You always claim to be the smart one. The one in the know. Yet, your ignorance is astounding. I'm not saying any of this is true, but I would be shocked and concerned if our Generals didn't take into account all options in their war against DASH.

What's wrong with you? And again, this is your White House and all you do is complain.

That concept - if not that number- was echoed (or perhaps repeated) by Bloomberg's Eli Lake

Quote:

Senior White House and administration officials tell me Trump's national security adviser, General H.R. McMaster, has been quietly pressing his colleagues to question the underlying assumptions of a draft war plan against the Islamic State that would maintain only a light U.S. ground troop presence in Syria. McMaster's critics inside the administration say he wants to send tens of thousands of ground troops to the Euphrates River Valley.

... McMaster himself has found resistance to a more robust ground troop presence in Syria. In two meetings since the end of February of Trump's national security cabinet, known as the principals' committee, Trump's top advisers have failed to reach consensus on the Islamic State strategy. The White House and administration officials say Secretary of Defense James Mattis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford and General Joseph Votel, who is in charge of U.S. Central Command, oppose sending more conventional forces into Syria. Meanwhile, White House senior strategist Stephen Bannon has derided McMaster to his colleagues as trying to start a new Iraq War, according to these sources. ....

He argued that U.S. forces in Iraq would have been caught up inside a civil war had they stayed.

The cadre of former military advisers to Petraeus took a different view. They argued that America's abandonment of Iraq gave the Shiite majority there a license to pursue a sectarian agenda that provided a political and military opening for the Islamic State. An active U.S. presence in Iraq would have restrained those sectarian forces.

One of those advisers was H.R. McMaster. It's now up to Trump to decide whether to test the Petraeus camp's theory or try to defeat the Islamic State with a light footprint in Syria. Put another way, Trump must decide whether he wants to wage Bush's war or continue Obama's.

Polling data about air strikes against Syria:

Democrats are about as non-supportive of the strikes as they were under Obama, with 38 percent backing them in 2013 and 37 percent agreeing with them now, according to the Washington Post. Now 86 percent of Republican voters back the strikes, compared with the just 22 percent who did so in 2013.

This is a pretty stunning difference. Democratic views stayed solidly negative regardless of who was president. But Republican approval rates skyrocketed from 22 percent to 86 percent when Trump became president. This despite the fact that Bashar al-Assad's use of chemical weapons was more extensive in 2013 than it was this year.

The numbers are from an article: "Few Democratic voters back Syria bombings. So why do so many Democrats in Congress?" Why indeed?

Oh, it definitely is. The concept "conspiracy theorist" is an invention of conspirators. 9.11 was a conspiracy theory. The holocaust was a conspiracy theory. Our entire history is a long stack of conspiracies.

Did you know when Victor Gollanz broke the story of the story of the holocaust he was called a conspiracy theorist? by Time, and the New York Times. They're not about to admit that now. And, get this: after the story turned out to be true, and the Nuremberg trials were over, the same guy releases a story about the Soviets exterminating and expelling ethnic Germans in eastern europe. And the same media outlets jump up and said "Conspiracy theorist" again. 1947. It had been like 2 years since they had admitted he was right about the holocaust.

He was, of course, right. Again.

Without the conspiracy theorists, you get to live in a world without spying, terrorism, genocide, corruption and crime. It must be nice. It's a lie, but ignorance is bliss.

As previewed earlier tonight, the United States fired a barrage of cruise missiles into Syria on Friday morning in retaliation for this week's alleged chemical weapons attack against civilians by the Assad regime, U.S. officials said. It was the first direct American assault on the Syrian government and Donald Trump's most dramatic military order since becoming president. According to NBC, only tomahawks missiles fired, no fixed wing aircraft involved, for now.

As AP notes, the surprise strike marked a striking reversal for Trump, who warned as a candidate against the U.S. getting pulled into the Syrian civil war, now in its seventh year. But the president appeared moved by the photos of children killed in the chemical attack, calling it a "disgrace to humanity" that crossed "a lot of lines."

Well, for sure you don't need a "live feed" but you get the point

So 60 missles launched, 59 hit the target. Any word on the disposition of the 60th Tomahawk?

I am. I do.

If you're not a conspiracy theorist that only means that you lack intelligence and any imagination.

Whatever the worst thoughts you've ever had in that brain of yours, somebody else has already had them. Somebody else has dark thoughts are a 100 shades darker than yours too... and somebody else... and somebody else......

Now imagine those thoughts in the minds of people with Real Power. People who aren't tethered to "normality" that our modern society has made for us. How many people are clinical sociopaths? I've read studies that say that 1 in 25 are. I've also read a study that said as many as 1 in 4 prison inmates are sociopaths. This could suggest that when you exist in a "reality" that is very much different from the norm that the likelihood of sociopathic tendencies increases.

