Keep the Shiny side up

Here’s to my father. Here’s to my cousin John – big brother in all that matters. Here’s to my uncles, and my great-grandfather. Here’s to my wife’s father, and her brother Irv. Here’s to the comrades of my youth who died half a world away, or who could not live with the scorn of those they fought to defend. Here’s to those who were lost in the horror of battle, and those who came home from the field to pass peacefully half a century later, old and surrounded by family.

Here’s to those who fought for my freedom. Here’s to those who fought so that others could freely criticize their fight. Here’s to those who were brave. Here’s to those who were scared, but got the job done anyway. Here’s to that long line that stretches from Concord to Baghdad – made up of Americans who believed we have something worth fighting for.

Here’s to those who fought for us all and who are now gone. I raise my glass, and drink it dry, and smash it – never to be sullied by lesser use.

Save me a seat, fellows. I’ll be along.

Hear him I say.

The more I get to know people the more I like my dogs.

SHINY

If I could find the beer-toasting smiley, I'd insert it here. :)
