He was fine when he got here. Perhaps he shouldn't have been seized, locked up, and neglected until he died.

We have laws. Your fascist hero ignores what's right, in order to fan the deep hatred you feel for anyone not as backward as you.

Being so gullible and not very bright, you swallow the shit whole.

CNN?
Isn't that the same gang that claimed the Guatemalen girl was in custody for days without food or water, while in fact was apprehended less than 2 hours before, more than 90 minutes drive away from the nearest Border Facility - after invading by crossing our Border?

This is like the girl who died .... apparently she had been without food or water ... not for a few hours but for DAYS ... when she was in the care of her loving father.

Yes, the fucking Europeans who first landed on Plymouth Rock should have stayed in England and been fucked by King George. You know what would have stopped those scheming bastards, a WALL.

Don't worry Jack, you're not the only one to say such a stupid fucking thing.
A Hispanic friend also said something similar, and when I pointed out to him
that he was wrongheaded about this; he tried to bring up his service to our country.

Fuck that dude, this motherfucker has insulted blacks, Latinos, Jews, Muslims, etc. You think he gives two shits about you or your service...not a chance.
This fat fuck hasn't even had the balls to visit the troops in any overseas
theaters. He's a big Trump supporter, but when I tell him he thinks all Latinos are Mexican, and that he despises brown people everywhere, and that sooner or later he will find himself locked away in one of Trump's make-shift
concentration camps, he just laughs.

I told him that Trump has already revoked the military service of several Latinos who were not naturalized. He said it was fake news. Poor slob, he doesn't have a clue. If Trump survives the next two years, and gets
re-elected, it's going to happen. And if that happens, this country will top
Germany in gas-house killings and indentured servants.

Ahhh, the good old days.

On 13 Dec CNN reported she had been apprehended a couple hours before needing medical care.
On 15 Dec cNN changed their narrative to 48 hours.
Other reasonable, capable, rational News reports said a couple hours, up to a max of 8 hours.

Yes, CNN did lie. Intentionally.

But you stay glued to their coverage to learn why Santa didn't visit your house.

Of course he laughs. Everything you say to him is ridiculous.

Guatemala can't be all that bad, brother. They have a democratically elected president who was a former TV comedian with no political experience. The article in the OP states that "Guatemala's Foreign Ministry in a statement Tuesday also asked for an investigation and access to the boy's medical records." Hardly something that an oppressive regime would be interested in.

... That is, of course, unless the father was a criminal and was fleeing the country and the Guatemalan government is using this boy's death as a way to get info on where exactly the father is right now. We know nothing about this man other than his country of origin.

SHINY, you're always looking that this from the perspective of the immigrant.

But for once, look at this from the perspective of the native .... the REAL natives of the Americas- indigenous tribes of N, S, and Central America and the Caribbeans.

Are you saying that unrestricted immigration worked for THEM???? Because, the reality is that many of the original natives of the Americas welcomed the new immigrants. In N America they gave them corn and turkey and save them from starvation, they "helped" the new immigrants by learning THEIR language and intermarrying with THEIR people.

What happened to them?

IN REALITY, the natives should have shot the white invaders, and kept on shooting until there was nobody left to take word back to England.

As YOU said- you look at this from personal experience. YOU are pro-immigrant, and not necessarily pro-American. You paper over this contradiction by conflating "pro-immigrant" with "pro-America" by claiming immigration is what made American great, but in reality the two aren't the same. How about we dig a little deeper: WHAT made America great? What is "America" anyway?

So how about WE stop interfering with their nation, and respect their nations' sovereignty?

The way we and I mean my Native American ancestors got guns was through trade. We gave you something that you wanted and guns were given back to us. We knew what they could do and for hunting they were better than a bow and arrow. Same thing with flour and sugar were also trade goods, white man foods. Not so good for us even now.

Columbus had 3 ships with him, and even if the tribes in Central or South America killed the crews of two. One could have gotten away and reported to Spain and word would have spread anyways about gold. More ships would have come.

Even if we killed every Englishman or in Canada the French as well. They would have kept coming. True no reports would have reached back to France or England but the oppression there would not have stopped. And people would have tried anyway to get away from it. It would not have stopped you, meaning Europeans from coming here.

BRENDA ... by "shoot" I didn't mean with guns, I meant with arrows or poison darts or whatever tribes/ nations used in their areas.

