Oh yeah? Can you give me any examples of RT or Sputnik employees getting sacked? What about any of your pro-Russia bloggers - do they ever sack themselves and shut down their blogs?

I think what you meant to say was, "That's what you get when free, professional media issues false stories: retractions, corrections and staff dismissals."

In other words - accountability. Without realising it, and while trying to do the opposite, you just made a compelling argument for the superiority of the MSM over all the media sources you rely on.

If the MSM had actually gotten to a pale representation of the facts through some internal process, you might have a point. But this "news item", like so many others in CNN, WaPo, and NYT, was an unverified leak from yet another anonymous source, which CNN happily published without (apparently) even the simplest of verifications.

A process, I might add, that you support through your uncritical swill-swallowing, echoing, and your constant attacks on alternate sources and alternate PsOV.

BTW- Sputnik News and InfoWars - both of which you have constantly impugned as "biased" - were the ones who brought this inaccuracy to light. So suck it, you stupid deep-state trolls. CNN just got its ass handed to it; this isn't a "victory" for the MSM no matter how you try to spin it.

As an aside: The "journalism" behind the original story was so gorram shoddy that it probably put CNN at risk of a major libel suit, or worse. This the only time I've even seen such a thorough climb-down by a major "news" organization. Usually, the journalist resigns but the editor just blithely sails on. The subject of the libelous reporting - Scaramucci- can afford to be forgiving; after all, just look at CNN whittling all over itself trying to get out of trouble.

Oh, worse and worse for CNN ... apparently, according to recorded conversations with a Health producer at CNN (who talks to the editor-in-chief) this whole "Russia" thing was simply for ratings, and a lot of the stories were published without regard for the truth.

This is from another "biased" source (Project Veritas) who recorded a CNN producer saying this ...

Quote:

John Bonifield: Even if Russia was trying to swing an election, we try to swing their elections, our CIA is doing shit all the time, we're out there trying to manipulate governments. I haven't seen any good enough evidence to show that the President committed a crime.
I know a lot of people don't like him and they'd like to see him get kicked out of office.... but that's a lot different than he actually did something that can get him kicked out of office.
Russia is for ratings!

PV Journalist: Why is CNN constantly like "Russia this, Russia that?"
Bonifield: Because it's ratings. Our ratings are incredible right now.
My boss, I shouldn't say this, my boss yesterday we were having a discussion about this dental shoot and he was like I just want you to know what we're up against here. Just to give you some context, President Trump pulled out of the climate accords. For a day and a half we covered the climate accords. And the CEO of CNN [Jeff Zucker] said in our internal meeting, he said good job everybody covering the climate accords, but we're done with it. Let's get back to Russia.
But all the nice cutesy little ethics that used to get talked about in journalism school, you're just like, that's adorable. That's adorable. This is a business.

Not the best week ever for CNN, is it ?

Project Veritas Undercover Investigation: CNN Producer Admits Network Hyping ‘Mostly Bullsh*t’ Trump-Russia Scandal for ‘Ratings’

James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas has struck again: This time, a senior CNN producer was caught on camera by one of O’Keefe’s investigators admitting that the network’s relentless bashing of President Donald Trump with the Russia scandal lacks proof.

“Could be bullshit. I mean, it’s mostly bullshit right now,” the CNN producer, John Bonifield, said in a video O’Keefe’s Project Veritas released on Tuesday, when asked about his thoughts on the Russia investigation. “Like, we don’t have any giant proof. Then they say, well there’s still an investigation going on. And you’re like, yeah, I don’t know. If they were finding something we would know about it. The way these leaks happen, they would leak it. They’d leak. If it was something really good, it would leak…. The leaks keep leaking and there’s so many great leaks, and it’s amazing. I just refuse to believe that if they had something really good like that that wouldn’t leak because we’ve been getting all these other leaks. So, I just feel like they don’t really have it but they want to keep digging. And so I think the president is probably right to say, like, look you are witch hunting me. You have no smoking gun. You have no real proof.”

