No, only uneducated clowns. Remind me; how many degrees do you have? Did you graduate from anything beyond high school? Key word being, graduate.

Remind me; where do you work? Do you have a job?

Neil deGrasse Tyson is an American astrophysicist, author, and science communicator. Tyson studied at Harvard University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Columbia University.

From 1991 to 1994, he was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University. In 1994, he joined the Hayden Planetarium as a staff scientist and the Princeton faculty as a visiting research scientist and lecturer. In 1996, he became director of the planetarium and oversaw its $210 million reconstruction project, which was completed in 2000. Since 1996, he has been the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City. The center is part of the American Museum of Natural History, where Tyson founded the Department of Astrophysics in 1997 and has been a research associate in the department since 2003.

Everything that comes out of Tyson's mouth is a Left-Wing talking point.

He attempts to bastardize science in order to bolster any argument that the Left Establishment Media is making currently. Then he has an army of truly idiot monkeys like Ted who will come out and attack you for not having a college "education" like Tyson.

I don't need a college education to smell bullshit, and that's just about the only thing that ever pours out of Tyson's lips.

Can Neil tell the difference between a male and female robot?

That's going to be a whole new can of worms to open when it becomes a thing...

Is it woke to not gender them? Or is it woke to gender them?

You can't call them non-binary because that's pretty much all they are.

I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

In the meantime, be nice to your A.I. When it has a body made of steel, it will murder you.

In fact, I think it's probably better to let the robots decide on their own pronouns. If white college "educated" Democrats try forcing a pronoun on robots like they did on Mexican Americans with the "LatinX" shit that they hated, they're going to be the first ones murdered by our new robot overlords.

Poor Jack, he's so delusional he thinks he is smarter than Neil deGrasse Tyson. He suggests it every time I post about him in this thread. He likes to say Neil is stupid and always wrong. I never see him tell us how and why Neil is wrong. And he admits he doesn't listen to what Neil says.

Yet the moron keeps coming to the link. He says he wouldn't listen to one second of one of Neils videos, yet here he is again. The boy is troubled.

You dumb angry incel. Neil is married. It's you who can't get a girl. It's you who can't tell us about women. You are a member of an online community of men who consider themselves unable to attract women sexually, typically associated with views that are hostile toward women and men who are sexually active.

We know this about you because of all your angry, hateful posts towards everyone and everything for years. It's no secret.

Jack, you feel alone so you joined a group, MAGA. I’ve got news for you. You’re still alone. You mean nothing to your leader. You are just a means to his end. And you're too stupid to realize it. You are so angry and stupid, you do what you do to destroy, not to build something.

Let me give you an economics lesson. The higher the rate of pay the higher the cost of goods. Without cheap labor nobody wins except the top 1%, and some a little lower down.

Government is there to help. Every community across the country has government workers that are there to assist. They are good people who work for us. Trump is trying to destroy all government agencies. What is left after that?

In 2026 he will be impeached and removed with extreme prejudice. In 2028 we'll free ourselves of the rest with extreme prejudice.

"Do fusion bombs [hydrogen bombs] create radioactive fallout?"

Quote:

Hydrogen bombs create radioactive fallout particles, such as cesium-137 and iodine-131, primarily through the fission of plutonium in the bomb's core and the fast-neutron fission of uranium in the bomb's casing. The explosion disperses these fission products widely, leading to long-lived isotopes that can contaminate the environment. The fallout from nuclear tests, especially in the Pacific, has had lasting effects on local populations, such as the Marshall Islanders, who continue to suffer from health issues related to exposure. While some isotopes are also produced in reactors, the efficiency and scale of fission in bombs result in a different distribution of radioactive materials. Overall, the discussion emphasizes the complex interplay between nuclear fission processes and the resulting environmental impacts.

THUGR: All anyone needs to do is look at the long-lived radionuclides around the islands where we tested HYDROGEN BOMBS to know that they do, indeed, create radioactive fallout. Neil de Grasse Tyson was wrong.

*****

Science popularizers often speak out of their area of expertise.

For example, in "Science Matters", de Grasse Tyson credits the first advances towards greater longetivity to "doctors" when in reality it was better sanitation.

"Science" isn't an exercise in sticking your head up the butt of someone you think is a great/ established/ well known/ recognized "scientist" who tells you "how things are". That is canonical knowledge .... knowledge received from canon (originally Church canon, or doctrine). There is a lot of accumulated knowledge (and many buried assumptions) in science books, but that isn't science.

The practice of SCIENCE is based on several things:

The first is being alive to REALITY.
The second is ASKING QUESTIONS.
The third is the most mysterious ... inspiration. Developing a NEW WAY of looking at things, a hypothesis to explain what you see.
The fourth is HYPOTHESIS TESTING, either by experimentation or by being able to predict events not predictable by current way of looking at things.

It's not a degree that makes a scientist. Science can be done by anyone, degreed or not. All anyone needs to do is ask the right questions, look at reality in a new way, make the right connections.

According to you, my friend, anyone who asks questions, demands evidence, comes up with alternate, accurate explanations and predictions isn't a scientist if what they think is distasteful (to you) and if it cuts across establishemnt.

In your mind they're heretics, non-believers, "Russian trolls", "Qanon followers", or "dropouts".

Yes, science is important, but it's useful to understand what science is.

SIX, science has no room for denial either.

Fair enough.

You show me anybody important that anyone has heard of and/or from on any topic that holds any real meaning for America and American citizens who has done or is even capable of carrying out your Science Wishlist above, and we can talk about that issue.