We live in a world where nothing is truly as it seems.

We're not living in a "New Age of Disinformation and Fake News".

We're simply waking up for the first time and looking around and realizing that it's all fake. It always has been. But that notion is far to scary for most people to entertain, so they just cling to one "side" or another, tune everything else out and surround themselves with like minded people in their echo chambers.

I don't buy any shit anybody is selling. To be fair, I wasn't designed to, by any evolutionary measures. Most people can't remember more than about 150 in their life, and even that is a rarity. It wasn't long ago that we didn't have any technology and our circle of influence was just a speck of what it is today.

I put zero faith in anything the MSM tells us or what we were taught as "history" in school. I'm not denying anything. I'm just not going to believe it either, especially if it has absolutely nothing to do with me.

Oh... I am very much a conspiracy theorist KPO.

But the beautiful thing is that I've grown so much since I was a terrified little 26 year old that started believing in them right around the time I started first posting here.

I've come to realize that my life and my existence is so inconsequential that it doesn't matter what is or what is not real. I don't bury my head in the sand, nor do I bury my face in the bosom of the MSM.

None of it's real, but none of it matters either. Enjoy the time you have with the ones you care about. Outside of that it doesn't matter if there is any purpose at all, or if anything is real or not.

Massive U.S. bomb's death toll rises to 94, Afghan official says

Afghan officials said Saturday that 94 militants were killed in a massive U.S. bomb blast targeting Islamic State’s regional affiliate, nearly three times as many as was reported a day earlier.

Ismail Shinwari, governor of Achin district in the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar, where the 20,000-pound bomb struck Thursday evening, said there were no reports of civilian casualties.

The dead included several leaders of the Islamic State affiliate, which is loosely connected to the main militant organization based in Iraq and Syria, Afghan officials said.

ANd bury their face in the bosom of the MSM.

Well said, SIX.

The rich and powerful have been fooling people .... not for years or decades or even centuries, but millennia. The masses used to be told - and believed - that their emperor .... the one who took half their grain and some of their sons to support his court, placate lesser nobility, and feed the very army that kept them pretty much enslaved .... was their guarantee to the predictable workings of the universe .... the sun would come up every day, the rains would fall, but only because Their God On Earth allowed the mercies of the heavens to flow down upon them.

What a scam, right?

Looking back, we can snicker over what they believed, but WHY did they believe it? Well, because everyone in authority .... the priest-judges, the lordling who controlled the plot of land that they worked, the soldier-police who kept order, the religious acolytes, even the very coins and buildings and statues themselves .... everything and everyone in their environment told them so.

If someone had dared to whisper that maybe it was ALL a lie, I'm sure he or she would have been branded a conspiracy theorist, or a lunatic, or both. Burned at the stake, or have their heart ripped out, or something. Yanno, kind of like the current witch-hunt environment that we seem to be living in.

Our beliefs are imbued in our media, our economy, the very structures of our buildings and the designs of our cities. They form the warp and weft of our environment, they're so interwoven they're almost impossible to see. Sometimes it takes a crazy person to see it. You should welcome the questioner as a source of insight, not mentally burn them at the stake.

So, on to something else.

Apparently, MOAB was dropped without Trumps' OK

Quote:

“A senior administration official said Mr. Trump didn’t know about the weapon’s use until it had been dropped.”

“Mr. Mattis “is telling them, ‘It’s not the same as it was, you don’t have to ask us before you drop a MOAB,’” the senior defense official said. “Technically there’s no piece of paper that says you have to ask the president to drop a MOAB. But last year this time, the way [things were] meant, ‘I’m going to drop a MOAB, better let the White House know.’”

“There’s nothing formal, but it is beginning to take shape,” a senior U.S. defense official said Friday. “There is a sense among these commanders that they are able to do a bit more—and so they are.”

“While military commanders complained about White House micromanagement under former President Barack Obama, they are now being told they have more freedom to make decisions without consulting Mr. Trump. Military commanders around the world are being encouraged to stretch the limits of their existing authorities when needed, but to think seriously about the consequences of their decisions.”

“The more muscular military approach is expanding…”

http://thesaker.is/trump-has-lost-control-over-the-pentagon/

This once again reminds me of my opinion that the Obama administration was not entirely in control of foreign policy, which explains the lurching from one position to another.

As a DIRECT comparison to today, no sooner than Obama declared chemical weapons to be a "red line", than a chemical attack was carried out in Ghouta (2013). Assad was quickly blamed for the attack, and neocons/ the military were urging Obama to bomb Syria, in the face of "overwhelming" intelligence (some of it from Israel!) that "Assad did it".

Fortunately for the fight against Sunni extremism, Obama was a micromanager. Not only that, he apparently had back-channel communications with other parts of the intelligence services which told him that Assad probably DIDN'T do it; Obama held back the military long enough to work out a deal.

