I HOPE that Biden* and the Democrats* succeed. But I completely expect them to fail.

You know what they say - the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. And the democrats have been selling citizens down the river for decades.

So when they fail - as I completely expect they will - I'll point it out to you, who seem to think that Biden* and the Democrats* will be the great keepers of all promises and champions of the little guy, honor, and integrity.

Hot again: 2020 sets yet another global temperature record

Earth’s rising fever hit or neared record hot temperature levels in 2020, global weather groups reported Thursday.

While NASA and a couple of other measurement groups said 2020 passed or essentially tied 2016 as the hottest year on record, more agencies, including the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, said last year came in a close second or third. The differences in rankings mostly turned on how scientists accounted for data gaps in the Arctic, which is warming faster than the rest of the globe.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

This is the agenda Democrats should pursue under Biden's leadership

Opinion by Bernie Sanders

The headlines dominating the news understandably deal with the outrageous behavior of President Donald Trump and the attempted coup he inspired at our nation's Capitol.
Yes, it was important for the House of Representatives to impeach Trump. Yes, the Senate must convict him. No president, now or in the future, can lead an insurrection against the United States government and get away with it.

But as enormously important as that is, we must not lose sight of the pain and anxiety of millions of working families all over this country, as they suffer through the worst public health and economic crises in the modern history of our country. In fact, many working families are facing more economic desperation today than any time since the Great Depression. As a result of the pandemic, tens of millions of our fellow citizens have lost their jobs and incomes. Hunger is at its highest level in decades, and 40 million could be on the brink of eviction when the federal moratorium expires at the end of January. While more than 24 million people in our country have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, tens of millions of Americans are uninsured or under-insured.
Amid so much economic suffering and despair, when many Americans have lost faith in their government -- and when millions are prepared to accept lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election -- it is imperative that Democrats pass a bold and aggressive economic agenda within the first 100 days of Joe Biden's presidency. Now is not the time to think small. It is the time to think big and to restore faith among working families -- Black, White, Latino, Asian American and Native American -- that in a democratic society, government can respond to their needs.

Failure to adequately respond to the economic desperation in America today will undermine the Biden administration and likely lead Democrats to lose their thin majorities in the US House of Representatives and US Senate in 2022. Democrats suffered significant loses in 1994, two years after President Bill Clinton's victory -- and, in 2010, two years after President Barack Obama's victory.
We must not repeat those mistakes.

The danger we face would not be in going too big or spending too much but in going too small and leaving the needs of the American people behind. If Republicans would like to work with us, we should welcome them. But their support is not necessary. In 2010, Sen. Mitch McConnell was willing to sabotage the economy to advantage Republicans, doing everything he could to make Obama a "one-term president."
We cannot let him play the same games again.

The Senate's 60-vote threshold to pass major legislation has become an excuse for inaction. But let's be clear: We have the tools to overcome these procedural hurdles. As incoming Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, I will use a process known as budget reconciliation that will allow us to pass comprehensive legislation with only 51 votes.

This is not a radical idea.

When the Republicans controlled the Senate during the George W. Bush and Trump presidencies, they used reconciliation to pass trillions of dollars in tax breaks for the wealthiest people and most profitable corporations. They also used reconciliation to try and repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017. Today, Democrats must use this same process to lift Americans out of poverty, increase wages and create good-paying jobs.

First, we must increase the direct payments passed by Congress in December from $600 to $2,000 for every working-class adult and their children. On this issue, Joe Biden, Donald Trump, incoming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, several Republicans in the House and the Senate and undoubtedly millions of struggling Americans -- who wanted more stimulus in December --would agree.
But given the enormous crises facing the country, that is not enough. Through reconciliation, we must pass a major Covid-relief package that expands emergency unemployment benefits to $600 a week, provides aid to state and local governments to prevent mass layoffs, enacts hazard pay for frontline workers, saves the US Postal Service, addresses the crisis of homelessness and ensures that no one in America goes hungry or is evicted.

During the crisis, we must provide emergency health care to all by requiring Medicare to pay the medical bills of the uninsured and under-insured. We must fully fund Covid-19 testing, tracing and vaccine distribution. At a time when our primary care health care system is faltering, and when millions have no medical home, we must also substantially increase funding for community health centers and the National Health Service Corps, which provides scholarships and forgive student debt of medical professionals who agree to work in underserved areas.

Through reconciliation, we must make sure that unemployment benefits during this crisis period are not taxable so that workers don't get hit with a huge tax bill they didn't expect on April 15.

