Technically this belongs in the Israel thread, but potentially involves so many other nations it's hard to put into any other thread.

Israel has gone on an assassination spree. It's fair game that they killed Hamas military leader Mohammed Dief with an airstrike in Gaza ... of course, killing many civilians in the process... but they also killed Hezbollah leader Faud Shukt in Beirut.

Worse, they assassinated Ismael Haniyeh, Hamas' top negotiator in Tehran while he was attending the inauguration of Iran's new President. Haniyeh was negotiating a cease fire with Israel.

A timeline of events

Israel launched a missile strike against the Iranian consulate in Syria

Iran is persuaded by the USA to limit its retaliation to (mostly) theatrics ... sending swarms of drones and mostly ineffective missiles against Israel.

Having failed to ignite a full-on war with Iran, which would inevitably draw in the USA, Israel plots its next provocation. This time, they assasinate Haniyeh in Tehran. It's a big black eye for Iranian security and the new President of Iran, who MUST now respond.

It also sends a message clear as day that Israel isn't interested in negotiating.

Netanyahu is trying to do in the Mideast what Zelenskiy tried (and so far failed) to do in Ukraine: draw the USA into direct conflict with “the enemy".

So far, the USA has wisely refused to be drawn into direct conflict with a militarily competent power. But USA ships are again congregating in the area, including the Persian gulf. Iran is receiving supplies from Russia, and Israel is trying to draw Qatar and Saudi Arabia to its side.

Are we in a global conflicts, kind of so but not really so its yes and no


Syria? it seems the USA is unsure what the mission in Syria is


Europe is becoming unstable mass unrest and riots, there is a war with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The Middle East and parts of North Africa, Eastern Africa are unstable and Sub Sahara but they kind of always have been, however it has got much worse with Yemen, Lebanon, Iran.
The conflicts have avoided Asia and Latin America mostly, in WW2 there were stand off with Britain, New Zealand against the Germans in Uruguay way back in WW2, the Japanese threat US West Coast, Japan hits Australia, German U-boats attacking US East Coast and Caribbean...we have not seen it go global on this scale yet , ships scuttled, however Maduro is moving in Venezuela and Russian military ships have been at Cuba again, Myanmar is a major ongoing civil unrest and conflict, there is also India vs Pakistan in Kashmir. Africa wants the USA and French gone and the Russians in, there is also an Insurgency in Niger or jihadi group or islamists or Insurgency in Burkina Faso, Mali etc other Afro islamist War, a Sudan Civil War, Somali Civil War, Nigeria ethnic and religion conflicts and massacres, unrest spreading from Libya or Afghanistan since their fall into chaos. Mexico border invasion, drug running into the USA, Cartel infighting and hundreds of thousands of US citizens dying from drug overdose...'War on Drugs' failure.
Kurdish–Turkish islamists from the Caucasian Mountains bombing Russians, Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenians with Israel giving weapons to islamists so they can kill Christians.
Indonesia ethnic religious or political violence, Papua conflict Asia Indonesia or Thailand or Philippines.
North Korea and Belarus supporting Putin.
There is also class war, the political war of Canada's Trudeau, the British, the French against their own people.

The ONLY thing keeping us from officially being in WWIII is that the major powers - USA and/or NATO v Russia and/or China - are not YET in DIRECT KINETIC CONFLICT (i.e. a shooting war with each other).

We are as close as we can possibly be. USA troops and Russian forces are both operating in Syria, and NATO forces and Russia are both operating in Ukraine. Each side has inflicted losses on the other. The only thing keeping it from breaking out into direct open warfare is that USA/NATO keeps their ops on the QT.

But there is plenty of action everywhere. The USA is working on regime change operations in Venezuela, Georgia, Belarus, Armenia, and elsewhere, while Russia and China are expanding BRICS. Proxy states have been activated.

Israel is going nuts in the Mideast.

The "line of contact" stretches from the UN Security council and General Assembly to the central banks and the shipping lanes to the war councils on each side.


What SOME nations/ regions yearn to do is get the USA directly, militarily engaged on "their side". Ukraine, Taiwan, Armenia, possibly Poland and the Baltic states.

And this is where Israel comes in.

Israel wants the USA to destroy Iran, and USA polticos are happy to oblige. It was Netanyahu speechifying before Congress, not Biden, while Congresspeople seal- clapped his rabid ideas. It's Netanyahu who is the President of the USA, not Biden, at least AFA the Mideast is concerned.

But it appears that Netanyahu is going to start with destroying Lebanon first.

Meanwhile, Russia is helping Iran prepare for war.

Those little squabbles you mention, they're bonfires compared to the coming conflagration that TPTB want.

Who is fighting who in Syria?
The USA is fighting Iran and Russia, in Syria, using its jihadist proxies.

Biden* activates Operation Chaos against BRICS generally and Russia- dependent or Russia- leaning governments on Russia's near abroad.


USA jihadist proxies are activated in Syria, taking advantage of Assad's complacency and Russia's, Iran's, and Hezbollah's engagement elsewhere. I wonder how JSF would feel, knowing that we covertly but routinely support extremist terrorists on behalf of geopolitical goals?

USA backed regime change operation is activated in Georgia. The currently elected Parliament has delayed EU accession requests, so the (French-born, French speaking) President (whose term expires in a month) and USA -funded NGOs is calling for a government overthrow via the "democratic means" of Molotov cocktails and storming the Parliament.

Other areas ripe for regime change operations include Belarus and Moldova.

Trump is fine.
He is also your current President.
That's a stupid idea. Trump might temporarily slow de-dollarization, but by attaching so many traps to the dollar nations will eventually attempt to avoid it anyway.

The dollar was so popular is because not only was it backed by gold, and then oil, but because it could be used and exchanged freely.

You can begin to fix trade imbalances and begin to create an environment for re-industrialization with tariffs, but I have a feeling that currency flows are a different kind of cat: can't be herded.
