i was watching angel on TNT yesterday (season 5) and:

Select to view spoiler:

with the return of spike through the amulet that turned him into a ghost (of sorts). this explains (to me at least) his line in the finale when angel is assigning targets for each of the team members and spike says "let me say i'm not wearing any amulets. no broaches, beads, pendants, pins or rings." nice to have that explained to me. i did not see any of season 5 before watching the finale when it originally aired.

just had to share, again.

Est, I just have to say I'm lovin' your reactions to the show. It makes me feel like Angel is still on the air. I miss those crazy vampires.

Yes, please do keep posting...I love these shows, and I miss having Ats on the air (I'm still hoping & praying that Joss & Mutant Enemy will get a made for TV movie from the Buffyverse onto the air sometime before the end of the year...
At any rate...feel free to comment on each episode you watch, because a lot of us haven't really gone through all the foreshadowing, and every detail...
not enough anyway.

BTW did you watch Buffy's finale (end of S7)?
Did you catch where Spike wakes up screaming
"I'm drowning in shoes!"
??
flash back to Buffy's S1...Cordy's line about shoes
which also related to Cordy moving to LA for Ats

there is just no end to the fun...

oh good.

one question, though. why does everyone refer to Angel as Ats? i assume A stands for Angel, but what is ts? the series?

i did not see the buffy finale, in fact, i have only ever seen 2 buffy episodes in their entirety. thus, the appearance of many of the characters from that show on angel in season 5 does not have that big an impact on me.

Oh don't miss out on the goodness of BtVS,
there are some brilliant episodes
and wonderful character development
a lot of Joss' life's blood in it!

And yes, Ats stands for Angel the series...
and is used because even the line
'did you see Angel last night?'
would get confusing
are we talking about the character?
or the show in it's entirety?

i see. yes, i can see how saying "did you see angel last night" would be confusing.

for some reason, i have never gotten that interested in buffy. i tried to watch it many times, but like i said, i only finished 2 episodes. for some reason, it does not resonate as well with me as angel or firefly. wb shows a rerun on saturday. do you have any idea where in the show's run they are at? perhaps i will try to hop back in again.

How is 'did you see Angel last night?' confusing? I've never heard anyone say 'did you see Wesley last night?'... ;)

You should definitely make an effort to watch Buffy, if only to help you to appreciate the remarkable history between Buffy and Angel, and their love story. It resonates throughout AtS, as does the relationship between her and Spike in Buffy's last 2 seasons. It makes the scene where Spike is re-ashed from the amulet more compelling when he asks where Buffy is.

Besides, anything Joss is good for the (vampiric) soul.

Actually I think the comment had more to do with the end of season 7 of Buffy where he obtained the amulet. It was the big battle that destroyed Sunnydale, Spike died during battle but came back as a ghost through the amulet. The whole thing started with the battle in Sunnydale.

Kaylee: Wash, tell me I'm pretty
Wash: Were I unwed I would take you in a manly fashion
Kaylee: 'Cause I'm pretty?
Wash: 'Cause you're pretty

You could go to Amazon and pick up the old VHS box set of the Best Of Buffy/Angel romance episodes. It's a really cheap way (people selling it used for under 5 bucks) to catch up on the great history of Buffy and Angel.

Really it should have been over during Angel S3 but they resurrected it for a few pointless scenes later on (and an entire pointless ep right at the death). But yeah, twas beautiful for a while there ;)

aaaaargh, nooooooo. the buffy/angel love story was the worst bit of both serieses. angel, the dark powerful warrior type that he can be was reduced to a simpering wreck. btvs is well worth watching, but more for other stuff, xander and spike being funny, faith being a real kick-arse slayer, and some of those fantastic episodes like joss' trilogy of different audio tracks in hush, the body and once more with feeling.

And what, you thought Angel/Cordelia was more convincing?...

i'm not saying anything about convincing anywhere, and it's certainly a matter of personal taste thing, and the fact that smg does very little for me in a romantic lead type way, but yeah. maybe. ummm, that's kinda irrelevant for my point though. my problem was just that i didn't like who angel was around buffy. to be honest i really didn't think that spinning off angel into his own show would work due to him being such a weak character (unlike the much much much better angelus) in my eyes. glad to be proved wrong, cheers joss :)

so i'm not trying to put down anyone who liked that relationship (and i know thats a lot of people) or de-value it for them. rather, i'm pointing out that there are also people who love btvs and have all the seasons on dvd and entirely and wholehearted recommend them despite disliking the buffy/angel arc. anyway, i always though she and pike were forever ;)

maybe i should've added some smilies and imhos to my first post.
