Biden, who is due to speak in Wilmington, Del., today, will outline a proposal that will include more direct payments to American families and significant state and local funding.

Biden’s proposal is a long way from becoming law, as the Democrats can’t afford to lose a single vote in the U.S. Senate. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin has already expressed opposition to increasing stimulus checks to a total of $2,000 from the $600 that has already been passed, though Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a Republican, said he is in favor of such a move.

Earlier this month, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, one of the most conservative Democrats in Congress, appeared to have taken an unequivocal stance against new $2,000 stimulus checks.

Since then, Manchin has shifted rather markedly. He was getting pounded at home by a brutal radio ad. “Joe Manchin thinks he knows better than both our president and the Democrats,” says the ad. “I guess Joe just don’t know what it’s been like to live through the pandemic. We should call his office and let him know.”

Now, with an evenly divided Senate, Democrats like Manchin and Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema are uniquely positioned to hold leverage over their party and block desperately needed relief. House Democrats also have little room for error in steering the nation out of a crisis, given their razor-thin margin. No Excuses PAC intends to push back against any Democratic lawmakers who try to hamper ambitious policy with similar rapid-response ad campaigns in the future, Trent told The Intercept.

“The only way we won’t do this is if Democrats just push through everything that needs to be done, keep all their promises, and do what’s right for the people who just gave them the House, the Senate, the White House,” Trent said. “But my guess is — not to be a jaded, cynical bastard — my guess is they’re going to need a little bit of encouragement, a little bit of cajoling from time to time.”

Who know? He might be afraid of how many Democrats go to prison if they actually pay out those $1,400 bribes for votes. It wasn't illegal to promise it, but it would be if they paid them.

I'd either cut it to $1,000 or just make it a whole new deal and give everybody $5,000. It would be foolish to actually pay out $1,400 that was promised if you voted Democrat in Georgia since it might very well be the first time in American history that somebody actually put a specific price tag on how much your vote was going to net you.

If you think $1,400 is a bribe for votes, what did you think was the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017? I'm pretty sure from talking to people who benefited the most that it was a bribe in exchange for contributions to GOP politicians' reelection committees.

Democrats risk throwing away a Senate Georgia race in two years if they go back on their promise to deliver direct aid after campaigning on the issue, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., said on Thursday afternoon.

The Democratic closing argument in the pivotal Georgia Senate runoffs, which elected Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, was that they would approve $2,000 of direct aid blocked by Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., if they took control of the Senate. But Democrats are now floating the idea that millions of people promised those checks should not actually get them, arguing that the relief should be more narrowly targeted to those who earned less than $50,000 on their latest tax returns. President Joe Biden has since confirmed that he’s open to the move.

“We need to target that money so folks making $300,000 don’t get any windfall,” Biden said Friday. “But if you’re a family that’s a two-wage earner, each of the parents — one making 30 grand, one making 40 or 50 — maybe that’s a little more than well, yeah, they need the money, and they’re going to get it. And here’s what I won’t do. I’m not cutting the size of the checks. They’re going to be $1,400 period.”

Biden “floated this trial balloon about changing the targeted audience for the direct payments,” Merkley said in an interview for The Intercept’s podcast Deconstructed. “I would advise him, if he were to ask me, that is not the place to compromise, that if you want to see us lose a Senate race in Georgia in two years, then modify the promise made — break the promise made during the Georgia runoff.”

The point being that there's never been an actual dollar amount attached to buying votes before. It's unprecedented.

Whatever they do, they better not make it $1,400 exactly. I'd advise them to steer far clear from that number. Either just make it $2,000 like has been floated around, or reduce the number.

And yeah, they're going to lose the senate in 2022 likely regardless of what they do here, but if you cut out a bunch of wealthy white folk who voted Democrat by stiffing them on the stimulus payments you promised to pay them for their vote, they're probably not going to forget that.

If tens of millions who got $600 from Trump get stiffed by Biden on the remainder — while watching millions of others get their checks — the damage could be severe enough to cost Democrats the Senate. Democrats control only 50 Senate seats, meaning they can’t afford to lose any if they want to retain control of the chamber. Out of nearly 4.5 million votes cast in the Georgia runoff, Warnock won by just 93,272. He will be running for Senate, again, in 2022.

