Flynn's broke, Democrats go on lying, and the FBI coup plotters get away with everything. Some justice.

Some measure of justice is coming, regardless. I mean, if a lady in Texas can get tossed in jail for a week because some arrogant tyrannical judge feels like making an example out of her and the audacity of opening her salon a few days early to feed her family and pay the bills, I have to think Flynn can make a few bucks himself off of PayPal, at the very least.

Though it sounds like he won't have to resort to that. He's got a damn good case for wrongful prosecution and a corrupt system.

Now, there's a person who's not about to be confused by the facts.

Fact: Michael Flynn pleaded guilty. Twice. Even President Trump has said his former national security adviser lied to the F.B.I.

When asked about the plea at the time, Mr. Trump said, “I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the vice president and the F.B.I.”

Mr. Flynn did lie, as he admitted to under oath in a court of law — twice. He told investigators, falsely, that he had not communicated with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States, about possible changes to American foreign policy toward Russia even before Mr. Trump took office.

To review: Mr. Barr is now saying he cannot prove charges to which Mr. Flynn has twice pleaded guilty in court — and for which there is ample evidence. Very funny, Mr. Barr. lol.

Mr. Trump, his original explanation for firing Mr. Flynn notwithstanding, promptly crowed that his former aide was an “innocent man” who had been targeted by the Obama administration. Very funny, Mr. Trump. lol.

Not saying anything about anybody's guilt.

Just going to say that it's fairly easy to get false confessions out of people. Especially old people who know that they're going to rot in prison the rest of their lives if they get thrown under the bus.

Flynn was a General. I'm sure he was not addle-brained enough to falsely confess to crimes and to get his lawyers' agreement to falsifying his guilt:

DEFENDANT’S ACCEPTANCE
The preceding statement is a summary, made for the purpose of providing the Court with a factual basis for my guilty plea to the charge against me. It does not include all of the facts known to me regarding this offense. I make this statement knowingly and voluntarily and because I am, in fact, guilty of the crime charged. No threats have been made to me nor am I under the influence of anything that could impede my ability to understand this Statement of the Offense fully.

I have read every word of this Statement of the Offense, or have had it read to me. Pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 11, after consulting with my attorneys, I agree and stipulate to this Statement of the Offense, and declare under penalty of perjury that it is true and correct.

Date: 11/30/17
Michael T. Flynn, Defendant

ATTORNEYS’ ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I have read this Statement of the Offense, and have reviewed it with my client fully. I concur in my client’s desire to adopt and stipulate to this Statement of the Offense as true and accurate.

Like I said, I'm not saying anything about anybody's guilt here.

I'm not going to take a partisan stance and pretend I actually know what went on either way.

The world isn't black or white, and there's many shades of grey. Given that fact, it's very easy to obfuscate things to the point that you can get your desired outcome without anyone on the outside looking in being any the wiser.

The only thing I know for sure is that our Legacy Media has been emboldened over these last 3-4 years in pushing their agendas constantly and without any reservations. Whether or not they actually believe it's because they're "Morally Superior" to the opposition makes no matter when you've got a large portion of the country backing them and believing that they are on the right side of history.

We're all in trouble if we don't go back to a time where Journalism was more objective. This is a very dark path they're leading us down.

Flynn said he was guilty. Both of his lawyers said he was guilty. That is black and white. After the fact, Trump told the Attorney General not to prosecute because it would be bad for Trump's reelection. That is deep shades of gray. To blame Journalism for Flynn's confession and his lawyers' capitulation is pitch black. The journalists didn't sign Flynn's confession and have no say so in the process of drafting that confession.

Flynn perjured himself. It's right in the confession that if the confession he is signing is false, Flynn committed another perjury: "After consulting with my attorneys, I agree and stipulate to this Statement of the Offense, and declare under penalty of perjury that it is true and correct."

(It can't get more obvious that no matter what you want to believe Flynn did, Flynn is guilty of a crime. If he did do what is in the confession, he is guilty of lying to the FBI. If he didn't do it, he is guilty of perjury.)

