When a news outlet changes the news after realizing mistakes were made, a notification about a correction on the story should be posted at the very beginning of the story with the date and the reason for the change. If the change necessitates it, the title should also be altered and the notification of the article change should also show the original title of the article.

Anybody who wasn't a partisan led sheep on either side shouldn't have any problems agreeing with any of this.

If we allow this because of our ideology, it's one step away from Winston erasing history down the memory hole.

I should add to remind anybody who cheer leads any of this behavior because it suits their own belief system that the beliefs of those engaging in it may one day change, or even more likely the power shifts that naturally occur might swing the other way.

Especially, I think, when it comes to the topics of censorship and rewriting history, that we should be extremely vigilant about making it known that we will not tolerate that behavior. Even from people or organizations that we generally tend to agree with.

You never know when the other shoe is going to drop.