Okay? So what? Does Schumer realize that it usually takes a month or two for the states to finally get the direction from the DOL on how to distribute the funds?

Being informed that there is no way the $15 minimum wage is going to make it through the Senate in new Covid relief bill, being struck down by the Byrd rule with absolute certainty, House Democrats still leave it in.

There will new be zero chance that any new bill is passed before current unemployment benefits end.

Hmmmmm.... Maybe if they weren't so focused on something else that wasn't important for the last 5 weeks, 20 million unemployed Americans wouldn't be worrying so much right now.

Over the objections of every Republican, Democrats could ram $15/hour into the bill, but they'd have to listen to accusations from Republicans and FOX News of being worse than Hitler and all his Nazis: The language is currently included in the version the House plans to take up on Friday, but the parliamentary ruling means it will need to be stripped in the Senate or Democrats would have to disregard MacDonough's advice. White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain told MSNBC on Wednesday night that Democrats were not planning to take that step, however.

I'm on board with doing something about the minimum wage. $7.25 an hour isn't even worth working for with how much everything costs today. Especially considering that a large portion of people doing those jobs these days are adults when only 20 years ago it was mostly kids doing it for some pocket money to go spend at the mall if they weren't saving it for college.

They should have tied minimum wage to inflation decades ago.

But doubling the minimum wage in such a short time is only going to destroy what little is left of small businesses in this country, most of which are already hanging on by a thread during the Democrat Plandemic.

I don't know what the answer is, but trying to play games and shove something like this in a budget spending bill isn't it. It's probably for the best that they don't try to push it through. Every time Democrats pull shit like this they only open the doors for Republicans to do more bad shit in the future and use the actions of Democrats as precedent.

If Congress indexes the minimum wage to match inflation, why not also index military minimum wage? Once upon a time, somebody named Trump said that soldiers volunteered, therefore their problems are not his problem because they should have known what they were going to be paid before they signed up. Here are reasons why Democrats ought to index military pay, despite the strong objections of Republicans:

According to the Legacy Media, it's looking less and less likely that Congress will be able to pass the bill before the March 14th "deadline" they say will magically continue unemployment benefits to nearly 20 million people, when all evidence from the last year shows that as a lie anyhow.

Even if passed by March 14th, which is not looking likely, it would take weeks for the DOL to give instructions to the states on how to distribute the funds. There should be no doubt that these instructions are streamlined now and that changes necessary from the $100 boost of federal funds per week should be much simpler since this is the third Rodeo in a year. But it doesn't just happen, literally, overnight.

Payments can be made retroactive to the week ending March 20th, but there's no way there won't be a lapse in payments unless that bill was passed at the end of February.

Too bad for 20 million people and their families that the Democrats felt they had something more important to deal with.

How'd that turn out again, BTW?

Libtards of Congress are jamming through their Democrap Shithole Bailout Plan, creatively named some covid Relief or somesuch.

Of it's $1.9 Trillion price tag, only $1.5 trillion is Democrap Pork.

It is over 600 pages, of which none have been allowed to be read by those who will vote on it, until now when it is being read aloud by the Clerks of Congress, thanks to Sen Ron Johnson of WI.

Their last supposed covid relief bill still has $1 Trillion unspent, because the EMERGENCY Legislation has earmarked the Democrap Shithole Bailouts to be paid in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The minimum wage increase was officially knocked down for the current bill about an hour ago.

Unemployment benefits were changed as well. Instead of a $100 increase lasting until August, it's going to remain at $300 additional per week until September.

Also, it looks as though the first $10,000 or so will be tax exempt for households making under $150,000. However, it appears that this will pertain to 2021 taxes; pay 2022 and not for last years taxes that are due to be filed next month.

They don't go into much detail about it, but it should be assumed that the $10k will be removed from your taxable income at some point after your standard deduction, effectively making income tax on unemployment nil unless somebody made a decent amount of earned income in 2021 as well or lived in a state that gives an obscene amount of unemployment even without the additional federal payout.