What your argument is: Flynn is not guilty because not guilty people have been falsely convicted. What is so special about Flynn? Nothing other than Trump appointed him. You could rewrite your argument to "Nobody is guilty because not guilty people have been falsely convicted." And at that point hard reality becomes an imaginary gas or, maybe, reality doesn't exist, confessions with signatures in blue ink are only random, meaningless marks on paper, and absolute confusion reigns over America. But at least 6ix will vote for Trump and isn't that the only thing that is important?

Some people I guess believe the official Chinese state story of Tiananmen Square. They don’t want to look at the facts, they only blindly except what the state tells them. General Flynn was targeted. James Comey bragged about waltzing in there right after the inauguration so that he could catch them off guard as he lied about what the meeting was for. Didn’t mirandize anyone, denied them the right to a lawyer, and then the unredacted notes prove so much more corruption.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

Flynn didn't lie about his Russian connections because he had none. He had some conversations with the Russian ambassador, which (as incoming National Security Advisor) was not only his right, but his duty.

When the FBI questioned him, they not only did not inform he that he was the subject of an investigation, they also did not allow him to see the transcript that they already had on hand. (A transcript, btw, which shows nothing improper was discussed, and also reveals that he was ALREADY being surveilled.)

So they questioned him about something that he didn't remember perfectly, and he misspoke*. The handwritten notes by FBI agents clearly show they intended to entrap Flynn, and that is exactly how they did it.

He was pressured into pleading guilty because the FBI was financially pressuring his whole family, and because that's what his "defense team" told him to do. Like many innocent people faced with overwhelming and unjust prosecution, he pled out. Because the state is more powerful than most individuals, and can grind you into dust if it wants to.

*Have you ever been deposed about something that happened at some point in the past? I have. Being closely questioned about details that you didn't notice at the time, or have since forgotten? Unless you have an eidetic memory ... trust me, I don't ... it's amazing how much you can forget!

That's why, when people are called to the witness stand, they're allowed their notes or other memory aids that they may have created at the time.

I wasn't privy to Flynn's contacts, but the FBI certainly was. They have the transcripts, after all. And if there was anything damning in Flynn's conversations with Ambassador Kislyak, then the FBI wouldn't have had to make stuff up.

Yanno, I'll bet you dollars to donuts you don't even know what Flynn pled guilty to, or the financial pressure that the FBI put on Flynn's family, or anything about those handwritten notes that torpedoed the FIB's case, or even the lie that got this whole investigation going to begin with (Halpern).

So rather than argue with a liar, I'll just say that someone must be paying you to hold the DNC line.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I was reading an article about the Flynn case, and these descriptions had me literally laughing out loud: "apoplectic homunculus Jerrold Nadler" ... "the redoubtably mendacious Congressman Adam Schiff, whose own overloaded garbage barge of seditious perfidy was blown out of the water with one well-aimed torpedo by new Acting Director of National Intelligence, Richard Grenell".

And then there was this:

There was no crime.

They already had Flynn's call to the Russians , and it was harmless. There was absolutely no 'there' there.

Flynn probably even KNEW they had recorded his phone call, thus felt no reason to be concerned over the ' harmless chat ' which was instead a illegal interview.

Flynn's " lie " was at most a meaningless process crime which even Comey wasn't sure was a lie either, and it certainly wasn't relevant to any crime because there WAS none.

This entire scam was for one thing only - political optics.

Obama knew and that's not even up for debate either.

As we suspected, 3 1/2 years ago, this was NOTHING but a huge set up.

As we suspected, 3 1/2 years ago, this was NOTHING but a huge set up.

10x bigger than Watergate.

CBS News released an interview with Attorney General William Barr on the Flynn case. The clearly incredulous reporter, Catherine Herridge, asks Barr how he thinks history will remember his actions in this case.

