It was a pretty soggy Thursday but a very dry Friday. Suppose to be a little more rain tomorrow. Have to see then maybe dry out again for Canada Day on Monday.

Trenched out the back of my garage today. Pretty damn hot day to be doing it, but I don't argue when my brain starts telling my body to get back to work.

At least it rained the day before. Its really perfect timing doing it right now. The ground is wet enough to make digging fairly simple, but it's not so wet that you can't get the mud off the roots as it was when I was doing the fence.

We'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow. Much cooler outside for sure. Would love to get the side of the garage done.

Don't imagine I'll be doing much digging today. I'm going to mow the lawn though. Will be the first time doing that when it's not in the high 80s or mid 90s for a while, so that's nice.

Today was the last (sixth) morning for yardwork. Even tho I can only do about 1 1/2 hours each morning, I need a break! My knees and back are feeling the work.

So I start on indoor work, where I can sit down

This coming week, there are doctor's appts literally every day except July 4, but since there are TWO appointments on July 3, I guess that makes up for the holiday.

We start tomorrow with dog's dental surgery, and I had quite a time finding a vet that does dental X-rays and dental surgery that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

OK! On with indoor projects!

Well... I didn't trench anything out yesterday...

So I missed both the cool days to do that work. Guess I'll do it in the heat then.

I'd like to get the side of the garage down to the point of the driveway where I'm going to make the decision on how I want to carry that runoff down to the curb. It would be impossible for me to explain the situation there without pictures, but there's a low point on the driveway close to the overhead door on that side that pools up water when it's raining really hard. I'm hoping to be able to alleviate that in some way on that side without having to dig to put corrugated pipe underground.

The plan is to promote water leaving that area instead of staying put until the sun dries it. I think after I do what I'm doing it could possibly end up putting more water in that spot during the rain storm, but once the rain stops and things are moving around my hope is that it allows the water to drain away from there quickly instead of just sitting there for a day after a rainstorm. I haven't noticed any further shifting of my garage slab after I used Watertite on the cracks in the floor and outside on the slabs about 4 years ago, but I want to keep it that way.

Unlike the other side of the driveway/garage that meets up with the Bermuda Triangle where I intend to do a lot of drainage work, I'm hoping this is not necessary at all on the other side. If it weren't for that low spot in the driveway it wouldn't be for sure. The only water I'm trying to bring away on this side is the stuff that doesn't get caught by the gutters on one side of the garage and everything that falls on the driveway about 6 feet in front of the garage before it breaks down to the street. I don't imagine it's going to need too much persuasion like that mess on the other side is going to.

High is only 85 today, so not too bad. It's really cloudy out now too, so that would be nice if it stays that way until I'm finished. Haven't been outside yet, but I imagine it is probably really humid just from how everything looks out there.

Stay hydrated.

And keep up with your salt!

I had a reasonable day temperature -wise yesterday, but that was my day to take puppy to the vet for her exam and X-ray. And it turns out her mouth is in far worse shape than we all thought, so now I'm getting an estimate on having work done.
Sigh.

Today was a lot of silly things: sending x- ray report to another vet, coming up with a menu and grocery list for Thursday, watering the potted plants and seedlings, returning some gloves that are just a teensy bit long in the fingers, and sweats that are now styled differently that I don't like (the hazard of buying online) as well as walking the dog, dishes, fixing dinner, taking dear daughter out to buy fireworks (it's her 4th of July fun) etc. Tomorrow, still reasonable weather but ... two Dr appts. Thu will still be 85, so can do some outdoor work. Think I'm gonna fix a hose and cut up/bin up the passiflora vine and small cherry tree that we're cut down.

Yeah. Salt too.

Didn't quite finish the side of the garage done today. Had to take some time to join the back and the side at a 90 degree, and I got everything dug out. I still have about 10 feet or so left of "sod" to break up and reclaim as much of the mud as possible.

Once I do that I can take a look at the situation when it meets the driveway. Maybe tomorrow if I'm feeling it.

Poor doggo. :(

Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Well, I don't totally know about better. Some take longer to get used to in the role. I never liked Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. He played a later version. Now, older versions I loved Peter Davison as the Doctor and Tom Baker was the Doctor when I and my friend started watching the show. That was in high school.

