Yeah, pilots and Marines w/ an agenda. Fine. those pilots and their birds can fly in almost any weather, for combat reasons.

This wasn't combat. This was a taxi service. One that likely had some level of risk.

Possible he didn't want his noggin to get wet and mess up his Gollum like scalp ? Sure, what ever. But what else is he gonna say ? He didn't want to go, so he didn't go. End of story. Rest of it is clearly fake news.

HMX-1 likely had no issue with flying itself in Zero Visibility. But what about landing? Was Visibility adequate for Secret Service to ensure a secured Landing Zone? I doubt they had a designated helipad there.

Perhaps some issue with potential hovercraft, drones too small to be detected? Marine One does not have much of a Glide Ratio.

And if there is a chopper in the air, amid much publicity, with Zero Visibility, all of France is going to know who is on board. And with unrestricted immigration of Hamas, AL Queda, and their backpack missiles, a ripe target would be made.

I kinda doubt the decision was made by POTUS, or HMX-1, but more likely USSS.

BRENDA, it's not "the military" who would make the decision to fly - or not; or to drive- or not.

It's the Secret Service, whose duty it is to protect the President. A helicopter may be PHYSICALLY capable of flying in bad weather, but Secret Service may decide that the risk (not necessarily even of crashing, but even of an unexpected attack under cover of bad weather) just isn't worth it.
