...so what the heck is it really about

...some conspiracy specualtion

1 Some cosmic weird event comes, an unknown event to the public but it is coming, a comet, a soalr flare, the poles and magma and magentic fields going crazy, an asteroid....NASA knows something comes but they wont freak everyone out but a branch of the government called the 'Space Force' will deal with it .... maybe even predicting super hurricane and floods and the USA wants to protect itself from natural planetary events

Normal logical explanation

2 Maybe its about Keeping the High ground, China, Russia and now India are testing weaponry in space, they have new subs, new planes, new missiles, the outer space treaty is dead and the USA wants to stay above others in the area of orbits and satellites, the USA also wants to claim whatever mineral or ores or treasures or research bases can be claimed and built in outer space before the Chinese or someone else get the high ground

3 Tinfoil headed pirate news theory, they found a UFO in the South Pole and remnants of civilization on Mars and suppressed it. the Dinosaur Lizard men are returning to Earth and Trump is getting read for StarWars part ii

4 ...Or....Its another big military industrial scam to shoot rockets, make HD films on the space station, take money from the US Tax payer?

I've been seeing recruiting ads for Space Force as part of the general Armed Services campaign.

Pretty sure I don't know what their mission is. Maybe like Team America: World Police.

Or SETI. Space debris mapping. Asteroid mapping/tracking.
