QUICKSAND

First off, thanks for clicking. Some questions you may have:

1) What's a Plano?

Great question. It's a suburb on the north side of Dallas, TX. It's quite close to where I am.... and it's also where Alan Tudyk is from. In fact my most recent job had a woman there who went to high school with him. So I'm using this tiny little connection thread as an excuse to invite any area browncoats out to the first showing of the day, September 30th (unless I get wind of a midnight showing the night before).

2) Which theater?

Clearly there are options. The Angelika Plano is out, because they don't show THAT kind of movie (snobs!), and whereas I had been considering the very unoriginal (though very nice) Cinemark Tinseltown Plano, there's also the local Studio Movie Grill.... they're already planning Harry Potter parties. So why not show those people what REAL devotion is?

3) You don't seriously think this will be as big as the one in Houston, do you?

Uh, not remotely. But it was worth a shot. Plano isn't exactly a major city, but it's where Wash is from, and I'm near here, so that must make me cool. Also, Alan is totally invited.

4) Anything else you'd care to share?

Well, look, if I never get any replies to this note, then I see no reason why I should continue planning anything, except me and the 3 or 4 friends I was gonna go with sitting in the 3rd row that morning, as already planned. But if I get a few from Dallasites in the area, then let's make a thing of it. We can have a logo and everything.

5) Wait, I don't understand. What's a Plano, again?

It's a real place, I swear, and it's in Texas, and there are NO horses or oil wells. Go to www.angelikafilmcenter.com to see what the arty theatres look like, then hit up Cinemark or just message me about the place the movie will actually be at.

6) Do you wanna meet the real me?

Not right now. Perhaps later.

--------------
I'm only one man, I can only plan so much. But if that town in Iowa where Captain Kirk is from can build a monument, then we can pretend to like Plano for a day, if anyone else is with me.

Assuming there are any.

Hey! Me and a bunch of other Browncoats are here in Plano at the Guildhall (SMU in Legacy). We are all planning on going to the first showing of it here at the AMC 16 I guess. (I have never heard of the places you mentioned, but then I am not from around here.) There are at least 10 -15 of us, maybe more.

:) We would most definatly be up for something, so what do you have in mind?

That's awesome.

The Cinemark Tinseltown is a bit farther north; it's on the Dallas North Tollway, about two or three exits north of the George Bush Tollway (note to out-of-towners: yes, it's really called that).

The Studio Movie Grill is at the corner of Park and Preston in west Plano. And I didn't know that SMU was in Plano?

The main campus is in Dallas, but there is a little campus called the Linda and Mitch Hart e-center here in Plano.

The awesome thing is it is a school that teaches you to make VIDEO GAMES. Check it out guildhall.smu.edu

Siiiign me up!! I'm not far from Plano--live out here near Allen, myself. We usually go to the Lowes Cineplex, just cause they're nice and gave me their Serenity poster from the wall *squeezes it*

if this is still going on, I can arrange to end up in a browncoat-filled theater early on the 30th--much revelry and geekiness will ensue ahhhhh--I can taste the twizzlers already!

mail me at sihaya@imagechild.com and lemme know what ends up happenin!

To use the local hacker lingo, such a presence would be "The Bomb Dot Com."

I LOVE the Loews up there, particularly if you're referring to the one at Keystone..... but that's not actually Plano, so it's not Wash's home. Phooey.

I'll call the Studio Movie Grill, because I'm curious (and dislike Harry Potter) ... but yes, you all are on this site, and therefore instantly cool, we'll have an official Plano Shindig and everything.

Keep on keepin' on.

Mighty,

Just bumping this real quick for two reasons:

1) Is there even a Serenity party going on anywhere in DFW? Or is Houston the nearest one?

2) In case anyone else was interested.

I'm calling theaters here today, so I figured it would be easier to email people from this thread, rather than constantly bumping it and annoying people who live in more exotic places, like Britain, or Wyoming.

XOXO

Blah blah blah. Throwing a party at the Studio Movie Grill would TOTALLY cost money. ANGRY CHINESE SWEARING!!!

We're just gonna go to the Tinseltown Plano (Dallas North Tollway @ Parker Road) and make a lot of noise. Unless one of you is rich (hi, Alan).

Email me at quicksand24@yahoo.com if you're up for it, and if you spam me I will totally hunt you down.

XOXO