Similar to just recently, when everything is going Assad's way - the SAA was making significant progress on the ground and the peace process was moving forward in Astana, suddenly "Assad" decides to launch a chemical attack? THIS time, however, President Trump is NOT a micromanager. And not only that, whatever back-channel communications he might have had through Flynn to dissident intelligence analysts was broken. (Which was Trump's fault to being with, but I digress.)

It's a lie, but ignorance is bliss.

have you heard of the conspiracy theory that the Earth is not flat? Some sort of circle.

There are a number of "Syria" threads scattered here and there. Just to update people on what's going on ...

The Assad government has been making peace deals across Syria, allowing "freedom fighters" to withdraw to Idlib in exchange for territory. However, anyone who took that offer ... or anyone who read about it ... should be wondering exactly how permanent that "safe haven" was, since it should be clear that the Syrian government can't allow the indefinite continuation of a province almost entirely devoted to foreign fighters, mercs, and anti-government Syrians. Everyone assumes that Idlib is in the crosshairs and will be liberated soon.

In the meantime, Assad has been accused (wrongly and often) of "gassing his own people" which led to TWO rounds of missile strikes against Syria, the first against a military airport and the second against a "chemical weapons facility" in Damascus which (as it turns out) had no chemicals in it at all. This last strike was prompted by a "gas attack" which was later found by OPCW not to involve chemical weapons at all.

Fast forward to today. Pompeo is once again drawing "red lines" and warning Assad not to "gas his own people" which is usually a precursor to (yet another) false flag/ staged chemical attack which would serve as the excuse for (yet another) "intervention" by either the CIA or the Pentagon.

Russian warships are streaming towards Syria and are (once again) parked athwart the Syrian coast (That was what discouraged Obama from being more "kinetic" the first time, after his well-planned Damascus sarin attack).

More notably, Putin and Shoigu (Russia's top military man) just met in Moscow with Turkey's Foreign Minister, Defense Minister, and head of Turkish military intelligence

Generally, Presidents only meet with Presidents, FMs with FMs etc. so this is a very strange meeting indeed.

In a recent meeting with the press, British ambassador to the United Nations Karen Pierce told reporters that it is absolutely unthinkable that the terrorist factions in the terrorist-held Syrian province of Idlib could possibly be planning a terrorist attack using chemical weapons with the intention of blaming it on the Syrian government.

Her reasoning? Since the Russian government has been warning of this possibility, the exact opposite must necessarily therefore be true....

So let’s recap: it is the British government’s official public position that the extremist jihadist factions who have been holing up in their final stronghold preparing for the long-awaited military confrontation in Idlib would have no incentive whatsoever to stage a false flag chemical attack in order to rally western reinforcements against the Syrian government and thereby escape defeat. Far more likely, in the British government’s estimation, is that the warnings of such an attack are a “smoke screen” to cover for the Syrian government’s plan to perpetrate its own chemical attack in order to accomplish the key strategic goal of suffocating a few dozen children. Oh yeah, and terrorists should be given safe passage to areas where they can safely regroup, because that’s the thing that you do with terrorists now.

Never mind that those terrorist factions would stand everything to gain and nothing to lose in a last-ditch false flag attempt to recruit powerful allies to their cause. Never mind that these are actual, literal terrorists who have no qualms about killing civilians in order to advance their cause. Never mind that US National Security Advisor John Bolton has already effectively guaranteed those same terrorists that the US and its allies will join in their aggressions against the Syrian government by publicly announcing that any chemical attacks will be met with the strongest retaliation yet. All of that is invalidated by Russians having said something about it, because if Russians say something, the opposite of what they said must necessarily be true.

This current round of Washington threat, false flag, and military preparation-and-response so far mirrors almost exactly what happened under Obama.

First, Obama drew a "red line".
Then, WHILE OPCW INSPECTORS WERE IN SYRIA, a militarily-pointless "gas attack" was launched against Douma.
Unlike the last "gas attack" in which no CW were found (most likely a totally staged event) that Douma attack really did include Sarin.
However, evidence against Assad included Israeli intercepts (which they wouldn't reveal) and pictures of dead children, where children's bodies were CLEARLY being moved around and posed in different places (I posted pictures to prove it) to inflate the outrage-factor.
Then the USA started to prepare for a strike against Syria.
HOWEVER, Russian warships had already positioned themselves athwart the Syrian coast, so Obama called off the attack and the USA aircraft carrier group designated to perform the strike steamed safely out-of-range.

*****
I interject here that since the Russian warships sailed from Sevastopol, somebody smacked their head and said Oh yeah! Crimea! Time to ramp up Operation Fuck the EU*! [*or whatever they called it internally] and so provocateurs were ramped up in Ukraine.)
*****

This seems to be following the same playbook ... another red line, another false flag set-up, Russian warships athwart the Syrian coast.