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin could have used his leverage to give West Virginia anything it wanted. Instead, after he forced a tense showdown, his big wins will be ensuring that some people who got unemployment checks under Trump will not get them under Biden and chopping off a month of benefits for the unemployed.

For all of these last-minute adjustments, and Republicans crowing about how Democrats had made a grave miscalculation in going on their own, Democrats are still poised to pass a rare popular bill that will shower money on people. Which makes it bizarre that one Democrat, Joe Manchin, was so insistent on poking around the edges to see where he can put a damper.

If the cnet article I'll post below is to be believed, the tax breaks are on any unemployment received in 2020; pay 2021 and not for any unemployment received in 2021 (it would be assumed that a separate bill would need to be passed for unemployment tax relief next tax season).

https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/stimulus-bill-unemployment-benef
its-how-a-new-tax-break-could-save-you-money
/

What this means for anybody who got unemployment last year (if the bill as it is currently written is passed) is that you would not pay the 10% rate on any unemployment up to $10,200, but after your standard deduction of $12,400 (filing single) or $24,800 (married; filing jointly).

Many Americans have already filed taxes. Unless there is some legislation and direction given to the IRS to automatically figure this out and send out an additional check to make up the difference (which this article doesn't mention), it will be incumbent upon the tax filer who was on unemployment to file a separate 1040-X form to get the additional tax return.

(I was going to post a link to the 1040-X form, but the article did mention that a separate form may be made available specifically for this purpose).

To avoid confusion, I won't post the 1040-X now and I'll update this thread with the correct form when I know more.

This may or may not be advertised very much, and may have very little instruction as to how you must go about it if it does and it's not made an automatic process. If somebody feels they can benefit from this and has any questions, feel free to ask.

The bill was passed with the aforementioned tax break for unemployment benefits in 2020.

If your household made less than $150,000 and received any unemployment benefits and already filed your taxes, you will have more coming back to you than what you filed for and/or already got.

If given the option again at any point this year, I would highly recommend against not having taxes withdrawn from any unemployment this year, as the bill did not include 2021 unemployment payouts in the tax break (and also because states themselves are under no obligation to make any waivers for unemployment payouts either). I have a feeling that the FED probably will give a break for next year's taxes for unemployment this year at some point, but just in case it's better to just have them taken out if you have no idea how to budget your money once it hits your bank account.

As of now, the only way to get the additional refund if you've already filed will be to file a 1040-X, but I have a feeling they're going to make a change on that for this specific case. I doubt very much that they'll make the process automatic. I'll post whatever the remedy is here when I know more.

More than 90% was Libtard Democrap Pork.

Less than 1% was for covid vaccinations and distribution.

But at least they got $128 B for K-12 Public Schools - none of it for 2020 or 2021. Only for 2022-2028, because, yanno, this is an EMERGENCY RESCUE!!

GOP Is Outraged That Black Farmers Will Get 12.5% of Farm Assistance Funds

How much money are Black farmers getting from the COVID relief bill? Here's the Washington Post:

Of the $10.4 billion in the American Rescue Plan that will support agriculture, approximately half would go to disadvantaged farmers, according to estimates from the Farm Bureau, an industry organization. About a quarter of disadvantaged farmers are Black. The money would provide debt relief as well as grants, training, education and other forms of assistance aimed at acquiring land.

So that's one quarter of one half, or 12.5% of the entire amount. Lindsey Graham calls it "reparations," while Sean Hannity uses it as an excuse to whip up the usual Fox News hysteria about white people getting screwed yet again.

You'd think even these two might be a little embarrassed about what they're doing, but they aren't. To them, fanning the flames of racism is just a smart political move. This is what we get from Republicans when we try to do even the smallest thing to concretely help Black people and other minorities.

That 1.9 Trillion bill is just paying off the debts they owe for buying votes from last election.

They're going to have t pass another 2 Trillion bill right before the election in 2022 if they want to win it.

2 Trillion could have easily lasted for two years, but 90% of the last bill went to anything but Covid relief.
