Because of the Constitution, there is no way for me to rein in Hillary, no more than I could rein in Bush/Cheney and their rein of error.

But Congress can by refusing to approve thousands of Hillary's judicial and cabinet and department appointments and all her budgets and all her drafts of legislation.

And Republicans (excluding Trump) have already said their policy toward Prez Hillary shall be scorched earth. Obviously Trump will be a good sport about losing the election. He certainly won't use incendiary speeches to claim the election was Absolutely and Totally Rigged. He is too much a gentleman.

Tell me 1kiki, how does shooting trump, as a collaborator, start an 'overt military confrontation' with Russia? Is there something you wish to share with the class?

With Putin, you never know. Although he is crazy, no telling what he'll do. But with trump as president, watch out, WWIII could easily start with a stupid remark or thoughtless utterance from the SFB-in-Chief.

Trump's tweet shows his depth of understanding and brilliance of stupidity.
An oxymoron if ever there's been one......crazy is not the word I would use.

If Putin invades a Baltic nation (all are part of Nato) to reunite the Russian speakers with the Motherland, then Putin is crazy. Crazy people can always invent a justification for acting crazy: It is Mother Russia whispering into his ear, telling Putin to reunite all her scattered children into one family again.

Back to Trump:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Dwyane Wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!
11:26 AM - 27 Aug 2016
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/769571710924263424

This particular tweet isn’t going to do too much of anything to debunk the notion that Trump simply lacks a certain level of human empathy that we expect from a president. An innocent woman is dead. Children have lost their mother. A family is grieving. And Trump is making a boast about his electoral performance. From any other candidate it would be considered shocking, but staying shocked is a challenge as we watch the Trump campaign unfold.

I agree Second. Trump will be eating shit as he fades away into TV land for an attempt at another reality show.

But, of course, that whole thing about Putin's support for Trump is made up.
Made up by the same people that said there was WMDs. This is FUN. We're making up shit again. Score 1 for the Gipper!

I have papers proving I'm certifiably lazy. Crazy papers I don't have.

Donald Trump and his new team think they have 73 days to turn this campaign around. They’re wrong.

Early voting begins in 28 days in Minnesota and in 32 other states soon after that. And already 90 percent of Americans say they’ve decided. For all the televised daily drama this race has provided, the final outcome itself is shaping up to be less dramatic than any presidential election since 1984.

“Kellyanne is good at this, but she’s got a very damaged candidate and it’s very late in the game,” said Tony Fratto, a GOP operative in Washington and former deputy press secretary to President George W. Bush. “I think it’s too late, in fact. I don’t believe he can change. All of this is trying to trick voters into thinking there is a better Donald Trump out there. There is no better Donald Trump.”

Asked to name a smell they might associate with this election, participants in a focus group conducted by Peter Hart in Wisconsin last week gave the following responses: “sulfur,” “rotten eggs,” "garbage,” “manure” and a “skunk’s fart.”

And then we come to the nub, the ONE THING that Congress can't stop: military intervention

Please reconsider our past 16 years ... more, if you count Bill's great adventure in Yugoslavia. The USA has been rampaging through the world:

-----

Invading Afghanistan and bombing it even further back into the Stone Age. Consider the starvation and the extreme repression that women experienced under a resurgent Taliban.

Invading Iraq, and destabilizing an entire region. By "de-Baathifying" Iraq and creating a power vacuum, jihadists were given free play through the region.

Destroying Libya, and destabilizing an entire region, creating poverty and extremism in a formerly prosperous, secular nation. The arms shipped in by Qatar and Saudi Arabia (via Turkey) were transshipped (by the CIA) to Syria via Turkey. Other arms flowed the rest of N Africa and into extremist hands http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/feb/28/gadhafis-weapons-flood
ed-africa-middle-east-west-l
/ (France had to "clean up" Chad and Mali.)

A "false flag" chemical attack on the Damascus suburb of East Ghouta, blamed on Assad crossing a "red line" but engineered by somebody else, designed to draw in USA bombing raids. These were robustly discouraged by Russian destroyers and cruisers (from Sevastopol/Crimean) athwart the Syrian coast.

And then ... Sevastopol and Crimea come into view. Victoria Nuland, wife of (in)famous neocon Kagan and Hillary protoge, activates Operation Ukraine and decides NOW is the time to "birth this thing" and "make this thing stick" and "fuck the EU" and bring in snipers and provocateurs and make Maidan boil. Destabilization Ukraine complete.

Sanctions against Russia. Operation Oil Price War.

