Allow me re-introduce myself. *Waving* Hi! I'm Channain, late of this wondermous RP known as Gunrunning, also known as crazy-busy art student. Nice to meet y'all!

Maniac came and gave me a bit of a nudge today, and he'll be happy to know I printed out the latest greatest Act and caught myself up as of yesterday. I think I've found my new night-table reading! Also realized that the last token Post I put in was just that, and woefully inadequate. Who knew writing out of a sense of misplaced responsibility was as bad as writing at midnight? At any rate, I'm planning to edit that post to include Kaylee (who Rowan ignored earlier) and then put in another "Where's Rowan been all this time?" post. I already have it started.

Actually, the storm is wider than the state. Something in the neighborhood of 400+ miles across, east to west, and something like 1000+ miles long, north to south. Yipes!

As to your inquiry - Stitches are still in, the Doc wanted to keep them in for another week. The hip is not broken in either the ball or socket, praise Yahweh. New appoitment to get a MRI of the battered area when I go in to get the thumb unsewn.

And the personal injury claim has been submitted. It does look like this may be long term injury, so I am going to SOCK it to the insurance company. Heh, it is the first time in 40 years I have ever made a personal injury claim after an accident. Wish me luck, in both healing and getting a fair and speedy settlement!

If only I could fully stretch out and prop my right leg under the desk. But alas, the desk is built so I can do that. I can only sit at the comp for around 2 hours or so before the durn muscles and nerves badger me into submission. So again I must heap mucho thanks on Debs for posting those 2 Mal posts and constructing the 'Death of Slight' for me.

Oh, yes - Xiang. If you have time I would say go ahead. It never hurts to have something prepared and can be altered if things, RP-wise, flow a different direction. Heh, as example - Raven and I ahve finished a scene that won't happen until after "Shadows of the Pale Moonlight" RP. It actually is a really great Kaylee/Simon working together scene conceived by Raven. I am actually sorta itchy to see the reaction to this collaboration between Raven and I.

I have been negligent, I will send the Thal info to you sometime this weekend. OR do you need it for your current post?

Astriana : How is hubby fairing after the surgury. I know he was doing good right after, but how is he now?

Oh, yes, don't have TOO much fun being battered and blown about by Frances or the concurrent party!

Geezer & Ciara : Fantastic interaction and deepening of the relationship between Inara and Thorne!!! Can we expect more after "the curtain closes and time passes"? I, personally hope so!

DECOY

Hi all...

I'm here, just finished boarding up all of the windows on the house. Not worried about the house or yard per se, I'm worried about driving in the storm all over checking on other people, namely Deb & all 10 cats... :) I'm used to driving in extreamly bad weather... I worry about the few stupid drivers who are out and about who shoulden't be.

Sorry to hear about the party, we even had a gift! But maybe soon...

okay. As far as Slights dad, Harold Helsing is no longer among the living. As a result, on a different story arc, the Blue Sun will be under new management. Carlson Davis, formerly Second Power and absolutely worthless worker bee, will be the result of a massive upheaval. Midnight and counting -

Seen some awesome footage from the east side of Forida - Frances has finaly landed ... sometimes the sheer power of nature takes me completely aback. I did not know palm trees could bend so far and not break ...

Shelters filling up. Once eye hit shore, power losses climbed.

Tampa is only just starting to get rain-bands and while I am under a tornado watch I have no worries - has been relatively quiet here and I will catch some zzz's soon.

Astriana - hope your party/gathering goes well and safely. Decoy, my thoughts are with you, 'cause gonna hit you before it hits me.

Just this instant, heard the wind outside ramp up ... storms are my achilles heel - I don't cope well and I admit it. But no danger here except from my own fear. (fear is the mind killer ... .)

Well folks, there comes a time (every few months or so) when I spend a day or two in a row doing nothing but RP and/or chat and get the "I'm worried about you spending too much time on your computer" speech.

I think I've mentioned this phenomenon before.

This time it was rather interesting because it a fairly strong "There are no such thing as cyber-friends"/"they aren't real friends" streak to it, which I took offense to.

