So, I was checking out an article I found on /. and found that it was in Canton City! Thought that might raise a few eyebrows here.

Basically, as the story goes, some student was trying to crash his school's web server by getting his buddies to constantly refresh the schools web page.

First off, this is a bad idea. Secondly, let's just say it has a low chance of succeeding.

But, now here's the pathetic part. He's being charged with a felony!

According to the article, in 2005 a couple students got caught breaking into the school's computer and changed there grades. They only got charged with misdemeanors.

So then, what's up with the felony? Are they saying that a successful attempt at changing grades is less harmful than an unsuccessful attempt to crash a school's web server?

Has the world gone mad?

Personally, my favorite part of the story comes after the article got posted to Slashdot. Within ten minutes someone had figured out what school it was and posted the Web address. Within fifteen minutes, it had been Slashdotted into oblivion. I loves me some poetic justice.
