His choice on movies this time since I made us sit through The Surfer last time. Doesn't matter what he picks, it's going to be better than that movie was. I'd never pay them a dime for a bag anyhow, but it feels nice not using plastic bags that end up in the trash when I'm shopping. The only place I don't turn them down whenever possible is Menards because they've got really nice bags that can be reused quite a few times before I use them for my bathroom garbage can. Yeah. My dad's not the type to make a stink about things and he never said anything shitty to me when he's come over in between, but he made a big deal about telling me how nice it looked today. I gotta hang out with him more. One of the best people I've known in my life. Triangle was good. Simple flick despite the time-loop that didn't take too much figuring to know what happened. Almost too simple for my tastes, but the pacing was near perfect and the lead actress from Australia was really good. Wrote a little more about it in the Cinema boards in the low budget thread, but I didn't want to give any spoilers. Not sure if it would be in your library or not. I'd never even heard of it until maybe 4 days ago and it's 16 years old now. -------------------------------------------------- "I don't find this stuff amusing anymore." ~Paul Simon

Gotta remember that one. Lot more important than the bags. Sometimes I've forgotten my CGM receiver when I'm out and about for a few hours and that's no good either. I do have a half a bottle of glucose tabs in the glove box though, so even without the meter I know when I'm getting low and I can take some if I need it. The only problem is the highs though. My body has no way of telling me if I get too high, at least I haven't noticed any warning signs on that other than the CGM screaming at me. That doesn't happen very often though, and since I do most of my eating at night, it's usually not a problem at all during the day and if I'm really physical it's only the lows I have to concern myself with during daylight hours. At least I've never forgotten it when I was going to meet somebody and we were planning on eating something. I don't have loose insulin and syringes anymore since the insurance won't cover that AND the pods, so without that device I have no way of changing my basal or giving myself a bolt of bolus insulin before eating, so I wouldn't be able to eat anything much but straight up meat on a plate if I did. Or do they actually bill you a $2 charge in Canada for using a cheap plastic bag and not bringing your own with you? Almost everywhere here they're free, but ALDI being the "cheap" grocery store charges you for cheap plastic or paper bags too. They do have reusable ones to buy for a couple of bucks there, but the ones I have are a lot better than theirs, so I wouldn't buy them and I just look for empty cardboard boxes or trays if I forget my own bags. Once or twice now I couldn't find any cardboard and I actually just loaded the stuff in a cart and threw it all piece by piece in my car and bagged them all up when I got home. Quote:Huh. Not sure. I've done that too. That is wow and something I don't understand about diabetes. I know I've said this before I know when my blood sugar goes low or if it is too high. That's why I have granola bars on me, incase I can feel myself going low. I eat one and then try and find something proper to eat when I am out. They are stop gap measure for me. I've tried glucose things when I was with Blair but they just at that time do anything for me. My body needs something real in it. I do what they call "grazing" now a days. I have breakfast and my morning meds. Get over to the mall and grab a coffee and something small. Then I have lunch when I am in the mall. Get home and have a snack, then have another before supper. Meds again and something to eat then something before I go to bed. Good thing you don't forget your GMC all the time. It sounds like you would be in real trouble if you did. I understand that about your insurance system down there but if you can function with the pods, then maybe that is better for you. The resuable ones from the grocery stores up here and even from the Dollar stores last for a good long time. If you buy a paper bag in a grocery store it's something like maybe a buck or less. If you bring your own bag and it doesn't matter what kind of bag it is there is no charge. The charge only comes if you buy one from the store you are in like Walmart or others. Never know about movies. Sometimes someone hates something and I watch it and like it just fine. That's great that you are reconnecting now though. No, they don't. Enjoy these times with him.

Your area must be sitting on bedrock, that's too say what is under the ground is solid. You wouldn't be able to move it anyways. Not without machinery. Yeah. Nasty little things. If I knew a few years back what I know now, I would have used quite a bit more of this chicken wire in the front. The foundation is good just because I've made it impossible for them to trench out along it. But I only put in pieces about 7" deep, perpendicular to the house every 8" or so. They can't go in a straight line, but they can go right up to the foundation and screw things up regardless. Nothing I can't tamp down, but annoying nonetheless. I'm boxing things out all around with the rest of the work, and only putting the perpendicular pieces about every 2 feet or so for good measure. My new hand shovel actually holds up to my pressure and didn't immediately get all bent out of shape like the one I got last year did. It's got a serrated edge too, and even with that it's hard to remove just a few rocks if I need another quarter inch or so for my fencing. It's not easily bendable chicken wire. It's pretty thick steel wire with 1/2" x 1/2" squares, so I don't get a lot of play if there's a few rocks making it poke out too high. If I can't move those rocks, there's no way that a mole on meth would be able to. Quote:I wonder what a geological map of your area would look like? You could be sitting on top of a geologists or a paleontologists dream. Could be. Who knows. I haven't found anything too interesting so far, and that was in the crawlspace under the porch and was man made. Found an old can of some fruit drink that hasn't existed since the 70's. I don't remember what brand it was called, but I took a picture before tossing it. Also found a metal weed pipe with a cool leather wrap in the middle that had a sweet Harley Davidson logo around it. I threw that out too, but that's kind of a shame now. Got back in with a few of my buddies a few years later and I'm sure I could have cleaned that up real nice and any of them would have loved it. Probably worth a few bucks too. Quote:It sounds like by the time you are all done your backyard will look fantastic.