Operation Syria comes back into view. Turkey releases refugees. Terrorist attacks across the EU. We know how that's going.

The USA supporting the breakaway of South Sudan to prevent China from accessing the sweet, sweet crude of the former "Sudan". South Sudan is now in full civil war.

Pivot to the East. China and the USA tussling over the South China Sea.

Foreign policy spiraling further and further out of control. Circling the drain, one might think.

-----

I could bring up other examples of the United States destabilizing nations across the globe, with links.

What I want you to consider... take your head out of Texas for a moment, take a deep deep breath and ask yourself ...

... Breathe...

.... breathe ...

When, in the past 16 years, has USA foreign policy NOT... I repeat NOT .... been a total clusterfuck, killing hundreds of thousands (if not millions) and leaving broad swathes of the globe in ruins?

And when has Congress ever stopped these clusterfucks?

Please, try to answer those questions. Devote a few moments of your day... whatever it is... to contemplating those thoughts.

I'll continue with this later.

Please, try to answer those questions.

The last 16 years are nothing special. Remember Vietnam? Remember the Spanish American War? Mexican–American War? Don’t shift the blame for recent foreign adventures from Congress to the President. The U.S.A. has been on a foreign war rampage since 1775 and the Battle of Quebec. It invaded Canada again in the War of 1812. Twice they tried to steal Canada.

America has always been full of belligerent, yet cowardly, thieves and the worst of them are in Congress. Those sneaky bastards are always demanding that the White House take action somewhere in the world.

The sneaky bastards don’t want to take responsibility when the adventure goes wrong but they certainly provide oversized budgets to do it. Congress always talks about the jobs created by military spending, except it never cared about that. It is about making money and bullying other countries.

The President is at the steering wheel of the war machine, but Congress is the engine pushing the U.S.A. into war after war. And the brakes don’t work. Money is the fuel. To stop the machine, take away the funding for defense. That is Congress's decision, not the President's.

Elect a different Congress and you’ll get a different result. Change Presidents and nothing changes about war. And I don’t believe Trump about him being a peaceful President. That guy is belligerent by nature. And proven to be a thief by his business practice. He’ll go to war, too, just like every other President being shoved from behind by Congress into a fight.

The USA has been at CONTINUOUS war for 13 years, and in that time destroyed or destabilized eight nations. (I forgot Yemen, which we can add to the list. Also Honduras.) That's quite a record. Yanno, WWII only lasted four years for us.

Not eight short years ago, you were frothing at the mouth because of GWB being a disastrous Commander in Chief. And in a discussion about Hillary's responsibility for Libya, did you not argue that only the President had the authority to send in American troops, absolving the Scy of State from any responsibility? Back then, you were OK with blaming the President. But now, are you trying to say that the President is just an innocent bystander to what Congress does? Is "Congress" your current excuse for the string of military and intelligence nightmares under Bush and Obama?

You're so serious. Lighten up.

Did you ever see the movie Speed (1994)? Sandra Bullock must drive a city bus full of passengers faster than 50mph or else the bus explodes. Hillary will be playing the role of Sandra Bullock and the Pentagon is the city bus. Congress plays the role of Dennis Hopper, the bus bomber who choose the speed of 50mph and is monitoring the bus by watching TV coverage from traffic helicopters.

If it was Trump driving instead of Hillary, he’d be on the sidewalk crushing pedestrians with the bus. (He wanted to nuke Syria to kill ISIS.) Bush & Cheney certainly loved to kill civilians and torturing anybody who got in the way while they were at the controls of the Pentagon. America needs a different Congress, the Dennis Hopper in this drama, to slow down and defuse the Pentagon by giving it a smaller budget. Hillary can’t do it. All she can do is steer the Pentagon and try not to let it kill too many of the innocent.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_(1994_film)

I think this means retired President Obama will be Keanu Reeves.

Yeah, because nothing is more hi-larious than killing a million people and destabilizing a whole region. Do the lives of poor brown people elsewhere mean so little to you that it's inappropriate (in your mind) to be serious about them?

Because the Republican Congress has managed to plant an explosive under the President's chair???

That has got to be the dumbest analogy I've read in quite a while! What credible threat can Congress bring to the table that it has not done already? Delay appointments? Block bills? Fail to pass a budget? Block appropriations? Been there, done that! Congress is like Dennis Hopper, with a sparkler instead of a bomb.

A Republican Congress will be as obstructive with Hillary as they were with Obama, which is why almost nothing of Hillary's domestic agenda will make it through, and why the DNC platform is 95% DOA.