CNN isn't the only media outlet publishing fake news, it just happens to be the only one (so far) caught on tape admitting that's what they do. But CNN coverage isn't that far different from NYT, WaPo, or the MSNBC: It's all based on "anonymous" sources who could be lying, or simply amplifying on each other's stories. With no attribution and apparently very little verification, the stories could be completely bogus. According to one person who works for CNN, they are.

So, about those "investigations" of Trump.

Go back into your reportage - whatever source you got your "information" from, it doesn't really matter - and what you will find is that it goes back to "anonymous sources".

Obstruction of justice??
Quote:

Five people briefed on the interview requests, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said that Daniel Coats, the current director of national intelligence, Mike Rogers, head of the National Security Agency, and Rogers’s recently departed deputy, Richard Ledgett, agreed to be interviewed by Mueller’s investigators as early as this week.
So, five anonymous people said that some top security officials are being interviewed.

Money laundering??
Quote:

A former [anonymous] senior official said Mr. Mueller’s investigation was looking at money laundering by Trump associates.

Collusion?? Hmmm... there is nothing in the MSM recently... anonymous or not ... about Trump "colluding" with Russia during the campaign. I guess that one died when Comey testified that Trump was not under investigation.

*****

Meanwhile, what did the DOJ say about anonymous sources?
Quote:

"Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous 'officials,' particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations. The Department of Justice has a long-established policy to neither confirm nor deny such allegations.

The reality is that Special Counsel Mueller has broad authority into looking into whatever he wants. Just like Ken Starr started investigating Clinton's Whitewater dealings but wound up poking his nose into Bill's sex life, Mueller could be looking for evidence of "collusion", but he could just as easily be looking into where all of the LEAKS are coming from, or he could be checking into Trump's hemorrhoid status.

All we really know, at this point, is that there is an ongoing investigation into something.

If you find a named official anywhere in your "sources" I would be vastly surprised.

I merely offer this as evidence that CNN internally thinks the whole Trump-Russia story is bullcrap, and they're running it just to keep people tuned in.

Oh, by the way ... You may have forgotten the Constitution again, yanno, something about "innocent until proven guilty". So nobody has to "prove" Trump is innocent. The people who constructed our system of government realized that it's impossible to prove a negative, and they avoided that logical fallace quite nicely. You OTOH seem to keep falling into it. I think the 2 biggest obstacles keeping these snowflakes from admitting that Russia / Trump is a nothing burger are ...

1. They've invested so damn much time and effort in this fairy tale, to bail out now would add more salt into the 2016 election loss wound. The hope of him being impeached is now up in smoke.

and...

2. Having to admit that Trump did not in fact collude w/ the Russians means that he's not a traitor, not trying to undercut our democracy, and quite frankly, mutes their biggest rallying cry for everyone to RESIST. He's still kitty grabbing Trump, and all that, but I think the debunking of the Russia connection on some level means the snowflakes will have to admit they're wrong, and that Trump is right. And it means that Trump " wins ", yet again.

It's just too much for some to accept, and so that's why we'll never see it.

Rather than all reporters needing to fake their Democratic affiliation, there is another way to handle fake news from Anonymous sources: the news could stop using Anonymous unless the editor knows the Anonymous’ real name. If Anonymous lied to gullible reporters, Anonymous’ real name is published by the editor, along with a retraction. That would certainly encourage Anonymous to tell the truth or stop talking. Either would be an improvement to the present situation where reporters have to pretend to be Infallible Seekers of Truth or else resign.

Somebody deserves to be hurt when a lie is publicized and I think that somebody should be the Anonymous Source. Or the politician who is playing a game of Let's pretend I'm Anonymous Source. Or politicians who spew lies using their real names.

Really, you mean the assessment made by these four intelligence agencies about the Russian hackings is not enough for you. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency.

The premise of the story is of the Russian hacking. Instead, for you its about a mistake made by the Times about how many agencies signed off on the assertion of Russia interference.

For me these four saying its so is good enough. If you're American and not just a sockpuppet, it should be enough for you as well.