But worry not, I've played this game and done this dance. I kept my mouth shut for the most part, let her speak her piece and for the next couple days I'll play it cool until the wind dies down. I'll still have time to post and e-mail but I won't be on AIM as much- probably be playing video games, painting, watching movies, having fun off the computer.

Spend a few hours too many on- take a few off. Seems fair enough to me.

I should be back to my regular schedule in a couple days- until the next storm hits in another few months.

You want to hear something funny? The same thing was happening to me - and I'm 37. The 50-something housemates were worried I was becoming addicted to the Internet. It wasn't what they said, it was what they tried NOT to say, or tried to do to lure me away from the computer. That all changed when I had to start taking online courses and suddenly there was a REASON for me to be online. Nevermind that neither of them has any "cyberfriends" or have joined any chat rooms, or explored relationships outside their very small, tight social circles - if I can dare call them that. All they see are the stories on the news about people who are arrested for neglecting their children because they were on the Internet 24/7, then me spending an entire evening on IM and they think "OH NO! It's happening to her!" I think all of you will agree with me that based on that, I'm the last person to worry about.

You're showing wisdom, mei mei, to hold back and some discipline in pulling away from the computer for a bit. There is a season, and all that.

I'm back! I don't know how long this will last, though, so enjoy it while you can.

Oh gods - it's almost here.

Decoy is ok and still without power. Where I am the wind is ramping up to a level I cannot completely comprehend. I mean we have tornados where I come from but they last such a short time ... this has been going on for hours and just keeps getting stronger.

I guess I never realized just how flexible a tree can be.

I still have power as you can see. All is well except my mental state is getting just a bit less stable. Thank you for all being here, while I rant. I don't feel quite so alone.

Her power is out (was expected) and she is set up to weather the storm.

Hello all.

Power is up in the house I am staying in, but NOT yet at my own residence. However my cats are fine, we went and checked on them.

However computer here is making a really strange noise once I turned it back on like I was supposed to, so will shut down again soon. But I am just peachy and it looks like it is pretty much over for the most part.

Very scary in the night, winds up to 60 miles an hour around here. Much trash on ground and a few trees.

Thanks again for all of your good thoughts - probably the reason we did so well. Decoy is with me for this moment and ok, but still has no power at his place.

All should be restored to normal soon and I should be back in my own digs by Wednesday night - so look for me in chat.

I'm fine, as is Deb... my power is now back up, but there are still a lot of people who haven't had power for 3 weeks now...

Our houses are ok, and a new thought is: roof shingles that stay on during a hurricane is good, having a roof that stays on the house is better. :)

trees bend, but telephone poles made from trees don't. Does that seem right to you? :)

Down to canned goods over here, as everything had to be thrown out of the refrigerator... but not much, as we saw it comming, and knew not to stock up much... will post later,

1)Did I go in the wrong direction with Mal, concerning the interaction with Book?
2)Are you willing to play Book and Malichi? I have some nefarious ideas in Malichi's general direction. There are 2 variants, and the choice depends on if Raistlyn continues with Hexx. If he cannot play, then Malichi will do the dirty deed listed below!. Since we have heard nothing for a bit from Raist, I am not sure if he is going to continue to be able to play Hexx. So I am introducing a plan B.

which of course segues to this -

Raistlyn : If you aren't able to play much, I would like to abscond with your and Teela's idea of a bounty hunter kidnapping River during "Serenity Vacation" and have Malichi do the deed. If you can play, then Malichi could team up with Slight and track Hexx and River during the first parts of "Shadows of the Pale Moonlight" as a 'B story arc' that - when resolved will connect with the 'A arc' back with our Crew and Hitchers on the Enclave base deep in the gas giant of Oroboros in the latter half of "Shadows...".

Complicated - perhaps, but yer old insane Cap'n has a fun plan in store fer all you all!

Squee : Thanks, I thought it may be a bit ... incorrect for the character of Mal, but wanted to try it anyway.
Tonight may be a good time to hammer out the interaction with Mal. Let me know when you are free.