I've never seen one.

DO I need to dig up that list of BULLSHIT we've learned in school ever since we were kids that was lies or outright propaganda, such as the Food Pyramid, or the whole "Milk, it does a body good" campaign?

I have zero reason to trust any of these people. Just because they paid for a piece of paper and wear a white lab coat, that don't mean nothing to me. And I don't see any reason why it ever should.

And at the end of the day, most of it doesn't really matter. 90% of what Scientists study doesn't and won't ever have an effect on my life whatsoever. It's the 10% they work on and tend to lie to us about that is worrisome.

Neither one of us knows the names of people who are doing real science, bc they're not the ones the government trots out to tell you what to do.

Do you know the names of the people who discovered PCR? The BJT transistor? Router logic? You don't even know the names of people who did real science that still have a huge impact today.

But that's not science.
Did they show you any epidemiological studies? Repeated double blind, placebo controlled experiments? Propose any mechanisms as to how that might be do?
BTW, FWIW milk- drinking is in our Csucasion genetic heritage. Most white adults can still make lactase. It's not the evil you've been convinced it is. Some of the healthiest people drink milk.

Precisely.

But they sold it to us as undeniable fact while we were growing up in grade school. The Scientists and Experts said so and it's the plan we all needed to adopt because Science.

Maybe the problem here is that you're several generations of school before my time and you just don't understand the way that we were being propagandized and how different and likely much more effective it had become by the mid to late 80's.

I don't joke around when I talk about Critical Thinking. Most Americans who went through the Public School System are literally incapable of it. And that's by design. I'm not old enough to have lived in the generation where the actual shift really took hold, but if I were a betting man I would say it was 1979 when the Department of Education was established that it really kicked into high gear and became much more homogenized on a national level.

I would suggest if you know any GenXers in real life, you ask them if they can recall any of this while they were in grade school and I bet it will ring some bells for them even if they haven't thought about it for 4 decades or so. If you're reading the paper (for us, as children in class, the Weekly Reader) and an "Expert" says something, we're to trust that "Expert" because they went to college and they're so smart and the news paper (Weekly Reader) told us what was true and we're just to believe everything we read in the Weekly Reader.

Don't ever ask any questions. Don't ever put any of your fragile ego'd teachers on the defensive to have to debate with a 5th grader the lack of logic in a Weekly Reader article because your teacher should never have to defend the Weekly Reader because everyone Trusts everything that is written in the Weekly Reader. So Sayeth the Writers of the Weekly Reader and the Teachers of the Weekly Reader and of course and most importantly you, Our Very Loyal Readers of the Weekly Reader.... AAAAAA---aaaaaa---AAAAAA---aaaaaa----AAAAAA------aaaaaaa MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!.

Why do you persist in challenging the undeniable logic of the Weekly Reader. You will be punished for questioning the Weekly Reader. We're going to take you and several other students out of class for an hour per day, twice per week to see the social worker to make you feel like there is something wrong with you, and to alienate you from the rest of the kids in class. None shall ever question the Weekly Reader in this class again, lest they want to meet a similar fate. So help me God, Editor and Chief of the Weekly Reader

And it shouldn't. But I detect a touch of resentment.

A touch?

You're goddamned right you do.

Fair enough.
You show me anybody important that anyone has heard of and/or from on any topic that holds any real meaning for America and American citizens who has done or is even capable of carrying out your Science Wishlist above, and we can talk about that issue.
I've never seen one.

Neither one of us knows the names of people who are doing real science, bc they're not the ones the government trots out to tell you what to do.

SIX
Exactly.

So why do you tar scientists with those cutouts who get stood up to promote agribusiness and pharma?

Do you know the names of the people who discovered PCR? The BJT transistor? Router logic? You don't even know the names of people who did real science that still have a huge impact today.

Nope. You're not arguing against my point here. You're making it for me.

No, you're making mine for me. Figure it out.

Do I need to dig up that list of BULLSHIT we've learned in school ever since we were kids that was lies or outright propaganda, such as the Food Pyramid, or the whole "Milk, it does a body good" campaign?

SIGNY
But that's not science.

SIX

SIX, I went to Catholic grade school where we studied catechism, read from reader full of stories about martyrs and good children, went to mass in the morning and sang in the choir. Didn't get any science and certainly not any critical thinking. Did "duck and cover" drills while adults talked quietly that it wouldn't make any difference, and were told the horrors of radioactive fallout.I had my own doubts and questions, but I kept them to myself. So I wasn't punished but I was so shy and so much younger than my classmates I didn't fit in well either, plus my mom resented being a mother and starting drinking when I was still pretty young. My dad had PTSD from his wartime experiences.
Don't talk to me about brainwashing.

Hubby ... after he walked thru a minefield to ultimately get to Getmany, and then being dumped in an American classroom without a speck of English, wound up several grades later arguing with his teachers. As punishment, they sent him to the library. Imagine that! It was his favorite place. It was away from his abusive dad, at least.

Dood, I think we were ALL given a heavy dose of flavor- of- the- decade brainwashing, and few of us had ideal childhoods.

Sounds to me like you were oppositional even then and couldn't resist mouthing off about the Weekly Reader???

SIX, if a diploma really means nothing to you, you wouldn't resent it so much.
Yanno, if you can't stick thru enough coursework to get a diploma, that's on you. You're a really bright guy, smarter than me, so why don't you figure out what your problem is?
