My life has been a net positive this year since I stopped drinking. I've slowly dug my way out of the hole I've created for myself.

While people like you bitch and whine about the sky falling everyday and how 2017 is the worst year ever, there are people who are still making their own lives better without succumbing to the inane babbleing of their own respective echo chambers.

I made a point which went completely over your head when I didn't post here for a month. That point was that although I was gone and had done a great deal in that time to improve my own situation and help other people that I care about, the world still turned regardless.

While you were here "fighting the good fight" and getting absolutely nothing done against things that were way out of your reach and influence, I was actually getting shit done.

Maybe our country is under attack. I give everything 50/50. Everything.

If the MSM on one side wasn't constantly coming up with a million reasons why Trump is a piece of shit, and the other side of the MSM wasn't constantly coming up with a million reasons why the exact opposite was true, there might be something worth paying attention to.

As it is, there is no reason to do it other than entertainment.

So if our country is under attack as you say it is, what are you doing about it?

Name one tangible thing you've done to fend them off.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I'm pretty sure I never said it was time for the democrats to start speaking about Russians comrade sig. I think the media coverage is doing a good job of it. I only posted what some democrats said.

Nope, the message has to be inclusive. They need to speak to what concerns the white male voter of the middle class. They need to reengage with the democrats they've lost in the past few years.

Seriously, THUGR, you keep clinging to "mainstream" like it was some sort of mental life-raft.

But what IS "mainstream"?

It's merely the "official" version; the way TPTB want you to see things. Once upon a time, that was the Church. The earth was the center of the solar system: so sayeth the "mainstream". Now its the corporate press, publishing what's best for them.

ON FRIDAY, FACEBOOK made available a tool to allow users to see whether they had liked or followed a page linked to Russia’s attempt to influence the 2016 US election.

Facebook had promised to make such a tool available in November, after the company revealed in a congressional hearing that more than 140 million people may have been exposed to Russia-linked propaganda during the 2016 election cycle.

OMG!!! CALL THE CDC!!! Somebody MIGHT HAVE SEEN a comment MAYBE posted by someone linked to Russia!

During the hearings earlier this year, Facebook released roughly 3,000 ads that it said it had linked to Russian accounts. But it has never released a list of the accounts and pages that it linked to Russia’s efforts.

Former CIA director defends top FBI officials amid Trump attacks

Former CIA Director John Brennan came to the defense of two senior FBI officials on Saturday after President Trump targeted the pair on Twitter.

Brennan tweeted that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and top FBI lawyer James Baker "epitomize integrity, competence, and respect for rule of law."

"Not surprised @realDonaldTrump fears them, along with the rest of FBI," continued Brennan

John Brennan is a notorious liar. He lied to Congress and therefore to the American people many times about his CIA's illegal surveillance programs, about the CIA's illegal torture programs, about the CIA's secret drone program, and about how transparent he was prepared to be.

Quote:

CIA director John Brennan lied to you and to the Senate. Fire him

As reports emerged Thursday that an internal investigation by the Central Intelligence Agency’s inspector general found that the CIA “improperly” spied on US Senate staffers when researching the CIA’s dark history of torture, it was hard to conclude anything but the obvious: John Brennan blatantly lied to the American public. Again...

“Let me assure you the CIA was in no way spying on [the committee] or the Senate,” he said.

...Brennan was forced to privately apologize to intelligence committee chairs in a “tense” meeting earlier this week.

[AND]In a little noticed story last week, McClatchy reported that the CIA has also been spying on emails from whistleblower officials and Congress

As Obama’s top counterterrorism advisor for his entire first term in the White House, Brennan built, oversaw, executed and excused America’s robotic assassination [DRONE] program. During a speech in 2011, the keeper of the kill list said there had not been “a single collateral death” from US drone strikes because of their “exceptional proficiency [and] precision”

... Brennan promised to be “as open as possible with these programs”; [BUT] we know almost nothing. What we do know, has been pried from the CIA by lawsuits and court orders.

