I enjoyed the episode though it wasn't as snappy as the Whedon helmed season premiere.

Observations:
The Necromancer idea was great. Hopefully there are other Necromancers out there because the concept deserves to be explored beyond a one-shot episode (like, what happens when families see their deceased loved ones walking around and acting strangely?...etc)
Spike as ghost will get old fast... careful Mutant Enemy!
Boreanaz needs to take up pilates or something. He's got a bad case of Matthew Perry syndrome going on.
Angel (the show) needs more women!

On Angel being a doughboy:

Personally, I thought it was cute that he was a
bit beefy around the middle.

It made the necromancer's "reach into his middle" scene a lot easier to deal with!

Imagine how hard it would have been to shoot if he'd had a six-pack of abs!!!

Maybe it's all that pigs blood that contributes to the doughboy look.

Hey, everyone on these damned shows is so beefed up and beautiful, I found the slight Uni-ab to be refreshingly real.

My partner commented that it was the first time he'd seen a fat vampire on TV, but I think that this isn't true at all.

ON Necromancer:

What a great actor that was!!! He was older, which was also nice, and he was so scary.

Too bad they killed him off.

I agree that they should bring on more characers like that guy.

THIS WAS A GREAT EPISODE, blew the pants off 5.1, which I thought was way more boring.

I can easily get past the idea that as the undead he's not supposed to gain weight since he seems to be gaining it awfully well. he's always had nice shoulders and there was some ab definition with the pajama pants set just so on his hips...

I'm sorry, what were we talking about?

This is only the second episode of Angel I have ever seen. The first was last weeks. I have to say the lawyer angle is weird. I'm glad that the horned, green-faced guy taking notes didn't appear in this last episode.
Necromancer? Where the hell did that idea come from? Anyway, for being so self-assured of his power, he was pretty easily defeated.

The overabundance of men on the show right now is a little unsettling, but then again, Buffy was heavy on the female characters by and large.

I think the big objection that people have to DB getting a little larger is that he's undead and isn't supposed to change 'that much' and he's the lead, gorrammit! Last year, I don't believe they did have his shirt off once. Obviously, he's working on it.

They have to do something about his hair though...

I love how Spike and Angel play off each other and how it brings each into shades of grey. Angel is showing his human jealousy and ugliness where Spike is concerned and Spike is fearful of spending eternity in Hell and is trying desperately to convince himself and others that he doesn't deserve to go there.

I think they'll come up with something corporeal for him...that was what the end implied anyhow.

Exactly!!!!
That one quick shot of him right before the credits had me laughing. I'm just yelled out "Captain Shaw?!" I guess seeing him in Two Guys and a Girl just sort of made him less scary. Speaking of which, does Joss like to pull people who have been on that show (coughNATHANcough) or is it a coincedence?

Also, am I the only one who thought Spike sounded a little different sometimes? I dunno, sometimes his voice just sounded different, deeper maybe.

And hey! Where was Knox? *cry!*

I wanted so badly to hate this year, but I'm finding that I can't... yet.

Spike's current predicament need's to be resolved in the first ten episodes. Harmony needs to be staked(by Cordy prefferably- more on that later). Gunn is finally truly kickass, and if possible should go the entire season without resorting to violence once. Wes is being too nice - he needs go back to that ruthless place he was in during S4. Now Angel really has poofy hair. When Tru Calling is canceled because of a crap creative team that fails to inspire ratings, they need to bring Eliza Dusku onboard full time. Cordy should be the focus of the season finale, even if it's only to finish writing her off the show for keeps and not this wishy-washy coma bullshit - after seven years both the actress and the character deserve better.

The Fred and Spike thing that's being set up should give ample ammo to get Buffy and Angel back together. Joy. Excuse me while I go puke.

Who are you? What do you want? Why are you here? Where are you going?

Much of Spike's lines sounded re-dubbed. Perhaps Marsters' voice isn't carrying well in the vast new W&H sets.

Ah! Not like Lorne? He's adorable! If last week's was the only episode you'd seen, then maybe I understand, but give Lorne a chance!

As to the lawyers, they're been battling Wolfram & Hart since year 1, so it makes perfect sense if you've seen the rest of it.

Korey ~ don't