GOP Operative Sought Clinton Emails From Hackers, Implied a Connection to Flynn

Republican who said he was working with Michael Flynn tried to get Hillary Clinton emails from hackers

A Republican operative who said he was working with former Trump campaign adviser Michael Flynn tried to obtain Hillary Clinton’s emails from hackers, according to a report.

Emails from before the 2016 presidential election show that Peter Smith and his associates treated the future National Security adviser and his company as “allies” in their search, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

Smith, a private equity financier, died at 81 on May 14, according to a Chicago-area obituary.

The Journal reported that it spoke to him 10 days before his death, when he said he knew Flynn but never stated that Flynn was involved in his email plan that began around Labor Day 2016.

Attribution of intrusions is very difficult, especially since the NSA developed tools which allow anyone to look like anyone else.

So do you really think that the NSA (which BTW engaged in illegal surveillance of possibly millions of people, and lied about it to the press, and which to this day maintains a database of illegally/ questionably obtained surveillance data) and its sister agencies (which freely access the NSA database) would have done anything to reveal its masquerading software?

Nope! They'd all line up, shoulder-to-shoulder, and claim "the Russians did it". And BTW, the FBI never even examined the server containing Podesta's email. They just let some third-party tell them what happened. Consdiering how the FBI bungled the Hillary email investigation, I wouldn't trust them to investigate my shoelaces.

If anything, this story exonerates this one particular individual. And if he really DID have a connection to Flynn, it exonerates Flynn as well.

To that I will respond with an article from the Times, and I would remind you, time is on my side.

Free Advice to Trump Aides: Quit While You Can

” No one knows the next national joke that will have Mr. Spicer as a punch line, but one thing is clear. As long as he works for this president, he is unlikely to recover his dignity.

“General McMaster spent decades defending this nation, earning his integrity and honor. Trump squandered it in less than 12 hours,” responded the Republican strategist John Weaver in a tweet. The journalist and former speechwriter for George W. Bush, David Frum, asked: “How does McMaster not resign today? That thing he said ‘did not happen’ the president has just defended doing.”

The same is true of most people in Mr. Trump’s orbit. To serve this president is to be diminished.

It took Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein a mere two weeks in the administration to trash his sterling reputation through his involvement in Mr. Comey’s firing. Trump associates have tried to pin the blame for the president’s manifold displays of incompetence on the White House chief of staff, Reince Priebus — whose internal nickname, according to The Week, is Rancid — but the truth is that Mr. Trump is ruining Mr. Priebus’s reputation, not vice versa. Lesser-known figures will also probably find that their time in the administration has hindered, rather than helped, their career prospects.

As Mr. Stephanopoulos noted in 1998, “A single trip to the grand jury can cost you $10,000.”

Congressional and legal investigations into Mr. Trump’s presidency — including his ties to Russia, his firing of Mr. Comey and the overlap of his business interests and his governing responsibilities — are likely to be even more extensive than those Mr. Clinton faced, particularly if Democrats take back either house of Congress next year.

Meanwhile the Democrats are squandering yet ANOTHER golden opportunity, just like Obama squandered a golden opportunity when he came into office.

The more the Democrats engage in this pettiness, the more THEY will be tainted with Trump. Instead of harassing the President over nonexistent illegalities, they should be coming up with credible plans to solve America's problems. If they spent as much press time talking abut their plans as they did griping about everything "Trump", they would stand a much better chance of winning the next election,

What nonsense on their part. That's not leadership. Come up with something better.

It occurs to me that this ongoing and pointless investigation of nothing may create the same backlash as Ken Starr's relentless expedition up Bill Clinton's anus and into his colon, looking for something ... ANYthing ... with which to hang Bill. And impeaching a President because he lied about his sex life- which, really, should remain private - was a travesty of justice. That's the reason that MoveOn.org was founded, and rightly so!