And actually almost since nobody expected Columbus to succeed, it wouldn't have surprised anyone if they never came back. Remember, in the day most people thought that the earth was flat and would have assumed that he went off the edge.

An early Greek astronomer/geographer/geometer (Eratosthenes) long before estimated the circumference of the earth (by measuring the different shadow angle of vertical pillars in two different cities) at about 25,000 miles, and the educated people of the day, even knowing that the earth wasn't flat, just assumed that the journey was too long to be survivable. Because please remember that Columbus wasn't looking for the "new world", he was looking for a shorter route to the Orient. So if he and his successors never returned, the investors would have shrugged and simply assumed that for whatever reason the journey just wasn't doable, and simply not invested much more money into it. That might have delayed the invasion of the "New" World by a century or so.

No, wrong again Jacko!

The natives, who were here first, were killed by evil backstabbing and conniving. Disease and cruelty, pretty much like today.
Migrants are told that they will be processed but that they have to wait.
While others seeking asylum are flat out lied to and sent back to the Mexico side, then arrested.

The U.S. reached agreements with the Native Americans several hundred times; each and every one of those was broken by the United States...

It is a pattern of cruelty that hearkens back to the days of
, say it with me, Nazi Germany. Deception and cruelty, plus a stack of outrageous lies.

These "people" talk about following the law and doing things legally, what a fucking joke. The "leader" of the free world breaks the law every day of his life because he feels it doesn't apply to him. What a totally demented scumbag he is...not only that he gets to feed "red meat" to his base.

SHINY, you obviously believe what you want to believe, but a clear reading of history says that when a large migrant population moves in, the natives don't fare well. There have been many mass migrations in human history in which the natives were overtaken by the immigrants. Oh, and BTW, it's not like the white man didn't deliberately slaughter hundreds of thousands of native; it wasn't just a passive invasion by germs that killed natives it was deliberate genocide.

Quote:

A specific mass migration that is seen as especially influential to the course of history may be referred to as a 'great migration'. For example, great migrations include the Barbarian Invasions during the Roman Empire
Hmm... what happened to the Roman Empire, again?

And the Americas?

the California Gold Rush from 1848–1850
The natives of California?

and The Great Oromo Migrations of Oromo tribes during the 15th and 16th centuries in the Horn of Africa.
And the Abyssinians?

Heck, even the invasion of Europe and Asia by Homo Sapiens didn't work out too well for the Neanderthals and Denisovans. Migrations do NOT always work out for the natives, so get your head out of wherever it is and look at reality.

*****

In any case, MY reaction to migrants is that we need to represent Americans first. We treat illegal aliens better than we treat many of our own citizens. Heck, we have homeless families out on the street who dodn't get the help that illegal aliens are getting.

Except for the fact that we have meddled in their nations, we have no moral obligation to take in a lot of migrants. We would be better off ending our interventionism in other nations and working to improve living conditions there instead (and not as just another corporate invasion.)

Using hindsight, it is a shame the Native Americans were not more robust.
Rumor is, they had the whole continent to themselves for 1,000 years or more. England had a population around BC which was sporadic, then effectively overran the borders within 1,000 years.
Man's innate drive to fight and kill fellow Man withered their ranks. Think of all the generations who died from War between Tribes/Nations. Such potential. Lost.

Although the Natives were obviously Occidental, the assumption was that Columbus had overshot the Orient, and these resembled most closely the stories of India Natives. Europeans had dealt pleasantly and peaceably with India, and it was reasonable that such cooperation would result here.
Failures at communication in this previously unknown dialect of India likely caused attacks which were not foreseen, thus creating such a combative reaction.

JSF, WE and I mean Native Americans, Native Canadians and down into South American had this continent to ourselves for between 20,000 to 30,000 years. As I stated in a previous thread earliest site clocks in with Radio Carbon dating at 30,000years in South America.

Yes, and thanks to the infighting the English and French brought to our shores.

We were just fine here and there is no way of knowing what would have happened if Europeans hadn't landed on our shores.

Indians in South America used poisoned darts but you aren't thinking about the metal plate that the soldiers wore. A bone arrow head can go through plate but at its thinnest point. Poison dart only works when you hit an extremely vulnerable area of the body.

In North America proper you are talking about bows and arrows. Bone arrow heads.

True but people were just as curious then as they are now and someone else would have gotten the bright idea to sail the ocean blue looking for more trade routes.

Very true and it could have.

What the fuck indeed is "pro-America? You define it.