Moreover, we need to create millions of good paying jobs by rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure -- our roads, bridges, sidewalks, schools, water systems and affordable housing. Further, as we lead the world in combating the existential threat of climate change, we can create millions more jobs by making massive investments in wind, solar, geothermal, electric vehicles, weatherization and energy storage.
We must guarantee at least 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave and end the international embarrassment of the United States as the only high-income nation that fails to provide paid maternity leave.
In order to address our dysfunctional early childhood education system, we must provide universal pre-K for every 3- and 4-year-old in the country and greatly expand childcare. And, if we are to have the best-educated workforce in the world, we need to make public colleges and universities tuition free and cancel all student debt for working-class Americans.

As we do all these things, we can use the reconciliation process to substantially lower the outrageous cost of prescription drugs and raise the minimum wage to $15. Not only would these provisions improve life for millions, they would save the federal government hundreds of billions.
In this extraordinarily difficult moment, poll after poll has shown that the American people want government to respond aggressively to address the crises they face. The job of Congress now is to listen to the American people, move our country boldly forward on a path to economic success and show voters that Democrats are prepared to do everything possible to improve their lives.
This is an unprecedented moment in American history. We must act in an unprecedented way.

Why Big Oil Isn’t Worried About Biden’s Executive Orders
https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Why-Big-Oil-Isnt-Worried-Ab
out-Bidens-Executive-Orders.html

He promised “no new fracking” ... Last week the administration also issued Secretarial Order No. 3395, which implemented a 60-day suspension of new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits for federal land and water. ... This week President Biden followed that action up with Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad. The biggest takeaway from this order was an indefinite “pause on new oil and natural gas leases on public lands” until a comprehensive review on the climate change impacts can be completed."

There's plenty of dissembling, hair-splitting, and deception on both sides.

The author starts out by talking about oil and gas drilling generically, but then laser-focuses on fracking.

But then Joe* has layers of good-sounding, well-publicized fluff, along with hidden and not-so-hidden realities that negate the PR.

Joe* can do zero about EXISTING leases in whatever form they take - whether it's conventional drilling or fracking, oil or gas. And considering there are thousands of existing, unexercised leases, not having new leases is moot. There are plenty of existing, unexercised leases for years to come, maybe even decades. So while Joe*'s campaign promises and executive orders sound promising, because they're focused on NEW leases, in reality, they're meaningless.

Then there's Joe*'s blunt statement, which clearly points to the real limitations of his campaign rhetoric:
Quote:

“Let me be clear, and I know this always comes up, we’re not going to ban fracking.”
And among the limitations on banning or even limiting fracking meaningfully, besides existing leases, is the fact that most drilling is on PRIVATE land. And Joe* can't touch them by Executive Order.

But even THEN, Joe* doesn't ban fracking on Federal land either, where he DOES have some power. He merely PAUSES it
Quote:

on new oil and natural gas leases on public lands” until a comprehensive review on the climate change impacts can be completed.

Joe* and oil and gas leases? A non-starter. Joe* and fracking? Joe* already wrote that off in terms of Executive Orders.

For fracking to be BANNED - everywhere - Congress would have to pass a law. Is Joe* going to propose it to Congress? Is he going to campaign for it? In other words, is Joe* the democrat* who's going to FINALLY address climate change? Well, he's already promised he's "not going to ban fracking".

Or then, is he merely Joe*, wearing his New Clothes™ all over town?

And when Biden* fails to keep his promises - or even promote them - I'll be happy to laugh at his skinny saggy ass parading all over town in his New Clothes™.

I don't care about embarrassment myself. I look at what politicians DO.

For example, your country is EXTREMELY stingy when it comes to letting people in. And yet, you want the US be the opposite of your country and open our doors to everyone and anyone, even people who entered illegally. Why the double standard? Why should the US not control the number and type of people allowed in, like your country does? That's one area where I agree with Trump.

I look at the US record on global warming. And frankly I see literally NO difference between democrats* and republicans in terms of RESULTS - ie CO2 and other global warming gas emissions. Sure, the democrats* are better at empty gestures, for example Obama signing onto the Global Climate Accord. But it's unenforceable until it's ratified by 2/3 of our Senate, and Obama never put it up for a vote or campaigned to change the politics about it. And Biden* won't either. And Biden*'s executive actions on, say, oil and gas drilling are as toothless as they are pointless, since they're too small and incomplete to change anything and will disappear with the next president, as all Executive Orders do. They're just more meaningless blather.

Then I look at the threat of nuclear war. The US's biggest adversary is Russia, and BOTH countries are actively developing new nuclear weapons and systems. That won't change any time soon. But what WILL change is how the US relates to Russia. The democrats are bound and determined to 'punish' Russia at all turns to try to cripple it economically, and at the very least to antagonize it continuously. Trump was a deeply welcome relief in that dynamic. Why do YOU want the US and Russia to be in a perpetual state of Cold War II, Magon's? Do YOU feel safer from nuclear threat with that going on?