Now, I didn't vote for Bill the second time. but that wasn't because of Monica or Whitewater, that was because of his bad policies. And, just to restate, so that I don't get accused of AGAIN "changing my story" those policies were:

Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA)
Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)
Commodities Futures Modernization Act
Repeal of Glass-Steagall
NAFTA/CAFTA; WTO; and a "landmark trade deal" with China
Ending "welfare as we know it"
Don't ask, don't tell

Anyway, I'm wondering if a kind of emotional backlash is beginning already. I think people are starting not to care. And if the stock market implodes like I think it will, or other financial meltdowns occur, then people REALLY won't care about "Russia" ... or even "Syria" for that matter. They'll have far more important things to worry about.

So the whole "17 intelligence agencies confirm Russian hacking" story the Dems eagerly and desperately latched on to and gleefully spread was a big lie. It was total bullshit. Once again Susan Rice lied her ass off on tv to the American people. So did CNN, MSNBC, and the major networks.

They tell and repeat the lie thousands of times since 2016, and then there's a quick silent retraction, but by then their vile lies have taken root. I never believed any of it. How fucking pathetic for those that did.

Quote:

Correction: June 29, 2017

A White House Memo article on Monday about President Trump’s deflections and denials about Russia referred incorrectly to the source of an intelligence assessment that said Russia orchestrated hacking attacks during last year’s presidential election. The assessment was made by four intelligence agencies — the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. The assessment was not approved by all 17 organizations in the American intelligence community.

I'm just gonna say I knew about this a long time ago. WAaaaayyy back when, I posted a link to the original assessment, which did NOT have the signatures of all 17 agencies, and of the 4 agencies that DID sign on, the FBI I believe, demurred on the conclusion specifically.

But, not too many people are interested in original documents and facts.

SIG, 1kiki, you being Bolsheviks, or members of the Russian Social Democratic Party, you don't understand how our intelligence agencies work; or coordinate. Besides, what you do here is lie to protect Russia. So, even if you did understand you would still lie.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, the DNI, works closely with a President-appointed, Senate-confirmed Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence to effectively integrate all national and homeland security intelligence in defense of the homeland and in support of U.S. national security interests.

He spoke for all of our intelligence agencies regarding the Russian interference. That's a part of his job comrades. He stated that after reviewing it, all 17 signed off on the evidence collected by the four agencies your article speaks too. What you're suggesting is a lie, is instead semantics. All 17 agencies did not collect the intelligence. But they all signed off on it. All that is needed is for Coats to confer with them and state what their beliefs are. And he did.

Your guys would never pass our citizenship or nationalization test.

Wouldn’t that be fun?’: Listen to Trump rally Republican donors with threats to sue CNN over Russia

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/06/wouldnt-that-be-fun-listen-to-trump-ra
lly-republican-donors-with-threats-to-sue-cnn-over-russia

Below is a partial list that we hope to make comprehensive of folks whom Trump has threatened to sue since he ran for president. If you’ve been on the receiving end of a threat, or know of some person or group who was, email me at ryan@huffingtonpost.com and we’ll add it to the list.

Meanwhile, enjoy this fabulous Trump clock, which counts the amount of time since he last threatened to sue anybody.

The New York Times

Trump said he was going to sue the Times for publishing details about his tax returns. Lawyers laughed off the threat, and he never followed up on it.

America

If he loses the election and feels he was wronged, Trump has vowed to sue.

Women who accuse him of sexual assault

Trump used his address in Gettysburg over the weekend to say that one of his first acts as president will be to sue all of the many women who are accusing him publicly of sexual assault or harassment. The threat is unlikely to be acted upon, but it serves to intimidate other women from coming forward. It doesn’t appear to be working, as new women who say he assaulted them emerge nearly every day.

Ted Cruz

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was not a natural-born citizen, Trump argued, and therefore ineligible to run for president. Trump suggested he’d sue to keep him off the ballot.

The Republican National Committee

Trump warned officials at the RNC they would be “in default of their pledge” if they didn’t step in and tell Cruz to play nice with him. He also threatened to sue the RNC over delegate allocation in Louisiana, because he’d been outmaneuvered on the ground by opponents.