I know my fucking history. This is what I'm talking about. Imagine a fucking
wall way back then. You would not have racism, because
a slave was considered less than (mainly due to economics and/or war). But that soon changed to skin color (again, a falsehood, because those with darker skin were considered less than due to economics and intelligence. But intelligence based on what?).

But that is false in and of itself. Would you survive in the jungles of the Amazon? Or in the Swiss Alps? without a guide. A local who "knows" the terrain? No. So where does your IQ fit in the environment? The Pilgrims is a perfect example. The natives helped them survive. They came because of what
exactly? Was it because they wanted to cruise the Atlantic for a new vacation spot?

Say it with me children! Religious persecution. They came to practice religious freedom and escape tyranny under King James. Was that a good enough reason to leave? Did the natives, as you call them, resistant to the arrival of the Europeans? Were they told "fuck you, keep out. You are here to steal
our land."

First, the natives did not believe in ownership of land, although they did live in tribal territories. But obviously they believed that they could share
with these strange people (a sentiment not shared by the right wing motherfuckers who think that this country is theirs, and theirs alone. "Come into the country legally, they say." They don't know the half of it.

What I'm emphasizing is the pure unadulterated hypocrisy. Pointing out the cruel and unusual punishment exacted by the Frump Admin. That's all!
By the way, I am well aware of the plight of the Native American, among others, so please don't try to lecture me on their treatment; then and now.

In case you're wondering...for me, pro-immigrant is pro-American. This is how this country was built, rightly or wrongly, and now, suddenly, motherfuckers want that to change. Why exactly!? The Native American were the first to lead the way in the American spirit. Share and share alike; the 'good neighbor' attitude so that all, the community, would benefit. What the European brought was greed and avarice. The "this is mine" attitude. The captains of industry and so forth.

That "open borders" bullshit is just that - BULLSHIT. It's a right wing tactic
brought to life by Frump and his cohort. Like he says, there are laws in the books that should be followed; just as in the Constitution. Let him follow that law, the one he swore to uphold as president. People are such sticklers
for the law until it doesn't coincide with their agenda...then "watchout!"

Siggy,

This is America, we have some 300 million people living here of all shapes and sizes; of all colors under the rainbow (and inside as well). Right now there are approx 12 million undocumented living in this country; again, of all colors, shapes and sizes. Most of which have overstayed their welcome, even fucking sneaky Russians do it. They travel and oops, I forgot about my work permit (Melania) or I forgot about my travel/student visa. They get into the country and like it so much that they decide it's worth a shot to not leave the country, according to the law.

That British dufus, Mark Burnett, the one who gave us Survivor and The Donald, is here illegally.

Chinatown is full of Chinese who come by the boatload. Indians from India.
And so forth. So please, spare me the invasion propaganda.

SHINY, this was reported ON NPR. Are you saying NPR is lying? Or are you just in denial? Again?

Quote:

They say that, on December 24, a U.S. Border Patrol agent noticed [THE FATHER DIDN'T NOTICE?] that the child showed symptoms of illness, so the boy and his father were transferred to the Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo, N.M. And the child was released midafternoon with prescriptions for an antibiotic and ibuprofen.

But, later that night, he began vomiting and was transferred back to the medical center, where he died shortly after midnight this morning. - NPR

Now, NPR "reports" that the girl who died in custody had been in custody for a week, but every other report that I found ... including one from a Guatemala ministry, said that the interval was more like eight hours

Quote:

The girl and her father were taken into custody around 10 p.m. Dec. 6, accused of illegally crossing into the United States, Border Patrol officials told The Washington Post. The group of 163 people approached CBP agents south of Lordsburg, New Mexico, to turn themselves in.

The Associated Press reported that an official with Guatemala’s foreign ministry identified the girl as Jackeline Caal. Her father was identified as Nery Caal, 29, of Raxruha, a town in the northern Guatemalan department of Alta Verapaz.

Ministry officials told the AP that Jackeline was feverish and vomiting as she and the other migrants were being taken to the Border Patrol station in Lordsburg.

Around 6:25 a.m. the next day, the girl began having seizures ...

hydration-shock-border-patrol-custody/dbWZCrmswRTwAXpdtTB7XN

Once she was found to be ill, she was flown to hospital. Not driven by ambulance... flown. By all accounts, the girl had not eaten or drunk in the DAYS before being taken into custody ... so who was responsible for THAT?

I suggest that you dial down your (misplaced) outrage.

