Quote: Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KE007/KAL007)[note 2] was a scheduled Korean Air Lines flight from New York City to Seoul via Anchorage, Alaska. On September 1, 1983, the flight was shot down by a Soviet Sukhoi Su-15 interceptor aircraft. The Boeing 747 airliner was en route from Anchorage to Seoul, but owing to a navigational mistake made by the crew, the airliner drifted from its planned route and flew through Soviet prohibited airspace over underground silos with intercontinental ballistic missiles. The Soviet Air Forces treated the unidentified aircraft as an intruding U.S. spy plane, and destroyed it with air-to-air missiles, after firing warning shots.
Quote: In 1988, a US Navy warship shot down an Iranian passenger plane in the heat of battle Iran Air Flight 655, an Airbus A300 with 290 people on board, was blown from the skies by a missile fired from the guided-missile cruiser USS Vincennes as it flew over the Persian Gulf from Iran to Dubai on July 3, 1988.

There was the allegation at the time that the KAL airliner flew over the Soviet Union on purpose, at the request of the USA, bc how else to explain their suspicious behavior? The cell phone was JUST introduced in 1983. https://www.practicallynetworked.com/history-of-the-cell-phone/ What kind of "devices" do you think passengers were carrying onboard back then?

The maneuver of the interceptor jet rolling had to be explained to me that it was showing its missiles. The warning shots were self explanatory.
