If you're wondering why, it's because there wasn't.

You are confused about how law works. Here is an example you ought to be familiar with from TV entertainment or TV News: the police do NOT hold a trial, or even ask a judge's permission, before arresting a murderer. If an ordinary person witnessed a murder, they would know it was murder before a trial. If 6ix witnessed a murder, or sedition, I doubt 6ix would know it, but about 12,600,000 witnesses have gone on record that they saw Trump commit sedition:

Trump's cabinet is talking about using the 25th Amendment to boot Trump out, because he committed sedition, and replace him with Pence. I doubt it happens because there is only 2 more weeks of Trump.

America will continue malfunctioning for longer than four years unless either the Constitution is rewritten in a way that prevents deadlock/stalemate or else a single political party gets around 67% of the seats in Congress plus the White House.
