Trump's appointed special counsel has another humiliating day in court as judge tosses some charges

This hasn't been a good week for Donald Trump-appointed special counsel John Durham as he attempts to go after his only real prosecutions around the Russia probe. Trump had appointed Durham to "investigate the investigators," claiming that former special counsel Robert Mueller was corrupt in his handling of the Russia investigation.

While that hasn't worked out, Durham has been relegated to search for lower-level crimes he can prosecute for like lying to the FBI. Such is the case with this week's trial for longtime confidential informant for the FBI, Igor Danchenko.

On Wednesday, Durham opened his case by calling senior FBI intelligence analyst Brian Auten, who oversaw the early part of the Russia probe. Over the course of the two-day testimony, Auten testified that there was information that Danchenko didn't share with the FBI that could have aided their case.

The former Donald Trump attorney was ordered to pay nearly $133,000 after he failed to turn over discovery documents in the case.

Rudy Giuliani has lost a civil lawsuit brought by two Georgia election workers after he failed to turn over discovery documents in the case, a federal judge ruled Wednesday.

Judge Beryl Howell issued a default judgment ordering the former Donald Trump attorney to pay nearly $133,000 in sanctions. In a 57-page opinion, Howell admonished Giuliani’s failure to turn over the documents as “willful discovery misconduct.”

World reacts to Donald Trump throwing son Eric ‘under the bus’

Former American president Donald Trump, according to his former longtime fixer Michael Cohen, sent his son Eric a brutal message during testimony in a newly released deposition.

Trump’s attorneys released the transcript last week from a deposition in April as part of New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit into the former president’s business deals.

The $250 million lawsuit claims the Trump Organization, under the leadership of Trump and his adult children, misrepresented business assets, including Trump golf course properties, to obtain favorable loans.

In the deposition, according to Newsweek, Trump claimed to be less involved in the business in recent years. Trump set up a blind trust to manage his companies after winning the 2016 presidential election.

The top role went to his son Eric, according to Trump.

“My son Eric is much more involved with it than I am. I’ve been doing other things. And I guess you could say on something major, final decisions, whatever. But I’ve been much less involved in it than — over the last five years, five or six years than ever before,” Trump said.

According to Cohen, the testimony of Trump was akin to throwing his oldest son “under the bus.”

“I keep repeating myself over and over and over,” Cohen wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Donald doesn’t care about any one of you … This includes throwing his own kids under the bus.”

Eric and Donald Trump, like all Americans, are presumed innocent until proven guilty. But that didn’t stop the world from reacting to the harsh message:

Former Trump adviser Navarro convicted of contempt of Congress

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro was found guilty on Thursday of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House of Representatives committee that investigated the 2021 attack on the Capitol.

A 12-member jury convicted Navarro on two counts of contempt after he refused to testify or turn over documents to the Democratic-led House panel that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 riot by Trump supporters and broader attempts by Trump, a Republican, to reverse his 2020 election defeat.