Then I look at Clinton* and the democrats*- and how they set the stage to unleash the great meltdown, failed to punish the wrongdoers, failed to right the legal wrongs they created, and sold US manufacturing to China. At I see at least Trump TRIED to make an issue of it, by increasing tariffs.

So, I don't look at rhetoric, or gestures, or your embarrassment, as being at all important. I look at results. Which is why I post: And if democrats* don't do any different, how are they any better?

Maybe you can answer that. If democrats don't get results and they're wrong on Russia, wrong on immigration, wrong on trade, craven and inactive on global warming, and wrong on the constant presence of US troops around the globe, why do you prefer them?

Coming right out the gates with all the hits.

Pelosi's going to put funding for American baby killing in the Covid package. But Biden* will welcome illegals with open arms by the millions and raise their kids for them.

Is it any wonder why Democrats can't maintain any power for any period of time? They're so bad at their job nobody has to manufacture a pandemic with China to get them booted out.

Republicans Scramble for a Strategy to Oppose the COVID Relief Bill

How do you say no to something most people want?

Wednesday, Feb 24, 2021 5:40 PM

Congressional Republicans returned to Washington this week with a sense of alarm about a looming legislative predicament: Democrats' $1.9 trillion relief package, which Republicans chose not to collaborate with, is, if anything, only gaining popularity as it hurtles toward the finish line.

The legislation—which would, among other things, extend unemployment benefits through the summer, offer generous aid to state and local governments, provide more money for vaccine distribution, increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, and send a round of $1,400 direct payments to most Americans—has consistently polled at wildly enthusiastic levels. A Politico/Morning Consult survey released Wednesday morning pinned support for the package at 76 percent, including 60 percent support among Republicans. A CBS/YouGov survey earlier this month showed 83 percent overall support. One of the worst polls for Democrats this month came from Quinnipiac University—and it still showed 68 percent support, including 37 percent of Republicans.

With the House expected to pass the bill on Friday and the Senate to follow in the coming weeks, Republicans have their work cut out for them if they want to change the public’s mind.

People love free shit.

It's all the stuff that isn't about unemployment and stimulus payments in there that people don't want to see passed. It's through giving away a bunch of free money that politicians get all that shit nobody wants passed in there too.

They really should have left that $15 minimum wage out of there.

Biden Rescinds Trump Order Banning Chinese Involvement in the U.S. Power Grid
By IER

February 4, 2021

In President Biden’s executive order revoking the international permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, several climate and energy-focused executive orders by the Trump administration were also revoked. It suspended for 90 days Trump’s “Executive Order 13920 of May 1, 2020 (Securing the United States Bulk-Power System). The Trump order sought to ban, replace, and set new criteria on bulk-power system electric equipment coming from a foreign country or national that poses a national security threat. According to Biden’s executive order, the fate of the executive order and America’s bulk power system will be determined jointly by Biden’s Secretary of Energy and his Director of the Office of Management and Budget. It is up to these 2 political appointees to recommend whether a replacement order should be issued.

Trump’s Order

Trump’s order “prohibited any acquisition, importation, transfer, or installation of bulk power system electric equipment by any person or with respect to any property to which a foreign country or a national thereof has any interest, that poses an undue risk to the bulk power system, the security or resiliency of U.S. critical infrastructure or the U.S. economy, or U.S. national security or the security and safety of U.S. persons.” The Department of Energy was tasked with identifying existing bulk power system electric equipment that violated the order and “develop recommendations to identify, isolate, monitor, or replace this equipment as appropriate.”

Issued on December 17, 2020, Trump’s Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette issued a “prohibition order designed to reduce the risks that entities associated with the People’s Republic of China pose to the Nation’s Bulk Power System” to be effective on January 16, 2021. “The order prohibits utilities that supply critical defense facilities (CDF) from procuring from the People’s Republic of China, specific bulk power electric equipment that poses an undue risk to the bulk power system, the security or resilience of critical infrastructure, the economy, national security, or safety and security of Americans.”

ABOUT THAT CARAVAN ...

Quote:

The Biden administration has told the Department of Homeland Security not to speak freely about the growing border crisis, according to Breitbart, which spoke with a "senior-level law enforcement source" within DHS who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"The situation with media relations now is night and day compared to the last administration," said the official. "We have been advised not to speak on immigration issues at the border and to rely on DHS’s Office of Public Affairs and the White House Press Office to handle messaging."

The verbal order applies to senior law enforcement leaders within DHS and has no formal expiration date. It comes as the administration is struggling to manage the growing crisis caused by changes in border security and immigration policies leading to a spike in illegal crossings at the border.