... Brennan also fed the public wildly inaccurate details about the Osama bin Laden raid in 2011, and despite condemning leaks of classified information from others, he has often leaks classified information himself to suit his own needs. This is not the type of guy who is going to resign because of some report he doesn’t like; this is the type of spy who apologizes even though he’s not sorry, who lies because he doesn’t like to tell the truth.

Posting from any source is alright, so long as the source is saying what I want to hear. G, stop wetting your pants.

I read the article that you linked; there was nothing in there about the ads having been shown millions of times. What it said was, and I quote

Quote:

more than 140 million people may have been exposed to Russia-linked propaganda during the 2016 election cycle.

Now, first of all, we're "exposed to" thousands to tens of thousands of ads per day. Almost NONE of them break our "attention barrier": According to the research (that I posted, which you apparently didn't read) we (maybe) notice a hundred ads, and probably pay attention to far fewer.
Quote:

Of course, most people won’t actually recall seeing 10,000 messages. This is because, in order to keep our sanity, we’ve developed a screening process to ignore most advertising messages. Less than 100 of them make it past our “attention wall” each day https://www.redcrowmarketing.com/2015/09/10/many-ads-see-one-day/

So you're jumping from "140 million may have been exposed" to 140 million actually noticed, read, and were influenced by these ads. But just because some random ad was flashed up on the sidebar of a website doesn't mean it was noticed or responded to. FB could pop this hysteria right away by airing the ads that they THOUGHT were Russian-based. Then we could judge for ourselves whether we even saw or noticed them or thought they were effective.

But according to TPTB, god forbid that the "common man" (or woman) have to think about new ideas. Clearly, TPTB feel that you (i.e. they) must be "protected" from a different POV. Democracy and the "marketplace of ideas" .... not something they advocate; apparently that is bad news (for them).

That's why I made the CDC analogy: of the many people who "may have been exposed" to a virus, fewer actually were and even fewer were infected. To carry the analogy farther, whether those "exposed" were infected depends in part on the robustness of a person's immune system. If people's mental durability is weak, they'll be more influenced by "fake news" (i.e. "lies") than people who know how to parse truth from fiction.

BTW, no, I don't participate in social media. Just like OONJERAH. It's a soul-destroying, life-sucking experience, programmed to keep you tied to those little dopamine-producing "hits" which keep you addicted. SM is for suckers.
http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/technology/2017/11/facebook_w
as_designed_to_be_addictive_does_that_make_it_evil.html

The LAST thing that TPTB want out of their populace is people who will think for themselves.

Then maybe those voting-age suckers should get a little more educated and a little less sheeple-ish.

FB would do a great service to the population at large if it would post the ads that it THOUGHT (no evidence that we know of) were linked to Russia.

Then the purchasers of the ads could come forward and possibly clear their name, and the viewers of the ads could re-view them in a new context. And people could actually start thinking about the issues instead of reacting to the dog whistle RUSSIA!.

As I posted before, propaganda and lies can be countered with facts and truth ... not with MORE propaganda! Transparency is key.

It would be a decades-long conversation, but it is a conversation long looooong overdue, and that conversation is not in the interests of TBTB. So any real discussion of real issues is shut down as soon as possible.

The person who doesn't understand this "new world" is you, because it's the same old world (those in power control the means of communication) with a new technology.

Are you saying that people are uneducable? That they should continue to be subject to advertising and propaganda (which are really the same) for the rest of their lives?

You don't believe in education? I thought you were all for it!

Quote:

What? "... the purchasers of the ads could come forward and possibly clear their name..." Right, they could come forward and explain why they were trying to influence our election. Wait, we already know.
HOW MANY entities do you think "purchased ads" to "influence the election"?

Hundreds? Thousands? TENS of thousands???

Quote:

What are you lying about now? FB has evidence
Once again, you seem not to understand what "evidence" is. FB has accusations, maybe they even have legitimate suspicions, but in terms of "evidence" - none was mentioned in the article that you posted. No IP addresses were ID'd, no trace of translation from Cyrillic. No time stamps. No nothing.