Tony Schwartz

The author of The Art of the Deal told The New Yorker that Trump is a cretin who shouldn’t get anywhere near the White House. Trump threatened to sue.

The Washington Post

At a rally in February, Trump turned to his favorite topic: the media. “If I become president, oh, do they have problems. They’re gonna have such problems,” Trump said of The New York Times, before speaking in more general terms.

“One of the things I’m gonna do … is I’m gonna open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money. We’re gonna open up those libel laws,” he said. “So that when The New York Times writes a hit piece which is a total disgrace, or when The Washington Post … writes a hit piece, we can sue them and win money, instead of having no chance of winning because they’re totally protected.”

People magazine

It was actually Melania Trump who threatened People, but her husband would no doubt be along for the ride.

An anti-Trump T-shirt maker

Trump sent a cease-and-desist letter to a company producing T-shirts that made fun of Trump.

A British student nightclub

This month, a couple of mates put together a poster depicting Trump as a scary joker. He didn’t laugh and threatened to sue.

Univision

“I’m right now suing Univision for $500 million,” Trump said in July 2015, while attacking a Telemundo reporter. He filed the lawsuit after Univision dropped his beauty pageants in response to his remarks about Mexicans being rapists, which Univision said “destroyed the value” of his brand. They settled for undisclosed terms.

José Andrés

He sued the celebrity chef for cutting ties with him in the wake of Trump’s Mexican rapist comments.

Club for Growth

The conservative group tried to galvanize the #NeverTrump movement with a million dollars’ worth of ads against him during the GOP primary. He’ll see you in court, Club for Growth. (Actually, no, he won’t.)

A British artist

Ilma Gore’s sketch of Trump with a tiny penis earned her a different kind of legal threat. He didn’t order a takedown, but rather said he wanted a piece of the action if the artwork sold.

The Associated Press

For a story he didn’t like.

John Kasich

The Huffington Post and Rolling Stone

I had forgotten about this one and, when I stumbled on it, was surprised to realize I had actually replied in real time to it. As I recall, he was tweeting about us in the middle of NCAA basketball.

Bill Maher

A lot of readers are reminding us of the time Trump threatened to sue Bill Maher to claim a $5 million reward for proving he himself was not sired by an orangutan. He did actually try to sue Maher, but the case was dismissed in late 2013. We know this was before his presidential bid, but here’s the background, just for fun.

Geoffrey Zakarian

Thanks also to readers who noted that Trump sued chef Geoffrey Zakarian after he bailed on Trump’s D.C. hotel in the wake of Trump’s rapist remarks. The family has been unable to fill the space, and Zakarian has counter-sued.

CNN didn't threaten to "sue" anyone, they threatened to "dox" him.

Trump is a blowhard and a bully. But we all knew that. And please don't say that I'm changing my mind about Trump, otherwise I'll have to go back into my old posts and drag up even more negative things I've said about Trump and shove them up your ass.

But what does that have to do with CNN publishing fake news?? If you don't trust Trump (and you shouldn't) then you shouldn't trust CNN either. They're at about the same level, yanno?

BTW- one of the fascinating aspects of the Trump Presidency is that it's as if a big rock in DC got kicked over, and now we see all the squirmy things underneath ... the squirmy things in the press, the crawlies in the security-state, the wigglies in oligarchies, and of course the creepy things in the WH. Let's just imagine if the tables were turned, and Trump threw a fit over a GIF image that somebody made, had a team hunt down the person on taxpayer dollars and bullied him into apologizing to the world for it.

Then Trump made a statement saying that he is not going to give out the person's private information because they apologized for it and swore that they would no longer engage in that behavior online.

But then concluded the statement saying "I reserve the right to make his information public if he goes back online and does it again".

That is bullying. That is petty. That is most likely illegal.

If CNN doesn't fire Andrew Kaczynski over this, they're done.

Not that I even think that it's Andrew's fault. He just did what he was being paid to do. But if they don't even feel the need to fire him now that this has blown up in their face it's over for CNN.

