They are constantly referencing literature from the past.

When you think how little time they have to present a message. Often writers need to draw on past literature in order to short cut the viewer to the requisite point of view for the sake of the narrative.

Hadn't spotted it myself though, may have to go back to that and give it another looksee.

I'd figured it out based on the descrip; just making a point. I have a real pet peeve with "fans" who can't spell characters names correctly. How in the world does anyone get 'Lauren' out of 'Lorne'?
