my newspaper.

Hmmm... House is on in 1/2 an hour. Maybe I'll watch it and see one of the others.

I didn't even see that version posted on the Serenity movie web site. Saw the 'good guys' trailer for the 1st time while there, but not the testimonials one. That is a bit different.

Were the people in the trailer pretty? Joss likes pretty folk, they look so much better on the screen than average folk.

The folks in this particular add were your true blue dyed in the wool fans. I wouldn't like to judge as far as "pretty" goes but the thing that irked me was everyone had very touchy-feely personal things to say and I don't think that has the impact of a straight piece of feedback like "It was the best movie I ever saw." or "sci-fi hasn't been this good since..."

There is such a thing as the OVER selling of a product. I'm a huge fan of the Firefly 'verse. I've seen the movie 2x's already, and likely will a few more times. Best movie ever? Nope. Damn good? Yep. Mainly I like it because it's so unlike anything else out there. But I won't ramble on.... Hope that ad gets put on the shelf untill the movie's been out for a while. Might be good to play that THEN, not before.