The Doctors on this clip she and her room mate found had Christopher Eccelston and Colin Baker on it. I liked Eccelston's Doctor much better than Baker's Doctor but they are different time periods. *L* Colin Baker was the Doctor in the late 80s and Christopher Eccelston was the start of the new batch of actors which includes Matt Smith. The woman who played Peri was a companion of Peter Davison's Doctor, who was right after Tom Baker.

Got a phone call a bit ago. No afternoon mah jong for me. Again not enough players for 2 tables.

There is some heat heading my way by the end of the week. Temps should reach around 30 by Sunday. It will be worse in the Valley and up the Interior. Weather people expect records could be broken.

I guess if I had a Dr., Christopher Eccelston would be mine.

That was my first exposure to Dr. Who. I'm pretty sure I didn't even realize it was an old British show until many years later. They'd play it on Sci-Fi and I'd caught a few episodes, but I was like 20 years old and never watched anything weekly. So I could get the "freak of the week" stuff going on but I didn't really have any idea what's going on.

It's funny that even though I haven't watched a single episode since Christopher, I know way more about Dr. Who now because of the internet.

I just liked the dude in 28 Days Later. Thought it was cool to see him in a way different role. Never seen him in anything else after those. I'm sure he had a decent career in the UK though.

I liked Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. Thought he fit the role really well.

That sounds like how I found the Doctor. Was looking for something to watch around midnight on a Saturday night and stumbled across this show. Wondering what it was I watched and thought it's okay. So, I started watching it regularly and told my friend about and she said that her dad had been watching it for years. Then the station moved it to Saturday afternoon and we would still watch it.

Never seen 28 Days though I have heard of it but then I'm not much into horror. Think someone told me he was in Heroes. I could be wrong. Would have to look up the cast for that show. I'm sure he has had a good career at home.

Yeah. That sounds about how I found out about it too.

I just thought it was some oddball low-budget Sci-Fi TV show. I remember those evil sentient robot things that were famous from the show and just how laughably cheap everything looked. But I did like the doctor and the companion and their chemistry. I think I might have caught 5 episodes of that season and never thought about it again until 10 or so years when I found out about how big of a thing it's been for decades in the UK.

I don't generally watch the horror genre as a rule unless I get my younger brother to force me into watching something. 28 Days Later is a lot more than that though. Technically, it's not even a "Zombie" movie since these all are human beings who get infected with a lab created virus that got loose. If you watched the first episode of The Walking Dead, they got a lot of inspiration from 28 Days Later.

If you like Cillian Murphy and anything he's been in over the years, that's where he got his start.

I would highly recommend 28 Days Later if you've got nothing else to watch. I think you'll really like it. If you do, I'd also recommend giving the sequel 28 Weeks Later a watch too. It wasn't as good, and it didn't focus on anybody from the first movie, but it was still a pretty good flick and an update to that story. I hear they're going to make a 28 years later. Wouldn't mind seeing that one too if they do.

Personally, my favorite role Chris Eccleston has ever been in was playing himself last year telling his fans what it would take for him to come back to Dr. Who in 2024.

Yeah, I watched pretty well the whole 1st season with Tom Baker and from then on. I was hooked. I found out later how big a deal it was in the UK too after I started watching it.

I'll have a think about it as I think my library still has a copy of it. I got to there tomorrow as I have something to return. I am rewatching "Bon Cop, Bad Cop" again.

That clip you included looks and sounds like the clip my friend and her room mate found on YouTube.

I know next to nothing about Dr Who. Fortunately I found the CliffsNotes version

I was surprised at how short the tenure was for each Dr Who. I had an idea thst there was one guy in the role for, like, 20 years. Boy, was I wrong!

BRENDA

Back and done for today. Not a bad morning at mah jong. I got second place. Had a hand with all 4 red flowers, one dragon and what I was collecting and that was six doubles. So, I finished the morning with over 5,000 points.

Temp is reading around 26C which is 82F. So, not too hot around me.

I was surprised at how short the tenure was for each Dr Who. I had an idea thst there was one guy in the role for, like, 20 years. Boy, was I wrong!

Tom Baker the guy with curly hair was the longest on tv. He had the role for 7 seasons. He only left because of a disagreement on the direction the writers, I think wanted to take the character.