The CIA News Network (CNN)

There goes CNN showing its clown ass again. ...

Has the smoke cleared yet?

As a much younger man and wacky artist in a previous life I would have many occasions to visit the Time Life building in Alexandria VA delivering 'copy and paste-up boards' to the art departments at various publications. ....... I noticed right away that the place was always over run with spooks and spook spin doctors. ..... They were everywhere, all of the time. .. In the halls, in meetings with editors and writers and lurking in the stairwells. ...... You would go to the men's room and there would be Odd Job picking rat fur out of his teeth in the mirror after a quick lunch in the alley. ... You would get in an elevator and some James Bond looking squirrelly dude would be adjusting the ankle holster for his little Beretta 380 between floors. Probably on his way to waving it at some editor in chief for not towing the line.

A little nudge here, a little intimidation over there, some tickets to a Hawaiian vacation in an envelope. ... Trust me, I've seen the title to cute little beach house in Florida change hands for NO apparently good reason other than somebody changed a few lines in a fucking 'fictional' spy novel before it went to press.

The Time Life place was a spook zoo. And then Warner bought in and the reporting really turned to shit. ..... The same with the Washington Post Building downtown DC, the CIA's home away from home.

The IC has plenty of money and resources to make the story anything they chose. ........ It's almost as if they personally know some master counterfeiter and can order a batch of cash any time they want. (Yes, that's a joke,..........NOT! ... They just the US Printing Office and official printing plates to keep the quality up.)

My point is, the Intelligence Community has been thoroughly controlling everything you see, hear and read in news papers, magazines, books, TV and on the radio. ... I have always known we were being fed a certain amount of "Ra, ra, ra, USA, USA!" spin, but you can only spin something just so much before parts start flying off of the cobbled up bull crap sandwich they slap together.

I stopped watching TV a long time ago.

Once you see sausage being made it's hard to enjoy a Jimmy Dean Breakfast Puppy (Tm). ...... You know what I mean, Vern?

I used to have the Sunday Wapo delivered way out at my home in the sticks and I would skim the headlines and then go straight to the Comics Section and Doonsbury and Calvin and Hobbs to get the gory details on current events. .......... I would use Larson and The Far Side as my Editorial Opinion guru source of wisdom in depth analysis.

Fiction and comedy are the only way to get the truth out past the CIA news control board. ... The CIA are good at two things. .... Stealing shit and lying. ... Or forcing other people to lie for them.

Anyone who doesn't think the media is totally spook controlled and that they are constantly blowing smoke up your arse for completely nefarious, evil, selfish purposes should have the batteries checked in their little smoke alarm near the exit sign. ... It may have been smoke damaged and totally defective by now if fresh batteries don't help.

Live Hard, Apply The Reverse News Rule Often,....If CNN Says Something Is Big, Ugly And Yellow It Is Probably Little, Cute And Purple, Die Free

UNLIKE CNN< which freely cites "anonymous sources" which can never be verified, PV videos can be backtracked, examined, and responded to. If you take CCN seriously, why should I take YOU seriously? Because you apparently can't figure out how to separate fact from fiction.

Rachel Maddow Caught In Latest Fake News Scandal; Proof Her "Forged NSA Document" Segment Was A Hoax

She thought she had it. The smoking gun that would prove someone in Trump's campaign colluded with the Russians to steal the 2016 election. But, when a forged NSA document sent to Rachel Maddow turned out to be just more bad information from more anonymous sources, it left the crusading MSNBC host feeling a bit "triggered." As such, she opened her show last night with the following segment:

“Somebody, for some reason, appears to be shopping a fairly convincing fake NSA document that purports to directly implicate somebody from the Trump campaign in working with the Russians in their attack in the election."
“This is news, because: why is someone shopping a forged document of this kind to news organizations covering the Trump-Russia affair?”- Maddow

...

Here are more details of Maddow's show from the Daily Caller:

On June 7, an unidentified person sent documents to an online tip line for Maddow’s show, she said. That was two days after The Intercept published legitimate NSA documents that were stolen by Reality Winner, a contractor for the agency.