But, let's take you at your word: Let's say that Congress will allow some of Hillary's domestic agenda through if she would only go to war with the "enemy" of the day.

Is that really a bargain she should be making? Is that really a bargain you would want? Which promises to do more damage: starting yet another foreign war, or sliding on some domestic priorities?

So you imagine. But unlike Hillary, who we have reliable foreign-policy experience with (war, more war, proxy war, and after that... maybe nuclear war) we really don't know what Trump would do.

What will Trump do? What he said he'd do: nuke Syria to get ISIS. He made that very clear.
http://fortune.com/2016/03/23/trump-nuclear-weapons-isis/

You never grasped the point that Congress decides how much money the Pentagon has. With a reduced budget, about the size of China's military budget, the Pentagon could only cause about one fourth the misery in the world. When the USA is not at war, the Pentagon can't justify its budget, so war is what it will be. It doesn't matter who is President. Dumb Presidents like Bush will allow the Pentagon to piss away trillions and still not capture Osama bin Laden. A smarter President like Obama will murder bin Laden while also pissing away trillions on the Pentagon. But smart or dumb, Hillary or Trump, all the trillions of dollars that Congress provides will be wasted by the Pentagon. There is a nice article hinting at how the process works: "U.S. Army fudged its accounts by trillions of dollars, auditor finds". The Army won't even bother to count the money before wasting it.
www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-audit-army-idUSKCN10U1IG

So your choice is between a stupid President or smart one. Either way you're getting a war whether you like it or not. If you don't like war, get a different Congress, one that won't lavish so much money on the Pentagon and the Intelligence Community because we know what the money will be spent on: War.

Thanks for making my point for me. I thought you'd never get there

There IS no plan B after a president is elected. But there is a plan A2, and that's to do something before the election. Which is to narrow Hillary's margin, to the point where she either breaks for republicans and loses democrats, or breaks for progressives and loses republicans.

But with trump as president, watch out, WWIII could easily start with a stupid remark or thoughtless utterance from the SFB-in-Chief.

Putin is too savvy to start a war because someone said something stupid. If he was easily provoked by people throwing shade, we would have been toast a long time ago. And I hope you realize there are safeguards in place to prevent a US 'rogue president' from starting WWIII with an impulsive nuke launch.

CLINTON OTOH will stumble into war with the full support of Congress, the State Department, and the CIA. There is literally nothing standing between her policies and WWIII. Though I suppose with Iraq, Libya, Ukraine and Syria as examples of her excellent judgment, we can rest easy.

What does Donald Trump believe? Whatever the last person to talk to him does, apparently.

Trump tends to echo the words of whomever last spoke to him, making direct access to him even more valuable, the people said, requesting anonymity to talk about internal campaign discussions.

Trump’s blithe inconsistencies, and his maddening insistence that the media is just misinterpreting what he said before, make a lot more sense if "Trump tends to echo the words of whomever last spoke to him."

That might mean we’ll never really know what Trump is thinking about immigration — or anything else. It should be treated as a terrifying trait in a possible future president.

The answer to “What’s President Donald Trump doing on immigration?” — a question on which the lives of millions of people hang — might depend on his schedule for the day.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Both you and Jayne tend to hyperventilate about Hillary.

And once again you've dodged the facts I posted with your usual off-topic personal snark.

You make a GREAT advocate for your position! Not. Which is why I'll continue to scroll past.

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. But WE don't have any of THAT in the US, do we?!

I've got the same amount influence with India vs Pakistan or S Korea vs N Korea as I have with Democrats vs Republicans vs 1kiki. None. I am only a momentary electronic whiff on the internet, so you are no different to me.

Voters are more and more resembling the Sunni vs Shiite style of thinking from Middle East politics. Their rule-or-die attitude will ruin the USA.
www.nytimes.com/2016/08/31/opinion/win-lose-but-no-compromise.html

More and more of our politics resemble the core sectarian conflict in the Middle East between these two branches of Islam, and that is not good. Because whether you’re talking about Shiites and Sunnis — or Iranians and Saudis, Israelis and Palestinians, Turks and Kurds — a simple binary rule dominates their politics: “I am strong, why should I compromise? I am weak, how can I compromise?”

With rare exceptions, the politics of the Middle East is just a seesaw game between those two modes of zero-sum, rule-or-die thinking. Rarely, these days, does either party stop to seek or forge common ground. It’s just: I am strong, so I don’t have to meet you in the middle, or I am weak, so I can’t meet you in the middle. Shiites stick with Shiites. Sunnis stick with Sunnis. Nothing else matters. You can see how well it’s worked for them.

