Okay, so I'd known for awhile that there were "Buffy" and "Angel" music vids on YouTube, but for whatever reason, I'd never watched any. Guess I figured they wouldn't be very good, or worth the time. But I ended up watching a video a few weeks ago that somebody had done about Faith (yay!

), and it was actually really good. So I got to thinkin': "Hey, maybe if there are enough other good ones on there, I can download 'em and make myself a DVD."

So after watching many, many vids about the two shows, I can confirm that yeah, most of them aren't very good or worth the time, but enough of them are that getting a full DVD's worth of them actually is possible. Some of them, in fact, are unbelievably-professionally done (I'm sure I'm telling you guys what most of you already know, but hey, sue me for being a little behind the curve on this one

). I ended up with 31 vids (19 "Buffy", 12 "Angel") on two DVDs--over 2 hours of stuff. Thought I'd share, for anyone else as late to the party as me, or if maybe there's any in here that'd slipped thru the cracks that you hadn't seen yet:

. It's gotta go on there, too, and probably at the very end, but now I gotta figure out where to move "Broken Wings". Leave it second-to-last, move it up first ahead of "Rockstar", or put it somewhere in the middle? Decisions, decisions...

I'll post the list of the 19 "Buffy"s over in that section of the forum if anyone is interested. Maybe we could turn 'em into ongoing threads that ppl could add stuff to anytime they find a good one...

I don't know how many different ways are out there to do it that might be better, but I use vixy.net. It can be a real pain in the, um, neck, but it converts the file into avi format for you, pre-download, as opposed to flv. I still haven't found a (freeware) way to convert flv files into something I can put on a DVD, so I'll put up with vixy's headaches for the benefit of getting the vids in avi...

--edit-- Oh, one tip when using vixy: when your file gets converted and they give you a download link, on the first attempt you'll usually only get about 100kb down before it quits on you. Don't fret--just click on it again and try a second time. That usually does it.

Well, everyone's tastes are different, obviously. :shrugs: I guess for me, the most important thing is context. Probably half the ones I posted aren't songs I'd listen to if they came on the radio (*cough*"FreakOnALeash"*cough*), but they really fit the character(s) well. Nothing will get me to stop watching a vid faster than a song that does NOT suit the character at all.

On the other hand, the editing's gotta be good, too. There are at least two Buffy/Riley vids up there that use "Everything You Want" by Vertical Horizon, and you couldn't possibly pick a better song to sum up that relationship, yet unfortunately neither vid was put together all that well...

And thanks for posting those other three.

See, right now is when I wish buffyvids.com was up and running. Even with all the broken links, it was a great resource for music videos.

I've been a music vid nut for years now. I started out with AMV's (Anime Music Videos), and then I branched out to live action. The file I have with Jossverse music vids is currently occupying about a gig's worth of space on my computer right now.

I don't usually go on YouTube, mostly becasue the quality (usually) isn't that good. I've had a lot better experience downloading. I'm at school right now, but once I get home, I'll try to post some of my favorites and (if I can find it) the web site they came from.

ETA: Another great place to find vids is on LiveJournal. It can be tedious to look through all the postings, but definitely is worth it.

I recommend sisabet, luminosity, and heresluck for vids (heresluck also has great Serenifly vids too). You have to download their stuff off their sites though (if they're on youtube, someone snagged them without permission)

Definitely try out Evil Angel, Here, and Southwest Voodoo. She also once made a Buffy vid to the entirety of the Beatles Abbey Road album (you have to e-mail her to get it though). Also, you MUST check out the Firefly "Serenity" video. It kicks ass.

And since this is the "Angel" thread, I have to mention one I found last night thanks to DG's links: "Getting Away With Murder" ( http://www.angelofate.com/~martoufmarty/html/angelvids.html ). It's described as an AU vid, which honestly, I didn't even notice until I went back to find the link just now. Really, it totally works as just a celebration of S3/4 Wes at his absolute most badass-ness. I used it to replace the Wesley one I'd previously had (done to Earshot's "Wait").
