We're actually close on a number of things (honest, not a trap):

- I thought gas prices being determined by a president had been pretty well debunked. Not to mention the pandemic thing that came late in Trump's term. It's just reasonable to include that.

- I have to dig up all the presents Trump gave Putin, including trying cut off Ukraine's 'nads so this invasion could go better. There are lot more. One thing Biden hasn't done is call Putin a genius.

- I give the ISIS thing to the US army if anyone. Your two points - prices and inflation - I am an expert on because I set prices. When the opportunity arises, I jerk my prices as high as fools will pay. No President can stop me. Not Trump. Not Biden. The reason prices aren't set at infinity is that fools only have a limited amount of money. Setting too high a price means I make less money than if I left prices to rise slowly. But on special occasions I can raise prices fast, just for example, when Trump was handing out free money in 2020 to help his reelection. Oil companies are enjoying their biggest windfalls in more than a decade as crude prices hit levels not seen in more than 13 years. Big Oil’s first priority is to maximize profits.

It’s also their second priority, third priority, and on and on.

The plan will require oil companies that produce or import at least 300,000 barrels of oil per day to pay a per-barrel tax equal to 50% of the difference between the current price of a barrel and the average price from the years 2015 to 2019, a period in which energy companies were recording large profits, according to a statement from Whitehouse’s office. Smaller oil companies will be exempt from the quarterly tax, so that large companies like Exxon Mobil Corp. and Chevron Corp., cannot raise prices without the threat of losing market share, according to the statement.

The revenue raised from the tax would be sent to individuals quarterly. The payments would phase out for individuals earning more than $75,000 or couples earning $150,000. Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, estimates that single filers would receive approximately $240 a year, and joint filers would get about $360.

The proposal is being made as Democrats consider ways to revive and remake President Joe Biden’s economic agenda to satisfy Senator Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat. Manchin has said he could support a more targeted bill that would help curb inflation and shrink the deficit, including by raising some taxes.

The excess-profits levy is likely to be opposed by Republicans, many of whom have pledged to vote against all new taxes. That means the proposal faces an uphill battle if Democrats don’t include it in their partisan tax bill.

The windfall-profits levy echoes similar themes as other tax proposals that Democrats in Congress have floated. Lawmakers have developed plans for minimum corporate levies, and stricter offshore tax regimes as a way of targeting specific companies and industries that they don’t believe pay enough in federal taxes. Since I'm done crying over spilled milk and I'm never going to get the 15 years I wasted being a fool, the 5 that I lost completely by being a blackout drunk, or my teeth, I put zero value on those teeth. My paid for operation (while done without gas), and my paid for dentures are serving me well. I hardly even notice they're gone.

I put a huge negative on having a family. What an absolute drain.

Your metrics for success don't jibe at all with mine. That's fine. We're all entitled to our own opinions.

My mom once asked me "Don't you want any luxuries in life?".

I simply told her that my greatest luxury in life is coming and going as I please and not answering to everyone. I had to watch both her and my dad live sad, miserable lives full of long hours driving to and from work and plenty of overtime, and neither of them ever getting ahead. Both things that they wouldn't have had to do had they not been divorced with 3 children.

I felt that way and told her that when I was drinking myself into an early grave. Now that I'm 5 years, 3 months and at least 15 days sober and have come out of the other side of that addiction alive, it is more true than it ever was..

I buy what I need. I've got plenty of time in a day. Every day. I tread on no one and owe nobody. I get to plant obs on people whenever they need a favor.

I live a copacetic life.