So we only have Facebook's WORD that ads were "linked to" Russia. Now, as I read the vetting process, it was very much like THUGR's: I don't like the content so it must be Russia-linked! I looked it up. I think you should too. MOST of those ads were placed in ... what year? I bet you don't know!

IF THE ADS WERE POSTED, THOSE LEGITIMATE PURCHASERS WHO WERE UNFAIRLY CHARACTERIZED could come forward and identify themselves. THOSE ADS LEFT TWISTING IN THE WIND could then be more reliably identified as suspect.

Quote:

No they can't! Just look who won the election - the biggest liar on the planet.
Hillary lost, and SHE'S one of the biggest liars on the planet.

The election of Trump was one giant protest vote. A few ads here and there ... and you think it swung the election. Really????

The people investigating Hillary and Trump have a deep political anti-Trump bias. They're being demoted, fired, kicked out of investigations, or are "retiring" when in reality they should probably be fired or charged.

The alphabet-agency purveyors of the "RUSSIA!" hysteria are professional liars. The DNC was demonstrated to be irremediably corrupt in way both personal and political, and in ways both large and small. The election is over and done with, the "evidence" is evaporating even as we watch, and you're STILL barking about Russia??

Don't you have anything more important to think about?

Yeah... I'm not a lawyer, but I'd just recommend not going on that assumption unless you actually read a law stating that. Even if you do find one, I'd make sure that it really means anything because for instance if the state of California had a law protecting all emails from being posted without consent of all parties, who's to say that would mean anything if you were communicating with anybody outside of the state of California?

I just operate on the assumption that anything I send to anybody on an email is potentially just as public as posting something to Twitter or Facebook or just here in the RWED.

Not arguing with you. Just something you might want to consider.

“act of war” against the U.S.

In the wake of last week’s indictments alleging that 13 Russian nationals and entities created fake social media accounts and sponsored political events to sow political discord in the U.S., something of a consensus has arisen in the political and media class (with some notable exceptions) that these actions not only constitute an “act of war” against the U.S., but one so grave that it is tantamount to Pearl Harbor and 9/11. Indeed, that Russia’s alleged “meddling” is comparable to the two most devastating attacks in U.S. history has, overnight, become a virtual cliché.

The claim that Russian meddling in the election is “an act of war” comparable to these events isn’t brand new. Senators from both parties, such as Republican John McCain and Democrat Jeanne Shaheen, have long described Russian meddling in 2016 as an “act of war.” Hillary Clinton, while promoting her book last October, described Russia’s alleged hacking of the DNC and John Podesta’s email inbox as a “cyber 9/11.” And last February, the always-war-hungry Tom Friedman of the New York Times said on Morning Joe that Russian hacking “was a 9/11 scale event. They attacked the core of our democracy. That was a Pearl Harbor scale event.”

But the last few days have ushered in an explosion of this rhetoric from politicians and journalists alike. On Friday night’s Chris Hayes show on MSNBC, two separate guests – Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler and long-time Clinton aide Philippe Reines – posited Pearl Harbor as the “equivalent” of Russian meddling, provoking a shocked reaction from Hayes:

Facebook's latest plan to thwart Russia: send postcards

Facebook will send postcards to verify the location and identity of people buying election-related advertising in a bid to curb foreign nationals' ability to influence American politics.

Britain just got tough on Putin — and put Trump in a very tough spot

British Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday accused the Russian government of at least being complicit in an “unlawful use of force” on British soil in the poisoning of former Russia spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter last week. May gave the Russian government a day to offer a response, without which she said the attack would be regarded as an action “by the Russian state against the United Kingdom” and would lead to consequences.

The Trump administration has issued long-delayed sanctions against five Russian entities and 19 individuals for 2016 election interference and other cyber-attacks. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell and Tom Winter report.

This is what I've been waiting for. Trump has no choice at this point and can't block this anymore. The vote for these sanctions was what, 6 months ago, and passed with a veto proof majority. I hope this is only the beginning.

Yep, he did it. Something like 26 hours before he was too retire. The good news is that several democrats have offered him temporary jobs so he can get his pension. Fuck you Trump. Hope we can return the favor.