In the USA, that kind of sectarian/tribal thinking is reinforced by left-right social media enforcers, gerrymandering and giant campaign funders.

Politics is about winning, but it’s also about winning with a mandate to govern. And right now, everything suggests that the next four years will be just like the last eight: a gridlocked, toxic, Sunni-Shiite, Democrat-Republican civil war, with little search for common ground. That’s how you ruin, not run, a great country.

GOP officials are already sketching plans “to stymie a President Hillary Clinton agenda.” Have a nice day.

It's funny how you always bring 2 people into the topic of conversation, regardless of my rather open-ended remark on the stupidity of trump for Prez.

I could say, he drinks milk for lunch, and you would come out with Hilary is
the devil and Putin is way too smart to drink milk for lunch.

Very telling indeed, but I knew that going in. BTW, in history wars have been started for less. Oh, and Putin is the only other motherfucker who has
a bigger ego than Trump......world leader or not. Of course, he's not stupid
he only wants to rule the world, that's all! One day, it could happen, so
you'll be in the high command once he reads your posts here........actually,
he may already have you in his sights.

Just think of it. Putin himself, knows of you. High praise indeed. My guess is that I'll be subjected to bread and water for the duration. And all the king's horses and all the king's men........you know the rest.

Toast, eh! Really! We don't stand a chance against the likes of Mr. Vlad the Impaler, do we!?

Putin is too savvy to start a war because someone said something stupid. If he was easily provoked by people throwing shade, we would have been toast a long time ago. And I hope you realize there are safeguards in place to prevent a US 'rogue president' from starting WWIII with an impulsive nuke launch.

CLINTON OTOH will stumble into war with the full support of Congress, the State Department, and the CIA. There is literally nothing standing between her policies and WWIII. Though I suppose with Iraq, Libya, Ukraine and Syria as examples of her excellent judgment, we can rest easy.

Trump is talking out of the both sides of his large flapping mouth. He claims that he's going to deport all illegals and yet his organization
recruits and maintains illegal, and under-aged, young girls (some as young as 15 years old) posing as models.

He crowds them into apartments and charges them $1200 - $1400 a month per person, sometimes as much as four to a room. They barely make $8000 a year.
His company instructs them to say that they are here visiting relatives and
they overstay their welcome violating their student and work visas. Fucking
slimy hypocrite. Castration is too good for him, the sleaze! BTW, these
girls work for major fashion houses and the industry feeds into it.

So their not innocent and on the up & up about this at all. Who's making all
the money. The Fucking Rich. Yes, Trump is the perfect man for the job. Like
Kiki and company always say, Hilary she's the devil and the only one that is
corrupt and evil in this latest pop contest.

Yeah, and I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

Trump’s passion, however, isn’t for the details of border security or immigration economics. It’s for lurid tales of bloodshed. Yesterday, he opened the speech with long descriptions of a handful of people who’ve been murdered by illegal immigrants, and he closed it with testimonials from relatives of the deceased. Lurid fantasies about avenging these crime victims have dominated much of Trump’s “thinking” about politics ever since he made a splash with paid newspaper ads urging the execution of five young men who turn out to have been falsely accused of murder.
www.newyorker.com/news/amy-davidson/donald-trump-and-the-central-park-
five

A normal person would feel ashamed to have once loudly and publicly advocating for the killing of five people for a crime they didn’t commit. Not Trump. “These young men do not exactly have the pasts of angels,” he wrote at the time. Trump has bragged about punching his music teacher which, I guess, is what the angels do. The one hint of moderation is that he said we should deport Hillary Clinton for unspecified crimes, which is much more restrained than earlier calls to have her locked up or maybe killed.

As a political figure, Trump has always been a race-baiting, fear-mongering demagogue and that’s not going to change. If that’s what you’re looking for in a president, then you’ll love the Trump administration. If you find it off-putting but you’re really into tax cuts, he’ll probably throw you those too.

immigration policy is nothing short of a racial divide, the Wall is merely a
front, an excuse, a façade. The real deal is far more sinister.

How immigration fueled a backlash

Between 1990 and 2014, the share of foreign-born citizens in the United States went from 7.9 percent to 13.9 percent — a near doubling. The last time the share of foreign-born citizens got this high (about 100 years ago), it provoked enough nativist backlash in the 1920s to largely close the borders for four decades, until 1965.

