Okay so we have a hint that Angelus returns to the Buffyverse as does Faith the Slayer.

Select to view spoiler:

What we didn't know was how.

Apparently the gang needs some info that only Angelus would retain in memory so they DELIBERATELY bring Angelus back. When he ends up escaping, Faith is the one chosen to track him down.

I for one, am stoked for Angel S4!

Hmm... this has potential to be the best Angel story arc yet! It also has potential to fail miserably. Either way, I'm returning to Angel after a year's hiatus next year.

Anya: Let's face it, we're not gonna find this thing, because it doesn't exist. There's no such thing as a frost monster who eats diamonds.
Buffy: Well, maybe he doesn't eat them. You know, maybe he just... thinks they're pretty. (pause) We suck.

KOOKYTREE

I reckon this isnt true. The Buffy crew are notorious for sending out fake spoilers to throw everyone off the scent. It'd be great to see Faith back, though I think the Angelus thing has been almost overdone- can they really say anything new with it?

Stay kooky.

The Hannibal Lector approach sounds intriguing enough. And anyway you get Faith back in there (after a two year absence!) will work for me. Period.

If the new boss and writers of Angel can pull this off and add enough new takes on the theme, this story arc should be grand.

On another note, I've been reading many summary slams of Angel S3 and would just like to state for the record that I really enjoyed this past season! The return of Darla (pregnant!)... the evolution of Wesley... the addition of Fred... the continuing dark humor of W&H... the return of a full grown Connor (raised by an enemy of Angelus)... all this and more added up to a damned exciting season for this viewer.

Sure Angel as a daddy was annoying. News flash: All new parents are annoying. In that sense the show was spot on.

If you bailed on S3, you missed some great TV. Give it another chance!

When you put it that way, it sounds compelling and interesting, and I'll admit, all of the ideas were there. It had potential to be great, but with the poor (and often downright annoying) writing for many episodes, I believe the season ultimately failed. I tuned in for all of the important episodes (my sister, being a spoiler hound, instructing me to do so) and there were a few that I enjoyed, but the filler episodes I saw were horrid (notably, Carpe Noctem, Billy, and Tomorrow).

I didn't bail completely, and I enjoyed several of the episodes I watched (namely, Lullaby, Sleep Tight, and Waiting in the Wings). But overall, there were too many bad episodes for me to continue watching regularly.

The best thing about Angel this season was Fred. I *love* Fred. I think that she, by far, gave the best perfomance of any cast member of Angel and was on par with James Marsters' and Sarah Michelle Gellar's performances on Buffy. Joss really scored when he cast Amy Acker. Unfortunately, he didn't have so much luck when they cast Gunn in season 1 and Connor in season 3.

Willow: Hey, Buffy! You're mad!
Buffy: You noticed. It'll pass.
Willow: No! Anger is a big powerful emotion! You should feel!
Buffy: Well, that's good then. ... Done.
Willow: Well then let me make you mad again... ready? Um? Last semester? I slept with Riley.
Buffy: And you know, I really doubt it.
Willow: Caught me. Big fib... to cover up the sleazy affair I had with Angel!

Assuming this plot thread rumor is true, HOW will Angel become Angelus in a controlled environment?

They've done the happy drug thing already and the effects of it wear off after one episode.

Think Cordy will volunteer to give Angel a happy (despite the emotional masochism she would have to endure)?

But with Willow being off the magic, how would he get his soul back after they got what they needed from him? Whatever they do, it's gotta be temporary.

Faith: You want to listen or you wanna die?
Angelus: As long as you're there, I mostly want you to wriggle.

This board's been pretty good about spoilers up to now. Can we remember spoiler tags please?

Thanks

Ok, but here's the thing:

Select to view spoiler:

Will a 'happy' really transform Angel anymore? I mean, reallly - how happy can a 'happy' truly make him when he knows he's going to turn into a soulless monster as a result of it? Sounds like some angsty lovin' to me... might not work. But then the next time it might, because he wouldn't think it would happen again...

Oy. Confusing.

Anyway, I imagine if witchcraft can resoul him, it must be able to desoul him, too.

You don't think Wesley could do it? Couldn't be that hard... it was one of Willow's first spells, if not the first... and she did it flawlessly. I'm confident that Wes could do it easily.

My problem with this plot point is that it really doesn't make much sense metaphysically speaking.

Select to view spoiler:

I mean Angel and Angelus are not two different people with two different memories. Anything Angel knows Angelus knows, and vice versa.

I'm truly hoping this rumour is wrong. If this is merely an attempt to draw in viewers, then I'll be sorely disappointed!
