The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Fark (the WORST place for news if you have the least of inclinations to continue liking the human race).
CBC, and Globe and Mail very occasionally.

“When peace comes to mean the absence of conflict on the one hand, and when conflict with an unjust and racist political order is a moral imperative on the other, then it is not difficult to understand that the better class of human beings are, in fact, deeply committed to disturbing the peace and creating conflict.”

PIRATENEWS

John Lee, conspiracy therapist at Hollywood award-winner History Channel-mocked SNL-spoofed PirateNew.org wooHOO!!!!!!

I get my daily overdose of news from my own personal robots at www.piratenews.org, which include rss feeds from www.infowars.com , CNN and a dozen local, national and international news feeds, including Al Jazeera TV. I provide links to 100s of video downloads of censored news. The Media Mafia is paid for pathological lies. The trick to survival is to connect the dots between individual news stories, to see the Big Picture in the Real World. The Mainline Media is never allowed to do that, since USA does not have a national news media anymore - it's all mutlinational, and owned by the Military Industrial Complex that President Ike warned US about, dedicated to the overthrow of USA for the New World Order global dictatorship.

The Daily Show - I like my news blatantly fake and funny. (Of course, that would include Fox News for some...)

For serious news, I don't even trust my mother 100%. Everybody (including news agencies) have an agenda and their own perspective.

Because they try to overcome these things - I like BBC International and NPR. Of course, conservatives claim these agencies have a liberal agenda so maybe the question should be, "Who presents the news in a way that best reflects your world view?"

Or is that just another way of describing "trust". Hmmm, deep thoughts....

Now I need some chocolate!

True - sad, but true. But if you want the pulse of the infosphere, that's the vein right there. But it certainly makes you wish for the end of humanity some mornings, that's for sure.

I usually start off the day with the web. CNN is set as my homepage, then I hit Fark, then I hit a few of the more popular blogs.

Then, I turn on the television, and hit the morning national news (CNN Headline if I'm in a hurry, CNN or MSNBC if not) while I eat breakfast.

Then, I hit the local paper (not the neighborhood rag, but the big daily).

Takes me about 90 minutes, but that's my morning routine as I get ready for work. I usually hit the web again for news when I get home. I'm not much of an evening news person; I got tired long ago of a "breaking story" that had half the details corrected the next day once they got their together. I'm also a big link-clicker; someone posts a link to a news story here or in a blog thread I'll usually track it down just to get all the info I can.

Now, let me just say that while I like the web for news, I'm very skeptical. I usually discount blog news unless it comes from a verified source; "insider" is usually code for "bullshit," IMO. Even though it's a lefty blog, HuffPo is very nice for linking to major news outlets (including quite a few of the international orgs - the Guardian, the Independent, Al-J, a few Chinese and an Indian paper or two).

Generally I'm very impressed with CBC radio 2. They cover things nobody else seems to, from angles nobody else seems to. Not to mention that time I heard about pirates attacking a cruise ship off the coast of Madagascar. CBC radio 2 is fricken shiny.

REAVERMAN

I look at all sorts of online sources. Ex: drudgereport.com, worldnetdaily.com, cnn.com, foxnews.com, etc...

I compare these sites, and whatever they all agree on, I take to be fact. If a lot of online only news sources agree on something, but the mainstream media doesn't, I also take it to be fact (or at least fact-like). Everything else is questionable at best.

Sites that have very obvious biases, like worldnetdaily(conservative), foxnews(republican), and rense.com(liberal), act as filters. Its like a venn diagram. Whatever they have in common simply has to be at least very close to the truth.

You're welcome on my boat. God ain't.

2 T.V. ( Doesn't matter which channel. If something big happens, I'll watch which ever.

3 Internet

And FYI Chris, if Rush says it, he's far more right ( accurate ) than Stewart Smalley. But then, neither have news programs. One's an entertainer, and the other is a has been , washed up comedian from SNL.

I like to hold up different sources and then compare them to get a more composite view of the news.

UNREGISTEREDCOMPANION

Fox News, The Colbert Report and the Onion.

I used to love CNN when it first went on the air, but then I began to notice this disturbing trend of stories MUTATING from their original airing at night to the day shift. By leaving out a comment or two, the whole meaning of a piece was changed.

I bet most people never even noticed it, but since my work hours were weird, there were times I would watch it at midnight, some times at 6 am.

I "surf" news on the bbc website. If a news story interests me I go to other sites as appropriate. So a UK news story would probably have me look at two or more UK newspapers that I know have differing political biases. If it's US I'd probably do CNN and Fox news and then go to newspapers only as a secondary source but that's mainly because I know the various POV of UK papers and so have filters set up for them, I don't have that for US papers.

Economic opinion and forcasting I used to get from Cato and Brookings, but when they both started going doom and gloom it kind of dulled my interest.

Google News. They pull stories from hundreds of sources. Fox News to Aljazeera, Christian Science Monitor to Jerusalem Post, The BBC to The Chinese People's Daily. They'll run the headlines for a story beside other news services' headlines for the same story/topic. I like seeing the bias various entities and countries put into their news coverage (including the US).

You could not be more wrong if you tried. I'm assuming you tried to be wrong the 1st time, but even if you tried harder, it wouldn't make any difference.

I find it funny that I bring up Stewart Smalley ,who has a radio show, and you counter w/ Michael Moore, who does not.

I guess on Howard Stern we can split the difference, cause I don't see him as all right or left. He's ..well, he's Howard, right ?

BREWSKI

I tend to get my news... from everywhere.

CNN has completely turned me off ever since Faux News got on the air... I simply think they're more entertaining. MSNBC can be fun sometimes to watch simply because they tend to throw extreme political guests on there.

And as far as the Daily Show/Colbert Report, they can stick it. Last time I heard either show on the air, I audibly groaned at it's lameness...

Rush Limbaugh is good in small doses... but really only 75% of his topics bear fruit to mentioning... and then half that time he's simply reiterating the same statements over and over again.

I actually will occasionally listen to Radio Talk stations as well, and Boston has a good one - WRKO. However, at night if I'm driving home I'll alternate between music and Laura Ingraham.

Heck I may have to say I get more News out of South Park than anything. Such is life of a South Park conservative...