The rising tide of immigration has indeed provoked some backlash, and that backlash has been channeled into the Republican Party. Political scientists Marisa Abrajano and Zoltan L. Hajnal have found that negative views about immigrants contribute to stronger identification with the Republican Party among whites, even controlling for all the usual variables that typically explain partisanship (including ideology). They also found that whites with strong anti-immigration views actually shifted their partisan identification from Democrat to Republican in the late 2000s. These findings are reported in their 2015 book, White Backlash: Immigration, Race, and American Politics.

Some of this, Abrajano and Hajnal argue, is because Republican politicians "have been much more vocal and adamant in their opposition to immigration." Therefore, "the millions of white Americans who feel real anxiety about immigration are drawn to the political party that has promised to ease such concerns."

But I think it is more helpful to understand it as Obama’s existence is at fault for this windstorm and Trump is just the most clever opportunist of all the Republicans who ran in the primaries for President (or the biggest dick, whichever you prefer) who is surfing the waves blown by that Obama storm. A sample from a longer article:

How Obama's election fueled a backlash

Obama's election was widely viewed as a landmark of race relations progress. But looking back, it now seems increasingly clear that his presidency activated a racist backlash.

Political scientist Michael Tesler, for example, has found that "old-fashioned racism returned to white Americans' party identification in the early Obama era because the country elected an African-American president from the Democratic Party." He also found that whites with strong racist attitudes turned much more sharply Republican following Obama's election, including some who had previously been Democrats.

More recently, in a new book, Post-Racial or Most-Racial: Race and Politics in the Obama Era, Tesler documents what he calls "the spillover of radicalization." That is, because of "Barack Obama's omnipresent position as a historic racial figure, and his embodiment of race as the first African-American president," racial attitudes were constantly being activated.

As a result, racial attitudes started to independently predict feelings towards seemingly unrelated issues, like health care. And issues that might not have once been partisan issues, like whether 12 Years a Slave deserved an Oscar for Best Picture, have became deeply partisan.

I agree Second, the backlash includes the obstruction by Congress and the like. People don't want him to succeed, not because of politics, that's a distant second compared to race, but because of prejudice. Imagine saying that Trump is a bigot and racist because he is of German descent and that
he must produce his birth certificate to prove he's American. The right
wing media, and Ann Coulter, would have a cow.

Never mind that he's the biggest effing liar in the world, but he's the
most annoying as well. There's so much more to say but I'll limit it to
that. Plus he doesn't have a clue as to what it takes to be president.
He probably actually believes that the president can repeal/abolish the
2nd Amendment. Idiot doesn't begin to describe the total moronic qualities
of one Donald J. Trump.

I'll go one further; here's an article I found online that speaks of his campaign and the so-called media bias he likes to scream about:

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/stop-the-false-media-balance-bet
ween-trump-and-clinton/ar-AAigmYr?ocid=spartandhp

Very interesting article. But there's more. This one deals with his "modeling" agency:

Identity Politics Run Amok

David Brooks SEPT. 2, 2016
www.nytimes.com/2016/09/02/opinion/identity-politics-run-amok.html

Trump's immigration speech returned to the class and race tropes that have defined his campaign: that the American government is in the grips of a rich oligarchy that distorts everything for its benefit; that the American people are besieged by foreigners, who take their jobs and threaten their lives.

It’s not that these two ideas are completely wrong. The rich do have more influence. There are indeed some foreigners who seek to harm us. It is just that Trump (like other race and class warriors) takes these kernels of truth and grows them into a lie.

Trump argues that immigration has sown chaos across middle-class neighborhoods. This is false. Research suggests that the recent surge in immigration has made America’s streets safer. That’s because foreign-born men are very unlikely to commit violent crime.
www.cato.org/blog/immigration-crime-what-research-says

According to one study, only 2 or 3 percent of Mexican-, Guatemalan- or Salvadoran-born men without a high school degree end up incarcerated, compared with 11 percent of their American-born counterparts.

Trump argues that the flood of immigrants is taking jobs away from unskilled native workers. But this is mainly false, too. There’s an intricate debate among economists about this, but if you survey the whole literature on the subject you find that most research shows immigration has very little effect on native wage or unemployment levels.

That’s because immigrants flow into different types of unskilled jobs. Unskilled immigrants tend to become maids, cooks and farm workers — jobs that require less English. Unskilled natives tend to become cashiers and drivers. If immigrants are driving down wages, it is mostly those of other immigrants.
www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/10/immigrants-arent-stealing
-american-jobs/433158
/

Trump claims the rich benefit from immigration while everyone else suffers. Doctors get cheap nannies, everyone else gets the shaft.