And that's where Maddow's faux-outrage breaks down. You see, if it's clear that Maddow received her forgery after the intercept published their documents then there's really no 'there' there. Pretty much anyone with an internet connection could have simply taken the Reality Winner documents from The Intercept website and used them create a forgery to send to Maddow.

Of course, Maddow knew that her whole story was bullshit unless she could convince her viewers that the forgery she received was created before The Intercept published it for the world to see. If she could prove that, then she could insist the forged document must have come from someone on the 'inside.'

So, she decided to get 'technical' and take a look at the "metadata" on the document she received. As it turns out, the "creation date" on the document she received was roughly 3.5 hours before The Intercept published their Reality Winner story. See, it's all laid out right here on this lovely timeline graphic. Checkmate, Mr. Trump!

Except, not. Ironically, by stretching the truth in an attempt to prove that her story was in any way relevant, Maddow unwittingly proved exactly the opposite.

As The Intercept has subsequently pointed out, the "creation date" on the document received by Maddow (see the timeline above) perfectly matches, to the exact second, the "creation date" on The Intercept's Reality Winner document.

Why? Because that is the exact time in which The Intercept created their document and published it to their cloud server.

So, what seems ... likely to have happened here is that Maddow's staff could easily tell the "NSA document" was a forgery from the start and simply ignored it at first. After all, she received the document on June 7th and is just now deciding to talk about it a month later? Unlikely.

But, when 3 journalists from CNN lost their jobs for publishing fake news, Maddow saw an opportunity to launch a whole new narrative attacking the Trump administration by alleging that they're planting fake intelligence reports with the media. Never let a good crisis go to waste...as they say.

Edward Snowden summarized the situation the best in a series of tweets:

Maddow's lawyerly defense of why her implication was wrong is disappointing. Such caution should come prior to raising alarm on national TV.

When the media's credibility is under attack, rushing stories out before checking facts and contacting the subject is hard to comprehend.

That said, journalism is hard and mistakes happen. When they do, as in this Maddow case, apologies should be frank and unequivocal.

When we start getting economical with facts, we lose. This important story was mangled by needlessly injected an unsupportable conspiracy.

Each time the media gets a prominent story wrong right now, I wince. More than egg on a famous face, it risks a generation's trust in news.

If our most famous journalists are so proud they can't admit to what is now an obvious error, how can they hope to hold the public trust?

Most folks can't read three different papers every day. If we don't set the highest standard, many give up and say the truth is unknowable.

That is the twilight of an age. — Edward Snowden (@Snowden) July 7, 2017

Still, we do feel badly for the liberal 'journalists' of the world...all the embarrassing fake news stories of late means that they may have to actually start doing their jobs rather than just blindly running stories from 'anonymous sources.'

You're losing big time.

I don't think you understand how Corporate Media works. They'll do great as long as Trump is president - he's a nuclear tornado avalanche waiting to happen and people can't look away. Boring Hillary would have sunk them to having to double their Genie Mose segments and expand their "entertainment" features. Trump is tv gold.

BTW - Turns out CNN producer never threatened "the kid" (who was an adult). More pro-Trump anti-FreePress bullshite.

And now he's facing death threats:
"Those tensions may have reached a fever pitch this week, as The Daily Beast reported that Kaczynski and his family are facing harassment and death threats, and CNN staffers have begun to fear for their safety."

Take that for what it is, fake or real - all normal in the Land of Trump.

I'm losing?

I don't see how that is possible, even in the way that you intended it to mean.

This isn't my war. I'm just sitting on the side lines spending my $5k or so a year, not working for somebody else, engaging my hobbies and really whatever the hell I want to do and actually enjoying it now that I'm not piss drunk every other day and I'm just watching the idiots eat each other.

Make no mistake though, that if we were on different sides in your so-called "war", you would be the one who is losing now.

Just look around you.

I'm perfectly okay with the direction things are going right now.

I'm not the one losing my shit.

Everything is copacetic.