“Well, history is written by the winners,” the attorney general responds. ”So it largely depends on who’s writing the history.” It’s the pithiest expression of the Trump-Barr governing philosophy that we’ve seen yet.

The force of Herridge’s question is the idea that, down the road, future Americans who believe in basic ideas about democracy and the rule of law will see Barr’s behavior as unacceptable and will judge him harshly. Barr’s response suggests he just doesn’t care: As long as his side wins the struggle for political power today, his allies will be in a position to tell people who was in the right. The very act of winning power makes its exercise legitimate.

The scariest thing about Barr’s response is that he actually has a point.

Liberals like to imagine that history will automatically vindicate them after Trump leaves office. Union partisans thought much the same after the Civil War, yet the successful insurgency against Reconstruction — and rise of neo-Confederate apartheid regimes in Southern states — constituted a kind of Confederate victory.

The now-notorious Dunning School of historians convinced millions of Americans that the racist Southerners were the real victims during Reconstruction. Monuments to the Confederacy cropped up across the South. Even today, mainstream politicians and media figures defend flying the rebel flag as a matter of “heritage, not hate.”

History does not automatically reward the morally righteous. Through political struggle, the people who seem like clear villains — even racist authoritarians — can end up wielding enough power to change the way they’re remembered in the eyes of many. Trump and Barr are counting on Trump apologists in the Republican Party having enough power to do the same for many years to come.

No idea why the war between the North and South were brought into this discussion, as we're not talking about the right to own slaves vs the right to see all men created equal.

The real issue here is that the Obama admin chose to intentionally target a private citizen - Donald J. Trump to discredit and then after the election, used the power of the federal govt to subvert his administration. Gen. Flynn opposed Obama on one primary issue, the influence of Muslims on U.S. policy and how to deal with a global jihad. In large part because of that, Obama was vehemently opposed to Flynn being a part of the Trump administration, so much so that he told Trump directly at their final WH meeting that Flynn was a bad person and not to be trusted.

What the FBI and the FISA court did was undeniably wrong. It's made far worse by the fact that Obama KNEW this was going on, so much so he was all but DIRECTING it.

There's the real crime here. Personal and political animus drove individuals to act in the most unethicial and outright ILLEGAL way, under a false pretense of a collusion story which had zero merit.

The Flynn case was all about political optics and the overt attempt to undo an election with the improper abuse of federal LE powers and a secret FISA court. If that doesn't scare the fuck out of you, then you're dead inside.

The Judge Who Convicted Michael Flynn Will Now Have His Say

Flynn pleaded guilty in a very generous deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller in December 2017, a deal under which—instead of being prosecuted for serious violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act—he was allowed to plead guilty to a single felony false statements charge under 18 U.S.C. § 1001. In reaching that plea deal, Flynn was represented by the well-resourced law firm of Covington & Burling.

So rather than argue with a liar, I'll just say that someone must be paying you to hold the DNC line.

I think his greatest crime (of the 2) was being on Turkey's payroll while he was our National Security Advisor. I mean, wow. Did you know about that one? Plus, whatever you think about the FBI, or whatever you're convinced/been told to think of them, it's still a crime to lie to the FBI, which he admitted to doing twice. You are doing double backflips to exonerate/excuse someone who has acted without regard or respect to the office he was given. Every American should be a bit disgusted by that. Or at least really disappointed and happy to seem him be made an example of. The US can't be just another one of your employers. Pretty basic.

It is exceptionally rare for the U.S. Department of Justice to move in court to dismiss a case in which a defendant has—ably assisted by first-class lawyers—entered into a plea agreement to spare himself prosecution on more serious felony charges. It is rarer still for the government to do so without acknowledging that it violated any law or that the defendant’s rights were somehow infringed. And it is still rarer yet for the government to take such a move without a single career prosecutor being willing to sign onto the brief seeking dismissal.

Yet this is what the government did today, May 7, in the case of Michael Flynn, the man who ever-so-briefly served as national security adviser for President Trump at the beginning of his administration.