Ciara : How are you doing? I assume your writing muse is still with Teela's and traveling the globe with the Travelocity yard gnome. Hope they return home soon!!!

4) Merz or Jayne coming up with an idea on how to dump the Conex safely, instead of repacking into crates. (hint - bunches of bungees and empty boxes)
4) Jayne and whomever, getting Merz drunk.
5) Thorne and Inara finale. Is there one?

Sorry for the delay in check in, folks. Our blustery visitor friend Frances thought it'd be nice if we lent her our electricity for a while. We lost power for about 7 hours on Sunday, got it back just in time to hook a friend into Firefly and go to bed. Just after 8am on Monday, we lost power again, and didn't get it back until after I went in to work this morning.

One thing I hadn't counted on was getting calls from a couple of the neighbors of the house up in New Port Richey - site of previous Treezilla activities. Seems that Frances felt like munching on my house, too. As soon as I got home from work and had dinner, I headed up to check out the damage. Now I'm back at work, because there's stuff that has to be finished before Boss #2 comes in tomorrow morning - he's going on travel tomorrow afternoon.

I'll post more info later - probably sometime before band practice tomorrow night.

I have done my (unfortunately) last post for a couple of days. Will be on the road until late Saturday night and will likely be tired then.

Will read, catch up and post as soon as possible thereafter, assuming someone has left me something to read.

supplemental - and probably incoherent this time of night.

My cat-sitter woke me up in a panic - could not find a hotel willing to take 4 cats (2 mine, 2 theirs) and watching Ivans tracks was getting scared enough to flee Florida.

Checking my records I have managed to book myself in a pet-friendly hotel for gods-know-what reason for the trip up AND back (used same half-way hotel).

So in the wake of IVAN scaring my friends into leaving Florida, will be schlepping my cats along with me. Which pretty much means DeeCee crying all the way to Indinanpolis, since neither one of them are car-friendly.

Wish us luck - the person who called me at midnight scared out of his gourd, does not actually scare easily.

Fortuitous Karmic Happenstance I was already

1: leaving the state

and

2: booked in a hotel that will take pets.

Does that seem right to you?

When do you set out, hon? How do the cats respond to catnip? If they stone out and fall asleep, then perhaps you should stop by my house and have Bob freshen some of your cats' toys with the Catnip Extract that we have at home. They could relax and sleep the whole way up and back... no mess, no stress, no worries...

Astri -

Lucky mamma that I am, one cat will NOT touch catnip at all, the other one eats fresh catnip with eager anticipation and no reaction whatsoever. I have some catnit extract of my own, Diamond wants to lick it off of anything and DeeCee hides from the smell.

We are leaving around 4:30 this evening. We will be OK I am sure. I will let you know when we reach our destination safely.

I am far more worried about you guys ...

We stopped by Sam's last night and stocked up on general supplies and stuff for the hurricane. We made sure that anything perishable was something that would be okay if we end up losing power again. I'm going to go through today and split up the lunchmeats and stuff and put them in the freezer. (A full freezer will keep cold for up to 48 hours without power.)

Fireflygal (Aleta) called the handyman to come out and board the place up today - I'm glad to see she's Ivan his due. Looks like we're also planning to buy some dry ice on Sunday or early Monday, again in case we lose power. Meoriar and I are going to make sure the coolers are set up well in advance with plenty of ice, and I'm going to do all the laundry and cleaning this weekend.

We should be okay. The experiences of the last few weeks have given us a real good idea what holes need to be filled in our hurricane preparedness. What I can't be sure of is where we're going to go if the storm is projected to be more than a Category 3. Initially, I thought we could go up to the rental in New Port Richey, but since that took roof damage (that probably can't get fixed before Ivan gets here *sigh*), I'm thinking that's a bad idea.

We had a dog who would get carsick during long car trips. We fed her half a tablet of dramameine inside a soft oatmeal cookie, and she slept for the entire trip. Not that I'm encouraging drug use for pets or anything, I'm just saying...