*******

Now, as far as illegal immigrants are concerned ... I have a personal grotch against the illegal Hispanics because they not only feel entitled to be here, they feel entitled not to assimilate because many of them have a grotch against the gringo. Entirely understandable since we have treated their nations so badly in both trade (NAFTA, CAFTA) and war, but still... do we really want people here whose first act is to disrespect our laws and whose second act is to carry a grudge against the USA?

But I'm not too happy with the Chinese either ... and have posted so many times. I DID tell you about my acquaintance ... the Chinese lady ... who thinks the USA is STUPID for letting Chinese immigrants scam the USA, have I not?

Is not one of my solutions to the problem to reform our visa system?

Apparently, you just don't pay attention! So I find YOU arguing with the voices in your head - much like SECOND, GSTRING, and THUGR. Yanno, it would help if you would respond to what people post, and not to the grotch playing endlessly in your own head.

*****

FWIW, I think the USA should simply photo, fingerprint, and immediately deport people who have been found to enter illegally, and make them all ineligible for asylum. Period. Run regular air flights to Honduras or Guatemala or Mexico City or wherever and ship them out as fast as they enter and are captured. We spend a lot of money, and get into a lot of trouble, holding people in custody, because once we have them in custody they become OUR problem.

Now, I understand there will be an inevitable "holding time" for processing, and during that "holding time" people should be checked for illness and given food and water, but that "holding time" shouldn't extend for more than a few days ... or a few weeks, for unaccompanied minors, while the parents are located.

JSF, you should probably read "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond as he attempts to explain WHY the Indo-European culture took over so much of the world.

The points of his argument that I found more persuasive are as follows:

1) Early domestication of animals in the Indus River valley exposed the populations to a wide variety of germs.

2) The nature of geography and latitude: People travel (and migrate) most easily in the same latitude, where the climate is about the same. That way they can take their grains their animals, and their way of life with them. And the northern hemisphere landmasses stretch east-to-west (unlike the southern hemisphere landmasses which stretch more north-to-south). The Indus Valley was also the beneficiary of east-west trade, bringing in MORE germs and winnowing out a more robust population.

3) Eventually that population migrated east-to-west and was able to take its economy with it (and kill off other people in the process). There were extensive empires(?) in the Americas as well, but translating an economy from the high Andes to the southwestern desert was impossible. Also, one of the civilizations (I forget which one but it may have been the Mayan) was killed off by a 30-year drought caused by a volcanic explosion in China; without the ability to move away from their civilizational area (having to cross too many climactic zones) that civilization died in place.

But that tribal "infighting"? It was a feature of early Indo-European society as well ... nothing inherently superior about "the west", socially-speaking. (The Chinese are another story for another day, but they -literally- burned their ships instead of creating a sea-based empire. If they hadn't done that we would all be speaking Chinese today.)

Signym, two million were murdered during the partitioning of India in 1947. It wasn’t the Brits doing the murdering, Signym. That was followed by three million murdered during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Again, it was not the Brits doing the murdering. Like the division of Palestine, artificial lines of separation by colonial masters continue to wreak havoc today.

But be that as it may, the history of the British in south Asia and China was not a peaceable one! It was one of violence almost to the point of genocide and rapacious exploitation.

Was the use of violence an essential part of British rule? Part 2

This doesn't even address the Opium Wars, in which the then-nominal Emperor of China attempted to halt the [British] importation of opium into China (because being a drug-lord was extremely profitable for the British) and was militarily forced into allowing the continued degradation of the Chinese people.

Quote:

The Opium Wars were two wars in the mid-19th century involving China and the British Empire over the British trade of opium and China's sovereignty. The clashes included the First Opium War (1839–1842) and the Second Opium War (1856–1860). The wars and events between them weakened the Qing dynasty and forced China to trade with the other parts of the world.[1][2]

In 1820, China's economy was the largest in the world, according to British economist Angus Maddison.[3] Within a decade after the end of the Second Opium War, China's share of global GDP had fallen by half.[4] In another research paper published by Michael Cemblast of JP Morgan[citation needed] and updated by the World Economic Forum, similar conclusions were reached—i.e. China was the largest economy in the world for many centuries until the Opium Wars.[3]

2) Take it up with NPR, dickwad. That's what they reported.

Parents' fault?

They get super Dooper Air Conditioning there?
Here at the northern border, we can't even get below 40 degrees on a regular basis.