The plea agreement was so generous to Flynn, in fact, that at the time, it appeared to be an indication that Mueller anticipated Flynn’s cooperation would be extremely valuable. Yet the government today argued in court, “based on an extensive review and careful consideration of the circumstances, that continued prosecution of this case would not serve the interests of justice.”

The Justice Department did not merely contend that Flynn should be allowed to withdraw his plea, as he has been seeking to do. It argued that the entire case should be dismissed with prejudice—meaning that the case should be dismissed in a fashion that would preclude its being refiled. “Continued prosecution of the charged crime,” the motion states, “does not serve a substantial federal interest.”

The government’s 20-page brief is not an honest document—perhaps the reason that it is signed only by Timothy Shea, the interim U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia—and not a single one of the career prosecutors who worked on the case. That may also be the reason why Brandon Van Grack, the prosecutor who has worked the case from the beginning, moved to withdraw from the case entirely just hours before the Justice Department filed its motion.

The brief’s account of the history of the Flynn case is not accurate, its account of the government’s own conduct equally flawed. And it all leads up to a conclusion so obviously wrong that one does not need to know anything about counterintelligence to see through it: that there is no reasonable basis even to interview a senior government official when that person has engaged over sanctions imposed against a foreign adversary government that interfered in an election—and who subsequently lied to the vice president of the United States about the substance of his conversation with an agent of that government. Based on this position, the Justice Department today took an even greater leap: that it is perfectly legal for the official, if interviewed under these circumstances, to lie through his teeth repeatedly to the FBI agents who show up to interview him.

These are quite literally the positions that the Justice Department under Attorney General William Barr took today in a U.S. federal court. Here’s the brief:

It's also rare that an FBI agent contacts anyone to keep a case open with zero evidence, interviews the incoming NSA, finds no lies, yet the person is still charged with lying.

The corrupt FBI put a Sword of Damocles over Flynn's head, then acted like it did him a favor for not charging him or treating him worse.

They financially ruined the guy and sink holed his long and respected career and reputation.

1. I can't speak to these neo-confederates. I also live in a ' confederate ' state but see things differently than they do. Very little about that time period or the outcome of the * 'War between the States ' is relevant to the 21st century issues I see that matter most on the political landscape.

2. Your arbitrary assigning of motives for those who are neo-Confederates and Trump supporters is nonsensical. The issue of slavery itself was far more complex than ' slavery bad / freedom good. The Founders of this country didn't invent the institution of slavery, it pre-existed in the colonies before they were even born. Short version of all this, it's far easier for us to look back and say what's right vs wrong than those who were living in it. ( From a practical side, how would society work when on Tuesday most black people were slaves, but on Wednesday, they were free and equal members of society ? )

I'm getting sidetracked, as are you. Yes, Texans are even apart from the rest of the South and the nation as many view themselves a country all on their own. They really REALLY buy into this state's rights idea.

Trump is a New Yorker, through and through. Funny how some Texans would sidle up w/ this big city capitalist and real estate developer, but these are the times we live in.

MOST importantly - Trump's version of 'history ' isn't fake. It's vastly different than you're used to hearing. but it's not fake. You likely believe Obama's admin was " scandal free ' as well, huh ? I got news for you, it never was. And it's about to get a whole lot shadier, whether you like it or not, and whether you accept it or not.

You’re going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.”

* There never was a CIVIL WAR in the USA. Russia had a civil war, where 1 side wanted the power to rule over the whole country. The South wanted to secede, which is vastly different. War between the States is accurate. and I know in the South it's referred to The War of Northern Aggression ', though technically the South started the attack on Ft. Sumter..