This is false, too. The fact is, a vast majority of Americans benefit. A study by John McLaren of U.Va. and Gihoon Hong of Indiana University found that each new immigrant produced about 1.2 new jobs, because immigrants are producers and consumers and increase overall economic activity.
www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/05/actually-immigration-can-
create-jobs/391997
/

A report from the Partnership for a New American Economy found that immigrants accounted for 28 percent of all new small businesses in 2011. Between 2006 and 2012, over 40 percent of tech start-ups in Silicon Valley had at least one foreign-born founder.

The cities that are doing best economically work hard to attract new immigrants because the benefits are widely shared. As Ted Hesson points out in The Atlantic, New York, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles account for about 20 percent of America’s economic output, and in those places, immigrants can make up as much as 44 percent of the total labor supply.
www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/07/us-cities-immigrants-econ
omy/398987
/

Identity politics distorts politics in two ways. First, it is Manichaean. It cleanly divides the world into opposing forces of light and darkness. You are a worker or an elite. You are American or foreigner.

Seeing this way is understandable if you are scared, but it is also a sign of intellectual laziness. The reality is that people can’t be reduced to a single story. An issue as complex as immigration can’t be reduced to a cartoon. It is simultaneously true that immigration fuels American dynamism and that the mixture of mass unskilled immigration and the high-tech economy threatens to create a permanent underclass.

Second and most important, identity politics is inherently the politics of division. But on most issues — whether it is immigration or the economy or national security — we rise and fall together. Immigration, even a reasonable amount of illegal immigration, helps a vast majority of Americans. An economy that grows at 3 percent would help all Americans.

Identity politics, as practiced by Trump, but also by others on the left and the right, distracts from the reality that we are one nation. It corrodes the sense of solidarity. It breeds suspicion, cynicism and distrust.

Human beings are too complicated to be defined by skin color, income or citizenship status. Those who try to reduce politics to these identities do real violence to national life.

September 17: The Trump Foundation makes a $25,000 contribution to a PAC backing Bondi. The Florida Attorney General's office backtracks, telling the Orlando Sentinel there was never any consideration of joining the lawsuit against Trump U because they had received only one complaint during the time Bondi was in office. This was untrue: the AG's office had received a couple dozen complaints, but had weeded them out so they could say there was only one.

We have a case that's a mere hair's breadth away from Donald Trump bribing the Attorney General of Florida, who is a Republican. There's only the slightest wiggle room for believing that the events in Florida are all just a big coincidence. Maybe they deserve a little bit of front-page attention?

All Trump’s Generals, if he wins, will be Obama’s Generals until noon on Inauguration Day. Or Hillary’s Generals after noon if she wins. Therefore Hillary knows as much today as Trump has ever known about Trump’s Secret Plan to Defeat ISIS! I guess we never needed Trump’s secret knowledge about ISIS in order to defeat ISIS after all. Sad!

From what I understand, there were some 8,000 Trump "students" looking for justice in Florida.

Yes, Trump knows everything, doesn't he? He has no ISIS plan. He gave it away
when he said that he would give his generals 30 days to submit a plan.

You know he's lying Trump, right!?

Another group that loses if Trump wins? Animals.

When asked about his sons’ bloody hobby, Trump demurred except to say that his sons are excellent marksmen. Trump Junior, meanwhile, says he’d like to head the Department of the Interior, which, among other things, oversees trophy hunting imports. Under Obama, elephant trophies from Tanzania and Zimbabwe were halted and African lions were listed as threatened. What would a trophy-hunting Trump do with such protections?

Meanwhile, the Republican nominee’s anti-animal animus may be gleaned from his choice of agriculture advisers, which the Humane Society Legislative Fund has called a “rogues gallery” of anti-animal welfare activists. (Disclaimer: My son works for the Humane Society.)

Foremost is Forrest Lucas, billionaire founder of Protect the Harvest, an organization focused on fighting the Humane Society and opposing any legislation aimed at restricting cruel animal practices in the production of meat, dairy and eggs.

But such humane propositions are viewed by Lucas’ group as unnecessarily restrictive to business, limiting our freedoms and attacking our all-too-American culture.

