In the coming weeks and months, we will no doubt hear a string of pious excuses from various progressive politicians, explaining why it was a series of unfortunate events — not their own ruinous policies — that contributed to this unprecedented devastation.

But voters, as the most recent presidential election proved beyond doubt, no longer care.

Malibu loses a third of its eastern edge to fire
Malibu has lost about a third of its eastern edge to the #Palisades fire, according the city's mayor.
"The beautiful homes that were along the area... they're gone. For the most part, they're gone," Doug Stewart said at a community meeting earlier. Mr Stewart also said a number of homes along #PacificCoast Highway and the community of #BigRock are gone, and more homes from Big Rock to Carbon Mesa Road are "severely damaged or gone".
The Palisades fire is the most destructive fire in #LosAngeles history and has wreaked havoc in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu, claiming more than 5,000 structures, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