Anyway, this was AFTER intentionally illegally invading a Foreign Country - by choice avoiding a legal Port of Entry.
Yep, parent's fault.
Maybe they should have tried a Port of Entry.

Yes.

It's your fault as well.

There was a time where the children were separated from the parents when they invaded the country, but you guys didn't like that.

How does it feel to know that you killed a kid on Christmas?

REAVERSHIT: The mother left her country because of an "abusive relationship" (not a credible reason to be granted asylum) and DESPITE the fact that her daughter was already sick decided to cross illegally.

What I see here is one bad decision (on her part) after another: She married a creep, she decided to fix the problem by heading for the USA, she crossed illegally despite the fact that her daughter was already sick. She's a wrong-headed woman, and every major decision she made was bad, wrong, and stupid.

Yes, ICE should have taken better care of the baby, but the PRIMARY responsibility for care of the child is with the mother. She was in Mexico, her daughter was given antibiotics, she should have STAYED in Mexico at least until her daughter was 100% better.

I have a daughter and she has been disabled for her whole life, and I can't imagine myself, or ANY mother subjecting her precious child through such pointless rigors. And now she's whining and crying that it's somebody else's fault? Another bad decision, and one indication that she's not taking responsibility for her own mistakes, and not learning from them.

You're already HERE, so congrats on arguing the deaf, dumb and blind side. If you thought the only salvation for your daughter was to flee to Mexico, would you? If you're any kind of a mother you would. More to the point - all you know of this woman is from MSM - you weren't there with them in their home, you don't know them or their life first hand. I suggest you quit GUESSING on a slant to back up your biased agenda.

The mother was in an abusive relationship. If I was in a abusive relationship and I thought the only salvation was to flee to Canada, I would be WRONG.

It would be a different thing if my child had a rare condition and the only treatment was in Canada, but even then ... entering illegally into Canada wouldn't be the answer.

It should be noted that she was in an alleged abusive relationship. That might even not have been true.

Ok, she SAID she was in an abusive relationship.

If I were in her (alleged) shoes, I'd think about going back home to mom, or hitting up one of my siblings for a temporary living space, or looking for a woman's shelter, (absent those resources) getting a divorce or moving to another part of town, or to another city, well before I committed to taking my baby on a 1000-mile journey to the Canadian border. I mean, seriously, what the hell was she thinking?

"Solving" her problem like that is like shooting at a rat with a missile ... kind of overkill, and destructive.

I don't believe any of the story, period.

I won't go full Alex Jones and say that there was no kid. I'm sure a mother did try to cross with her kid and the kid did in fact die of illness.

But the rest of the story surrounding her just seems to have been invented to hit all the right liberal buttons to sensationalize things, especially during the height of the #MeToo movement.

It's no different than the OP bringing up the completely incidental fact that the kid died on Christmas day. Just manipulating emotions of the feeble minded is all.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Looks more like reporting the facts. Feeble minds struggle with facts, as you constantly demonstrate.

The mother of Felipe Gómez Alonzo, the 8-year-old Guatemalan boy who died while in the custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has spoken out about her son’s death. This is Catarina Alonzo.

Catarina Alonzo: “It was a surprise when my husband said that my son died. When I said goodbye to him, he was healthy. But then my husband said he died peacefully. They left because of poverty. My husband called me from Mexico. He said that they had no problem and they were well.”

Gómez Alonzo, who died on Christmas Eve after becoming ill and feverish while detained at a highway checkpoint with his father, is the second child to die in U.S. Border Patrol custody this month. A 7-year-old indigenous Guatemalan girl, Jakelin Caal Maquín, died on December 8, two days after she and her father presented themselves at the border in a bid for asylum.

A recent report by the Center for Migration Studies found that immigration officials systematically and disproportionately deny medical assistance to migrants who speak indigenous languages. Both Jakelin Caal Maquín and Felipe Gómez Alonzo came from indigenous communities in Guatemala.

Yep. Sounds pretty dangerous to try to illegally invade the US border. Especially for children.

I wouldn't recommend it in the future for anybody else to try.

The US doesn't even view "financial refugees" as legitimate refugees in the first place, so these adults were throwing their children in harms way for no reason at all.

Risking their kids for zero ROI.

I do agree that this story should get A LOT more coverage than it has. If it did, these parents would know that they had nothing to gain from trying to do this in the first place and they wouldn't put their children through this for no reason. If they had been educated on the facts, it would have saved two children's lives.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