Also on the committee is Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, who has the distinction of being the first governor to sign into law an “ag-gag” measure that punishes whistleblowers, giving factory farmers free rein over animal welfare and worker safety. The bill’s sponsor, former Iowa state Rep. Annette Sweeney, is also a Trump adviser. Another adviser, former Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman, vetoed a bill to end the sport hunting of mountain lions and has defended factory farming practices that many happy omnivores find reprehensible, including the use of battery cages and gestation crates.

Let’s just say that Trump's selection of advisers, coupled with a cavalier attitude toward his sons’ big-game hunting, bodes ill for animals and the protections so many Americans find both reasonable and desirable.

Larry King Dupes Donald Trump Into Interview on Russian TV

Today we learn just how easy it is to trick Donald Trump. Yesterday he was interviewed by Larry King on RT, a TV network funded by the Russian government. That's probably not a good look, especially for a candidate already viewed as alarmingly cozy with Vladimir Putin. So what happened?

www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/trump-and-putin-a-love-story

“Putin wants the United States to be taken up with its own problems, and forget about things like Ukraine and Crimea,” Sergei Parkhomenko, an activist and broadcaster for Echo of Moscow, told me. “It seems to him that, if the United States elects Trump, all of America will be taken up for at least a year trying to ‘digest’ him.

“But there is a second reason,” Parkhomenko continued. “Putin is convinced that absolutely everything in this world is done for money. He is a religious fanatic, and money is his god. With money, it is possible to solve any problem, buy any interlocutor. He bought the Olympic Games, he bought the World Cup. It will be easy to deal with Trump. He won’t need to use words in negotiations, only figures. When they don’t agree, it will only be necessary to find the right price.”

Vladimir Putin is a cunning and cynical reader of his adversaries. He notices that Trump does not know the difference between the Quds Force and the Kurds, or what the “nuclear triad” is; that his analysis of Brexit was based in part on what might be good for his golf courses in Britain; that his knowledge of world affairs is roughly that of someone who subscribes to a daily newspaper but doesn’t always have time to get to it. Overwhelmed with his own problems at home, Putin sees the ready benefit in having the United States led by an unlettered narcissist who believes that geo-strategic questions are as easy to resolve as a real-estate closing.

Putin knows a chump when he sees one.

SECOND, from what you post, it sounds to me like Hillary isn't running against Trump, she's "really" running against .... Putin???

So what does is say about her that she is willing to (continue to) antagonize the only other great nuclear power in the world because she can't seem to win the Presidency by running against the other actual candidate? One who is so deeply flawed she SHOULD have this campaign in the bag?

This whole but Putin thing is disingenuous both from Hillary and from you.

You're always whinging about how Trump says immoderate things that other leaders will hear. Tell me, SECOND, do you think Russia suddenly becomes deaf when Hillary or her campaign managers open their big fat yaps with endless baseless accusations about them?

Speaking of tolerance

Quote:

Several days ago, the WSJ reported that in a change of strategy, Hillary would tone down her personal attacks on Trump to distance herself from an increasingly uglier mudslinging campaign on both sides. It didn't last long: perhaps after she saw the latest polls which continue to slip away from her favor, and confirm the two candidates are again neck and neck, on Friday night during an LGBT fundraiser for her campaign in New York hosted by Barbara Streisand, Hillary unleashed an unprecedented ad hominem attack on what amounts a quarter of America, calling half of Trump's supporters a "basket of deplorables."

Cited by BuzzFeed, Hillary made a statement which 4 years ago effectively lost Mitt Romney the election: "you know, just to be grossly generalist, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables."

“Right?” she said as the crowd laughed and applauded. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic -- you name it,” Clinton continued. “And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people -- now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.

Which, of course, Hillary isn't engaging in at all.

Yanno, the interesting thing is, the more I see of Hillary, and what a small-minded person she is, the worse I think of her. As far as I'm concerned, there is ONE issue in this campaign that is driving my decision on who to vote for, and that is the prospect that we MIGHT have somebody in office who isn't going to start YET ANOTHER war. Heck, we've had three outright wars and two proxy wars, a scourge of jihadists across the Mideast and the EU, and vastly increased tensions with both China and Russia in 16 short years and ... god, isn't that enough? What are these people thinking?

I would have been far more impressed with Hillary's statesmanship if she had managed to keep her fingers off the "because Putin" button, because IMHO that's one button you shouldn't push unless you really mean it. Instead, she got so desperate running against a clown (Trump) that she completely lost all sense of proportion, and started scaremongering, which in my view completely discredits her (supposed) "experience" and wise statesmanship. For god's sake, if she can't even manage the "crisis" of a political campaign without flubbing important decisions which will create even more problems for her down the road, how is she going to manage a REAL crisis as President?