The Confederates claimed their honor was being besmirched. That their integrity was being questioned. That their noble traditions were ignoble. That their rights in the Constitution were being violated. That the Bible sanctified slavery. That they were helping, not harming the slaves. The Confederates were spinning out stories as fast as they could talk, before, during and after the Civil War, but the real story was all about them getting rich and not wanting to pay for the work slaves did. Who else acts that way? Trump lovers, who can spin a story as fast as any Confederate and the stories will be false, made up on the spot to justify Trump lovers being stingy, bitter, highly defective people who are untruthful, lazy, immoral men claiming to be something they aren't, believing they can lie their way out of their problems and bad behavior, exactly like Trump and Flynn. AURaptor, don't claim Trump lovers aren't; I have had 50 years of dealing with these cheaters and crooks who keep claiming they are neither when I know who they really are.

Again, your claims are utterly specious. These ' confederates ' exist. That's a fact. So do a long list of other undesirable assclowns who are every bit as racist and vile as these wanna-be Johnny Rebs. But they voted the other way before Trump and almost always will.

And yes, it may shock you to grasp the concept, but many from the South, with no love or desire for slavery, can still share the same feelings about honor, civility and traditions which have endured from before and since the War.

But this isn't about any of that. All this is about is you genuinely not liking a few slack jawed, self described ' confederates 'and holding them up as Trump's based.

For you, it's easy to hate EVERYONE who voted for Trump if you think of them as Bubba, Earl and Ashley. Sorry, but I got some news for ya.

Look at a map sometime. See the last election ? Trump won states pretty much everywhere, not just the Deep South. Lotta blue collar union workers in the NE and Mid West voted for Trump too, ya know.

And they'll vote for him again too.

Your tiny fraction of bumpkins are gonna vote, almost certainly, in each and every election. Always have too. Might be for some David Duke type of loser, might be for someone else. Just because they happen to choose Trump over Hillary or Biden doesn't make the rest of us like them.

When I dig to find the real person behind the mask a Trump lover wears, I find corruption. The first time was an accidental discovery -- a computer not properly erased from a Trump lover. I was surprised he was a tax cheat/pediphile/deacon in the church. I am no longer surprised by what I find because I no longer believe the stories Trump lovers tell about themselves. AURaptor, send me your real name and I will have a private investigator find out what rot and decay you are hiding behind your mask.

“I learned a lot from Richard Nixon”: Trump’s latest Fox & Friends interview went strange places

“Comey, who is a sick man,” Trump said, referring to former FBI Director James Comey. “He’s just a stupid guy. He’s dumb as a stick. And he’s a sick guy — there’s something wrong with him.”

Perhaps most bizarrely, at one point Trump offered that he “learned a lot from Richard Nixon”— including, apparently, how to get away with everything. “Of course there was one difference, one big difference: number one, he may have been guilty, and number two, he had tapes all over the place. I wasn’t guilty, I did nothing wrong, and there are no tapes. But I wish there were tapes in my case. But learned a lot from Richard Nixon, and you don’t do that.” Perhaps the idea is that if Comey would have in fact had a recording to back up a memo he wrote about a February 2017 discussion in which Trump asked him to go easy on Flynn, the Russia investigation might’ve turned out more like Watergate.

Ha. Ha. Ha. People who are highly defective are the ones claiming Democrats are liars about Flynn. The same people are defending Trump and Flynn. In Texas, Trump lovers are extraordinarily defective people and there is no scientific or psychological data pointing to those creatures being any better when they inhabit either the East Coast or the West Coast or the Midwest. (Nebraska is the exception. The state capital is Lincoln. They will feel a deep need to defend any Republican President because of Lincoln.)

“The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed—about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn,” Obama said. “And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic—not just institutional norms—but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk.” Obama went on to say that “as we’ve seen in other places” once governments start going down that route, “it can accelerate pretty quickly.”

The leaked conversation suggests Obama is getting ready to take a starring role in the presidential campaign which he says “is so important” because it won’t just be about beating Trump or the Republicans. “What we’re fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy—that has become a stronger impulse” not just in the United States but also around the world. “It’s part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty,” Obama said. “It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset—of ‘what’s in it for me’ and ‘to heck with everybody else’—when that mindset is operationalized in our government.”
