Interesting concept. Not sure about the science or proof.
I did survive a "Downburst" on 4 July 1977, which they didn't have a name for at the time. It was compared to a Hurricane in the Midwest. We had 4 foot waves on a small lake.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I saw the news article, and I have to say that until someone outlined the hexagons for me, I didn't see them. I guess that's why meteorologists get the big(ish) bucks ... to see things like that.

Downbursts, yeah, they can be dangerous and damaging. We had a downburst nearby, in So cal, and they spent some time trying to figure out whether it was a downburst or a small tornado.

Personally, there is another explanation that I find a lot cooler, altho less probable. And that is the release of methane from the frozen methane/water mix at the bottom of the Cayman Trench. The thought is that when methane suddenly bubbles up from the bottom of the ocean, ships are suddenly trying to float on something that's half water and half gas ... and they sink. (Mythbusters or Three Scientists walk Into a Bar ... I don't remember which one ... actually demonstrated it.) Here is the science citation:

WAAAAY cooler than just "downbursts" but, like I said, waaay less probable. Too bad!

Hillary is a WAR CANDIDATE, and that's just what we need, right? More war?

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

That's one mystery that has more than enough explanations - every few years, it seems to get solved all over again ...

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. But WE don't have any of THAT in the US, do we?!
