Yeah....

Most of Ah-Ha's stuff that wasn't called "Take on Me" is pretty double plus ungood, and they're probably the least offensive.

Don't think I've heard anything out of them but "Take On Me."

But I was also thinking of the music at the beginning of the first Blade movie and the stuff in the second one where they were suppose to be in Prague. Yeah, no.

Techno is like Jazz to me. Not my thing. In some jazz songs I might be able to find a few notes that make sense but the rest is just noise. I can handle blues a little better. Jim Byrnes. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Yeah. I've only heard a few of them because of YouTube, but boy... I always knew they were a one hit wonder because that was one of my favorite songs growing up. Didn't even know they weren't from here and that English wasn't their first language. It's been a long time since I saw those videos, but I think it might be possible that the lead singer didn't even speak English and and they managed to do that. Pretty amazing.

But boy... anything else I've seen from them was not made for my ears.

It depends for me... and what the definition of Techno is. If it's got words, chances are I'm not going to like it, but there are some really cool instrumentals out there, IMO.

I hear you on Jazz. I really respect the artists for being good enough with their instruments that they can just make stuff up on the fly and riff off of each other, but I think I'd actually have to be really good at an instrument myself to be able to enjoy it. Jazz that hit the studio and got polished can sound pretty good, but the improv really isn't for me.

Never really listened to the Blues myself, unless you count The Babysittin' Blues from Adventures in Babysitting. Nobody in my life listened to it, so I really never got exposed to it. You find it yourself or did somebody you know turn you on to it?

I think this one is considered Techo, but I've always loved it.

First time I heard it was watching a 3D tech demo on a computer in Best Buy back in the mid-90's or so back when those graphics were mind blowing and the effect with this song was sort of hypnotic. I couldn't get this song out of my head but I didn't know who did it. I heard it on the radio a few years later and finally found out a guy named Robert Miles did it and I bought the single.

...

I always liked the one from the first Matrix movie too...

I think I'm getting my wires crossed here... A-ha is from Norway, but they have quite a few songs in English. Hmmmmm... I can't remember which band I was thinking about now. If I do, I'll let you know...

But yeah... Eurotrash Techno sucks...

Don't listen to it or you're going to have that song stuck in your head for a week.

I like "Take on Me." Always knew they were European and might have even heard that English wasn't their first language. I actually liked the video they did for the song. I have the song on cassette tape somewhere.

That is like Topol the lead actor from "Fiddler on the Roof" the movie version. The lead bowed out out of the stage version and he was offered the role in London, he had no English either and learned it from doing the stage play.

No, that is fair. We all don't like the same thing. Everything I've heard has no lyrics and so becomes as I said noise to me.

Like you said I can respect Jazz musicians that can sit down having maybe never met before and start playing together. It is great to listen to that. But a regular jazz band no. Like I said I might be able to find a few notes that strung together make sense but just noise. I never watched "Adventures in Babysitting", so I know nothing about it.

Jim Byrnes started writing his own music when he was working on later seasons of "Highlander". Duncan had a tape playing in his car and it was basically the song I posted here "That River." Fell in love with the song and went looking for the musician and I think I found the CD at my local library. Took it out and listened to the whole thing and was like Wow! This is some good stuff. So I bought the CD it is one of my favourites and I can listen to it over and over. I hope you have a listen to it. It is great, the rhythm of the song is so slow and it makes you feel like you are beside a slow moving river but it is talking about the Mississippi and Louisiana. There's other stuff you can find on YouTube that maybe more to your liking. Just look up "That River" and it will show you other songs from that CD.