I know what you mean about sick of things. That's when I go on a kind of cleaning binge. I get sick of looking at the space and away I go. Heh... I've done that myself back in my hoarder days. I'd watch a season of Hoarders and then I'd spend 3 weeks throwing crap out. Don't have much left here now but my tools and my tech, some clothes and furniture. Got a house big enough for a family with 4 kids, but it's just me here and 4 of the rooms are empty after the last dehoard. I don't want to drown the moles because they're right up against the foundation on the back of the house where I take in water. I've used smoke bombs before and those have cleared them out. But that's a huge production and I have to go next door to tell the neighbors to close their windows for 30 minutes while I'm doing it because those chemicals are super poisonous to anybody. A couple years back I got lucky and saw it moving under the sand and I was able to smash it with a sledgehammer, in a real life game of wack a mole. I'm fencing them out now though. Good news is that despite seeing new activity from yesterday in places I haven't worked yet, the two places I finished and re-graded yesterday were still pristine this morning, so I think it's working. I think I'm only one day away from putting down some rock finally. I trenched out another 80 feet and got my fencing down, and I also made marks on my blacktop driveway so I could use my angle grinder with a concrete blade to make a nice crisp edge to the driveway where it's going to meet the rocks, and then I trenched that out and put fencing down there too. I didn't notice any current holes while I was doing that today, but about 5 years ago there was a very obvious mole tunnel going into the sand from directly under the driveway, so I wanted to block all of that too. I've got pavers outside of my attached shed that the moles kind of ruined, so I was starting work on that at around 6PM, but about 1 1/2 hours into it I just wasn't really getting anywhere and wasn't happy with how they were turning out. Daylight was disappearing at that point anyhow and I figure I'll go at that fresh tomorrow. I think I want to just take them all out and start over. I can get away with raising them another 1.5 to 2 inches too, so that's what I'm going to do. I only noticed today how much lower they were than both my walkways from the driveway to the service door and from the service door to my porch, and I don't want rocks constantly piling up on them because they're so low. It will be good to have all of that higher around the porch/shed foundation anyhow. I'm exhausted. Been some rough work these last few weeks, but finally making some real progress here. Maybe I can actually get some good sleep tonight. I stayed up way too late, and I only got around 4 hours of sleep before I went back at it this morning. Usually I'd sleep in, but the cold weather isn't that far away and I'm actually kind of excited about this work now so it doesn't feel like an insurmountable chore anymore. You see any good movies recently, Brenda? I'm re-watching the TV show Fallout right now and looking forward to season 2 in December. -------------------------------------------------- "I don't find this stuff amusing anymore." ~Paul Simon

And I can't. My dad may have tried the drowning but mind we were out in the sticks and there were no holes close to the house.

So, then I work on cleaning up a spot and either throwing out what is there or if it is something that I need try to find a place for it. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. When I'm on my game, I don't do that and everything has its place, but I haven't exactly been on my game for the better part of 2 years now. There's been a few MASSIVE cleanups in between, but it really is a chore when I let things pile up instead of putting them where they belong or taking care of them right away. I've got a process for my mail and nothing goes out with my name or address. Important stuff goes in one pile and gets looked at frequently, but that junk mail has really piled up out of control a few times when I had been keeping up with that for years. I finally got caught up on yardwork besides the few lawn mowings I'll still have to do this year, and really busting my butt trying to get that landscaping in the back done, so it's still all piling up inside, but I've been having people over more often so it forces me to clean things up when I do. Maybe that's what you need. You ever invite any of the mahjong ladies over for lunch or coffee/tea? Quote:Yeah, drowning them would be a problem for you. My dad may have tried the drowning but mind we were out in the sticks and there were no holes close to the house. Nothing else seems to work besides those bombs, although I'm sure the water would work if circumstances were different. Even if it didn't drown it, it might force it out of the holes so I could get at it. I've tried all the other stuff on the market and nothing but the smoke bombs have worked. But at the end of the day I don't really care about killing it anymore. I'll just get another one in a year or two anyhow. They're very territorial, so chances are I only have one. Worst case scenario I have one in my front yard and another in my back yard. So since 1 or 2 of them are always going to make their way back here anyhow, I think it's best that I just do what I'm doing to protect the important bits like the landscaping and the foundations and resign myself to having a "country lawn". I actually have a full shape of some sort that is completely fenced in now, and a lot of that was part of its main travel tunnel. And I've caved in all the holes and flattened all the sand in there. Fingers crossed that there's no new damage there tomorrow. Quote:Sometimes it is best to step away from things and have a think on what you are doing. Yeah... Had to do it. Once you start getting cranky and frustrated nothing good comes out of that work. I should have just quit an hour earlier and started with that tomorrow. Oh well. Does this Doctor really cry every single episode? Quote:Also when I was in Alberta, I got myself the complete DVD set of Emergency. An old fave from when I was in high school. I remember watching reruns when I was a kid but most of those jokes and subjects were over my head at the time. Maybe I should watch that myself one day. But doesn't it have like 300 episodes or something? Almost seems like homework tat that point. -------------------------------------------------- "I don't find this stuff amusing anymore." ~Paul Simon
