He thought doing something like that would help. I hear ya. Moods... Been trapped in my house for a few weeks like I said, and now it's the weekend and it's in the single digits outside. I don't imagine I'll be going anywhere, even though I was hoping to hang out with one of my friends. It's going to warm up during the week though, so hopefully I can just drop by and visit his family for a while and maybe watch a movie or something. I need to get out of the house. Ever since I've been able to sit up without back pain, I've kind of dove back headfirst into my project work. Probably not the right thing to do, but I can't really seem to get myself motivated on doing work on my house at the moment, and it sure beats watching YouTube all day long. -------------------------------------------------- Be Nice. Don't be a dick.

Can't say I disagree with him. Now I feel kind of bad that I let my back thing on top of the other stuff take such a toll on me this time around and I basically stopped communicating with everyone (IRL too). I enjoy our banter, even though I can't be relied upon at all to keep it up and I just kind of ride the waves... How do you mean "beating it off with a stick"? I think that's probably a local or Canadian idiom that isn't directly translated to one we regularly use around here, maybe? Does it mean "don't beat yourself up over it"??? I've found that keeping yourself busy is always the real way of getting yourself out of a funk or at least keeping it at bay. I hope you're still writing, and glad you go out all the time to play Mahjong. I know you rent stuff frequently from the Library, but outside of that do you regularly watch TV or the internet? For me, at least, I've found that this is the absolute worst thing I can do if I'm prone in any way to sink into depression or even just a temporary funk. I don't even feel that way about video games, at least the strategic and/or puzzle games I like playing. I may not be doing anything while I'm doing that, but I'm keeping my mind active instead of trancing out and allowing whatever is playing on the TV control the direction of my thinking on a one-way basis. Something about the interactivity of video games doesn't let me fall as deep into the depths as watching TV shows and movies do. That's why I can honestly say that the amount of movies and TV shows that I've watched since I sobered up nearly 9 years ago without being in the company of others is probably less than 50 hours. It's certainly under a hundred. That's not bad, considering there's 78,840 hours in 9 years. I dunno. Not telling you what to do or telling you that it would even work, but if you do watch the boob tube quite a bit on a given day, maybe you should listen to some music and do something else for a change of pace? Quote:I hope you can get out and see your friend and his family. Talking with people in person is good. Yeah. Me too. I rarely go a day without at least talking to some people on the phone, but after this much time it's just not the same. I think the high gets back up to around 40 by Tuesday, so fingers crossed. Right now it's 7 degrees (or about -14C) and headed towards a low of -2 degrees. Yuck. Quote:Think your projects are okay at least they keep you busy and give you something else to concentrate on.
