I'm not going to dig through 30 pages here to find the thread I made about this back when the House passed it and then it died in the Senate.

Getting rid of Daylight Saving Time will make a very large portion of the population happier half of the days out of the year, particularly right now when it's dark before 5PM. And once we do it I think Canada will jump on board almost immediately.

Good for you Don. I hope they let you do it.

Let's see Congress block you on this one and watch their single-digit approval get cut in half.

I have an even better idea, Don.

Why don't we put it to a vote?

Let the people decide.

You want to unite the country? I don't care who you vote for, chances are at least 9 out of 10 people hate losing an hour of daylight in the winter.

Why don't you put that to a vote even though you already know it would EASILY pass if you gave that choice to the people?

It doesn't matter if the vote is just a formality for something that you could get done anyhow. I'd say the potential positive benefits from doing this would actually warrant a good chunk of change be spent to facilitate it. This one thing so many people have wanted for so long.... If you gave them all the chance to feel like they had power and that their voice mattered on something that they can actually feel and experience every other 6 months for the rest of their lives? And something they can all agree on?

I couldn't imagine a better gift to give the people when you start your 1 Year Long America Party than to tell them that we will never turn the clocks back again and that The American People had their voices heard and they own this long-overdue change together.

Trying tell that to an Indian Reservation or people in Alaska who need to save what little daylight they get in winter.

Good thing the USA isn't a type of Democracy where the Government steps in tells everyone what to do...not yet...States will do their own thing a Federation of States, Federalism and rights under the Constitution or your State is supposed to have Constitution Annotated rights.... Arizona does its own thing anyways its part of their 'identity' not being able to reset the clock. It matters less in the Southern parts of the USA, Florida, California, Hawaii, Arizona but

Northern States its a big thing, Alaska you do need save daylight? Most probably yes... and North of Washington State, Michigan, North Dakota, Canadians would be awake at crazy hours of the morning without it in Summer and awake at crazy hours of the night during late sunset, it does save light in the darker norther countries when kids are going to school. One option would be to have kids go to school later in the morning when its brighter or have people follow the Sun as farmers did in the past. However its not a US dictatorship yet nor a monarchy, States can chose what they wish, even in Arizona the Natives do their own thing Navajo Indian Reservation extends into Utah and New Mexico and observes daylight saving time to coordinate tribal affairs, there is a theory in Arizona the 'cooling' is costing energy extra hour of sunlight while people are active would cause people to run their electrical cooling systems longer, thereby using more energy.

Florida has always been weird, just as it is long it is also wide like Texas, Nebraska and Kansas and Florida straddles two time zones

Logistics and Safety, they already thought this through Aircraft stay on Universal time, Airports have their own system but local people with their watches and clocks on the wall can change the clocks whatever they want in their own homes.

and Arizona doing its own thing has the truckers in New Mexico and California confused whenever the clocks change.

if youre in the equator Africa, Sudan, Angola, Venezuela, Indonesia saving daylight does matter so much when you don't have winters nor any seasons