What next...?

US Military Preparing For "Options" In Syria

Events are moving rapidly in Syria as Russian jets pound insurgent positions in Idlib Province and as the Syrian Army initiates a ground invasion which Damascus has described as coming in a "phased" approach.

The White House responded to the Syrian and Russian bombing campaign by vowing it would act “swiftly and vigorously” should chemical weapons be used, and a day ago claimed there's “lots of evidence” chemical weapons are being prepared by the Syrian forces, citing intelligence of such activities.

And now America's top general has confirmed the Pentagon is drawing up military options to attack Syria and is in currently in close discussion with the White House over the plans. Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told reporters on Saturday during a trip to India, according to Reuters:

...he was involved in “routine dialogue” with the White House about military options should Syria ignore U.S. warnings against using chemical weapons in an expected assault on the enclave of Idlib.

President Trump has already ordered Tomahawk missile attacks on Syria twice, in the past 2 Aprils.

However, Gen. Dunford noted that no decision has been made to intervene militarily in response to Idlib.

“But we are in a dialogue, a routine dialogue, with the president to make sure he knows where we are with regard to planning in the event that chemical weapons are used,” he told a group of reporters.

Dunford added in reference to his talks with President Trump: “He expects us to have military options and we have provided updates to him on the development of those military options.”

Trump had previously bombed Syria twice after allegations that Assad ordered a chemical weapons attack — in April 2017 and April 2018 — the former was in response to a claimed sarin attack on Idlib.

White House officials have vowed to hold Assad responsible for any chemical attack allegations that emerge.

France also indicated last week that it too would respond with military force should chemical weapons be deployed.

When pressed by reporters over whether the US actually has intelligence to back its claims, Gen. Dunford responded, “I wouldn’t comment on intelligence at all, in terms of what we have, what we don’t have.”

Meanwhile in Idlib, some truly strange theatrics have already begun, with Al Jazeera depicting locals preparing paper cups, bags and cotton, which are somehow supposed to serve as "chemical protective" gear.

Nevermind that nerve agents are absorbed through the skin, or that a little cotton and charcoal can do nothing, it's all about setting the stage for a "provocation" in order to draw in US military intervention against Assad's forces.

* * *

Meanwhile Russia has cited its own intelligence saying that Syrian armed groups in Idlib are preparing for a staged chemical provocation, which Moscow says the West will use to justify a strike against Syrian government forces.

Speaking to Newsweek ahead of this week's events, Syria analyst Joshua Landis said that there is every reason to doubt the veracity of past rebel claims regarding government chemical weapons usage — a surprising admission given his prominence as speaking from within the heart of the media foreign policy establishment.

Landis said, "I don't know what to make of the U.S. and Russian war of words over the potential use of chemical weapons in Idlib. The final reports on the use of chemical weapons in Ghouta were not definitive."

"There was no evidence found for the use of nerve agents, but controversy over the use of chlorine gas. The rebels had reason to carry out a false flag operation, as the regime and Russians suggested, but the regime refused to let U.N. inspectors in to test for chemical weapons until after a lengthy delay, which was suspicious," he concluded.

U.S. Says Syria Plans Gas Attack in Rebel Stronghold
WASHINGTON—President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has approved the use of chlorine gas in an offensive against the country’s last major rebel stronghold, U.S. officials said, raising the prospects for another retaliatory U.S. military strike as thousands try to escape what could be a decisive battle in the seven-year-old war.

US Says Assad Has Approved Gas Attack In Idlib, Setting Stage For Major Military Conflict
At this point there's not even so much as feigning surprise or suspense in the now sadly all-too-familiar Syria script out of Washington.

The Wall Street Journal has just published a bombshell on Sunday evening as Russian and Syrian warplanes continue bombing raids over al-Qaeda held Idlib, citing unnamed US officials who claim "President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has approved the use of chlorine gas in an offensive against the country’s last major rebel stronghold."

And perhaps more alarming is that the report details that Trump is undecided over whether new retaliatory strikes could entail expanding the attack to hit Assad allies Russia and Iran this time around. That's right, unnamed US officials are now claiming to be in possession of intelligence which they say shows Assad has already given the order in an absolutely unprecedented level of "pre-crime" telegraphing of events on the battlefield.

And supposedly these officials have even identified the type of chemical weapon to be used: chlorine gas.

The anonymous officials told the WSJ of "new U.S. intelligence" in what appears an eerily familiar repeat of precisely how the 2003 invasion of Iraq was sold to the American public (namely, "anonymous officials" and vague assurances of unseen intelligence) — albeit posturing over Idlib is now unfolding at an intensely more rapid pace:

I smell disinformation. But I could be wrong.