As local communities along the border continue to grapple with the release of migrants into their communities, the administration is facing criticism even amongst their own ranks, Breitbart reported.

The report comes after senior members of the Biden administration - DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Susan Rice - visited several cities in Texas to observe the border crisis first hand. Members of the press were not allowed to accompany the officials' visit to Border Patrol stations and a Health and Human Services detention facility for unaccompanied minors.

According to a source familiar with the DHS media restrictions, the prohibition is designed "to prevent the imagery of overcrowded facilities from circulating."

Meanwhile, a viral video tweeted on Sunday by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) reveals: "The tip of the iceberg near Yuma, AZ as immigrants begin to flood into the US responding to magenta>@JoeBiden ’s open border, catch and release policy."

Meanwhile, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office broke up yet another human trafficking operation, where they found 18 migrants packed into a smuggling stash house - arresting the migrants and transporting them to the Yuma Station for processing, according to Breitbarti.

In addition to forgetting what the Pentagon is called, and forgetting his own Scy Defense's name, Biden* is letting Kamala Harris talk to other world leaders instead of him

Quote:

Monday, the Washington Post noted that Vice President Kamala Harris is taking an "unusually large role" in shaping Biden's foreign policy - having spoken with six world leaders independently of Biden, and was a "vocal participant in deliberations over how to respond to Iran-backed militias’ attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq, as well as whether to sanction Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi," according to the White House.

Of course, both Biden and Harris did refer to the "Harris administration" on more than one occasion during the 2020 election.

'Weekend At Biden's?' Handlers Shut Down Yet Another Q&A After Public Appearance

by Tyler Durden
Tuesday, Mar 09, 2021 - 15:28

For the third time in as many days (the previous two detailed here), President Biden's handlers abruptly panicked at the prospect of him answering a question from the press.

Today's debacle takes place in a DC hardware store as double-mask-wearing Biden stares blankly at the store owner during his polite introduction, then becomes distracted by people on an upper level of the store.

As the owner tries to address Biden again, Biden’s handlers suddenly become agitated and one is repeatedly heard saying, “come on press, let’s go, we’re gonna move out.” “Let’s go you guys, come on let’s go,” she repeats herself as one of the reporters tries to ask Biden about “the crisis at the border.”

Biden’s handlers aggressively prevent the press from asking POTUS any questions after his brief remarks at a D.C. hardware store pic.twitter.com/kTXFIe9ERM
— Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) March 9, 2021

What are the handlers so afraid of?

Biden's gaffes - or put more gently 'senior moments' are mounting and the world is starting to notice.

It has been 48 days since President Biden took office and he has yet to hold a formal press conference, and as Sara Carter reports, even the most liberal White House partisan reporters are growing restless.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last week that Biden will hold a press conference “before the end of the month,” but a Washington Post op-ed is calling for Biden to hold a press conference as soon as possible.

“Last month would have been better, and this week would be better than next,” the WaPo editorial board wrote on Sunday.

“Avoiding news conferences must not become a regular habit for Mr. Biden,” the editorial board warned. “He is the president, and Americans have every right to expect that he will regularly submit himself to substantial questioning.”

Each of Biden’s 15 most recent predecessors – including former President Donald Trump – held a full news conference within their first 33 days in office.

.@Kevinliptakcnn notes that an analysis of the past 100 years shows President Biden’s 15 most recent predecessors all held a formal solo press conference within 33 days of taking office. Biden has not and it’s day 42.
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) March 3, 2021

Biden’s exchange of questions from reporters at the end of an event are no substitute for a formal press conference, WaPo media critic Erik Wemple said.

“These often perfunctory exchanges are no substitute for formal, solo news conferences at which reporters can ask follow-up questions,” Wemple said.

“Answers are supposed to be more than a couple of words long, and the president’s thoughts on a wide range of issues can be mined.”

We couldn't help but think of this...

If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny!

And it's not just "fair right conspiracy sites" that are questioning President Biden's health.

A new poll conducted by Rasmussen Report found that 50 percent of Americans question President Joe Biden's physical and mental fitness.

Maybe the GOP should start giving Biden* the same treatment that Trump got.

Quote:

Nancy Pelosi unveils 25th Amendment bill that seeks to strip presidential powers..

Too bad that never went anywhere. It would be hi-larious to see Biden* hoist on the DNC's petard.

Quote:

When asked "[how] confident are you that Joe Biden is physically and mentally up to the job of being President of the United States?" 50 percent said they were "not confident" while 48 percent said they were "confident" or "very confident."

According to Rasmussen, Biden's unwillingness to host a press conference has helped fuel concerns about his fitness for office, with many believing that he is hiding from the press.

Ya think?