All I can think of is that her backers are either as deluded as she is, or they think she's going to croak early on in her term and they're simply riding that nag across the finish line.

The latest WaPo/ABC News poll shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump 51-43 percent in a two-way race. That's good news for Clinton, but the rest of the poll is even better news. Asked who they believe will win, Clinton leads by a whopping 58-29 percent. Historically, this is a pretty predictive indicator. President Obama's approval rating is up to 58 percent, which is good news for the candidate of the same party. Clinton also leads on all four questions about character and all five questions about issues.

But here's my favorite result. Although 43 percent of respondents say they support Trump, only 36 percent say he's qualified to serve. This means that 7 percent of the population plans to vote for him even though they think he's unqualified to be president. Boo yah!

I would not do any analysis of Trump's statements. Schrödinger's cat might be one of Donald Trump's top advisers. His policy positions, such as they are, seem to be simultaneously dead and alive.

It's almost beside the point that Trump's latest positions don't make any sense.

We shouldn't read too much into what Trump is saying. Odds are it'll change tomorrow. That's because his policies are more cultural markers than they are actual, well, policies. Trump seems to say things to show people that he's like them rather than to show them what he'd like to do. One day that might be saying that he'll pay off the entire national debt in eight years, and the next that actually "this is the time to borrow;" that he wants to raise taxes on the rich, and actually slash them; or that he thinks the Fed should raise rates, and actually keep them where they are. He's able to pull this off even when he isn't telling his supporters what they usually like to hear, because more important than what he says is how he says it. It's the anger, the affect, the sense that he not only feels their pain but shares their rage that matters here.

It's post-policy politics. It's about having the right feelings instead of the right proposals.

FINALLY! Something about what Trump actually has said, not about what the DNC thinks Trump "will" say (Trump will Crumble Under Tough Questions).... or about Putin (Too many posts to count, because you folks are obsessed with Putin)! Or cartoons about Trump, claiming to know what Trump thinks, or nasty nude paintings of Trump, or all of the other irrelevant anti-Trump propaganda you all have posted.

I agree. I listened to Trump's Q&A before veterans, and most of the questions were "What will you do about (fill in the blank"? and I have to say that he managed to avoid answering most of the questions by simply criticizing previous administrations, or by providing general answers ("I'm going to make the VA something to be proud of") without providing any specifics.

And what Trump says reveals a person who is, unsurprisingly, totally unfamiliar with how government works. In Trump's world, when he says something, people scurry to get accomplished. OR they drag their feet and wait for Trump to come to his sense because they know he was just thinking out loud. Not so in the WH! Although the President has vast administrative powers, some of Trump's greatest goals will require an OK from Congress.

CA had its own Trump-like governor, and that was Ahhhnold (Schwarzenegger) who was elected to be The Terminator in response to former Governor Gray Davis, who was gray in every way. Despite Ahhhnold's lack of experience, it wasn't a total disaster.

In any case, there is only one reason for me to vote for Trump, and that is Hillary.

Throughout her political career, she has dedicated herself to war, more war, and even more war. Wars of aggression, I might add, not defensive wars.

All of you, as Hillary's useful minions, have failed to show that she would back away from wars of aggression, or that YOU would back away from wars of aggression. Also, she likes "free trade", banks and big pharma. Donald is not Hillary, and he is running on a campaign that is distinctly different that hers. He doesn't have big banks, big pharma and (especially) the deep state necocons backing him. What's not to like about that?

In our polls-only model, for example, Clinton got as high as an 89 percent chance of winning and was projected to win the national vote by 8.6 percentage points. But since mid-August, her chances have fallen steadily. Right now, she’s at a 69 percent chance of winning and only is projected to win the national vote by 3.9 percentage points.

Hillary needs to show more empathy to bring out the contrast between Democrats and Republicans:

In the aftermath of the 2001 terror attack on the World Trade Center, Donald Trump, a billionaire son of New York City, did not make a single charitable donation to any of the not-for-profit groups that provided aid to survivors, rescue workers, or the families of cops and firemen who died trying to save others, Internal Revenue Service records show.

....In a December 2003 report detailing the “unprecedented outpouring of charitable support” following the 9/11 attacks, The Foundation Center noted that nearly 1300 foundations, corporations, and other institutional donors gave a total of $1.1 billion for recovery and relief efforts....But Trump, whose family first became wealthy renting apartments to the working class in Brooklyn and Queens, chose not to take part.
