Bush to protect Hawaiian islands

A swathe of Hawaiian islands are to be designated a US national monument - turning the area into the largest marine sanctuary in the world.
President George Bush is expected to announce the plans for the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands on Thursday.

The area, nearly as big as California, supports more than 7,000 species, a quarter of which are unique.

Cool. Another snorkeling destination after Madame Geezer retires. Thanks, Dubya.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Oh, about 50 tons of yellowfin and 300 tons of squid!

But seriously- I think it's a great idea. All marine sanctuaries so far have improved the fish catches in nearby areas because they give large, reproducing fish a chance to ... well, reproduce. I just hope that Dubya protects the sanctuary more than he protects our National Forests (including ANWR)

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

Was this the one Bill Clinton created that got nixed by dubya?

The catch is it looks like it's the sanctuary Bill Clinton created that got killed by dubya and then brought back to life - during an election year !

I thought something seemed fishy ....
