I agree, but I don't like that style of interviewing at all. The first question, instead of giving the interviewee to a chance to express her opinion on the situation, is immediately used to put the interviewee on the defensive. And the interviewers then resort to name-calling pretty quickly.

What's the point of having somebody to interview on the show if you're just going to shoot them down as quickly as you can? They think it's good TV and a good chance to make themselves and other Americans look better by (rightfully) being critical of cultist nutcases such as this, but why even give screwballs such as this the chance to express their opinion on TV? Is it really because their opinion "deserves to be heard"?

Exactly my point! So why even interview her? There must be far more interesting and important issues to report on, and this was just designed to make the interviewers look like a beacon of rationality and civility, and viewers feel digusted by what sort of people there exist on this planet. It's all just pure sensationalism and the media could do without it.

Okay, I DO realise that it's Fox news, so I guess it's a stretch to expect proper reporting, let alone focus on important issues (i.e. not on what some uninfluencial cult that nobody likes has to say).

It's people like that who started the witch hunts of the Middle Ages...

I like how the newscasters would ask her an intelligent question...and she'd just go back to the same thing. Personally, I'd like to whack her across the face. It wouldn't change her opinions, but it would sure make me feel better.

I have one question for her-
"Do you know what your sin is?"

New to the 'verse but ready and more than willing to learn.

She knew what she was doing when she went on the show.

I do not like Hannity and Colmes. But in this instance more power to them.

As a Catholic and a human being, this woman and her ilk make me literally sick.

She is an abomination.

I say send them all through the Engine. But I wouldn't do that to Serenity.

I didn't watch the clip linked in the original post, but judging by the replies, it must be the crazy Phelps woman being interviewed by Hannity & Colmes, right? I heard some of it today on the radio, as an excerpt.

My reaction to that doltish woman? Kill yourself. Please. And hurry up about it. Quit littering the planet with your inbred spawn and stick to the shallow end of the gene pool, where you and your ilk belong. And I mean it about the killing yourself part. Do that, and quick.

I couldn't even finish watching it.

Did you see her creepy creepy smile? I don't even get it . . . she seriously doesn't even remotely have a point. She keeps mentioning God and Christian and blah blah blah, so wouldn't she be happy that we've embarked on an adventure to slay the Islamic enemy and kill the heathens?

Furthermore, that's tacky to do at a funeral. Had she been at my grandfather's I would have killed her. Or at least tried.

My question is this: Does she eat shrimp and other non-fish sea creatures?

GLOBLABSURDITY

I take these twisted people a bit more personal--I was married into a family of wackos a bit like this in their mentality and they can inflict pain you would never want to ever go through. The best thing I ever did was to get out--yet the scars remain. Fortunately--scars only make you a stronger person if you let them--and so--they have. You cannot reason with these people--it makes me so very, very sad.

*Never judge a book by it's movie*

SERVANTOFKUSHIEL

Forget Texas Chainsaw, Saw, Hostel, ect. These are the REAL AMERICAN PSYCHOS. I don't think i've ever seen anyone scarier than that lady. God (or diety of choice),IMO, will take all into heaven if they simply ask to be forgiven. This monstrosity has no right to defile a service of death and mourning. Also, she really has no
idea what God's plan is, because no one can mentally encompass the means of an All Knowing Entity. We simply don't have the mental capacity to know how every second of every life effects the balance. She speaks of divine rightousness, but she seems pretty caught up in her own rightousness. How can you see what the Lord's plan for you is if your eyes are clouded by hate? Hate is the Devils playground. I haven't even read the Bible and I know that duh.
Alas, I digress. My ego and anger says she needs to be killed, and this is exactly what fuels her to say the same. EGO AND ANGER AND HATE. All really bad, ungodly character traits. Please don't think I'm some holy roller because I talk about God. Trust me, I am not. I beleive in something greater than myself (hello Operative speak lol). Religious fanatics (some not all) use their faith as a shield to hide behind, because what goes on in their lives behind closed doors shames them. So many faithful <-(insert sarcastic voice), are breaking commandments left and right, they just do it very secretivly. We've all watched the news. Preists can't keep it in their pants around young boys, then they kill a nun to wash it down. Father So and So is receiving porn in his inbox. And the church pianist is stealing from the donation box. Bottom line is, everyone deserves to have a funeral in peace. These people have no right (and no matter what they say, God did not tell them that this kind of behavior is okay) to invade ANY funeral for ANY reason. It's just sacreligous. I would have opened fire with my flamethrower on them if they EVER did that to my family member. I would sit in jail and smile. My vengence is swift and hard. I'm not perfect, i get pissed. And this lady is the biggest boob for going on TV. Now people know her face and some other group of fanatics are going to hunt her down and there's gonna be a mini war. Let them kill each other off (Please God, and forgive me). I'd buy tickets to see it. Sorry for the long rant, that just set my pants afire when i saw it. Face...burning....eye.....twiching......hands shaking.

I also agree. It did not really seem like entirely fair journalism regardless of what anyone thinks about this woman's opinions. Still, I am not familiar with that show so perhaps that is their format but they seem to kind of embody that old saying that people who want to share their opinions with you almost never want to hear yours.

One thing I will say about this interview and this lady's church is that they certainly have a right to hold whatever opinions they wish (this is America of course, and, I might add, the very same America those soldiers died for) but to express those opinions during a funeral is entirely inappropriate and incredibly insensitive. There are better ways and more reasonable avenues to let your voice be heard but protesting at a funeral is really akin to kicking someone when they are down. The families of these soldiers are already grieving, there is absolutely no need to add to their heartache.

I also could not finish watching that interview. It was very disheartening.

The small church that is doing this is almost entirely made up of one family, from what I have seen in earlier reports on this. Oh, they finally got to that in the "interview".

In regards to the tone and structure of the "interview" bear in mind that this show is news commentary, not journalism. That is the difference between biased opinion and unbiased reporting. I just happen to agree with the opinion in this case, which is rare with that show.

I like the Patriotic Guard Riders that have started showing up in counter protests to drown out the nuts. At one of the funerals around 30 people showed up from her group, over 300 bikers showed up.

Ah. I see. I am not familiar with those types of shows (since I do not watch the news channels that often except for the local 24 hour news channel that is just news and weather and sports). Thanks for the clarification. Shows like that are places where expressing your opinion is perfectly valid and certainly encouraged. Not a funeral.

Ah, God bless the cavalry.

As for that bitch... seems us Christians have the same problem as every other group in this country: We just can't seem to keep the most ignorant amongst us off of TV.

I haven't posted here in a while, but this crap really bugs the hell outt me. By these people's thinking, if I shot each one of them in face, then I would reserve the right to go around saying how God didn't protect them because they weren't righteouse.

Course, most intelligent people know this. I just hate the idea of this stupid heffer giving impressionable people the wrong... impression of Christianity, or any organized religion for that matter.

Here's hoping someone shoves C4 up her crack.

I used to be in the regulars, now i'm in the National Guard. It's a step down, but I'm broken so it's the best that I could get. Plus they're letting me re-class to cavalry, so it was pretty cool to see a vid of cavalry men wearing their hats in class A uniforms, even if it was during a funeral. I ain't seen em sporting that kind of headgear since I saw "Apocalypse Now".
