MISBEHAVEN

Although it’s highly doubtful that he can even write (with the possible exception of putting his “X” on those absurd “Presidential Signing Statements”), it’s inevitable that Bush will come out with his memoirs once he crawls back to Crawford in 2009.

But it’s not too early to speculate on what the most appropriate title of the Bush magnum dopus should be. Feel free to submit your own favorite.

My contribution: Something Stupid This Way Comes

Letterman said, as I remember it, " Bush is standing on third base, acting like he just hit a triple, but actually, he was born there."

No such luck... it was the low-rent version... a couple of ice cubes and a squirt out of one of those lime-shaped plastic bottles.

I have a story kinda about gin.

I went on this hellish bike ride once (I used to bike a lot) with a coworker who was up for an adventure. We biked about 75miles (45k - from Buffalo into Rochester) with at least a 40mph (24kph) steady headwind the whole way. All the while thinking, well at least we'll have a tail wind on the way back. But when we turned around to bike back the wind had shifted and sure enough, we were facing at least a 40mph headwind on the return.

About 10miles out of Buffalo we passed a billboard advertizing gin. There was this lovely photo of what looked like gin and sparkling tonic with a twist of lime. Whoever put that billboard together made it look like a piece of heaven. We decided once back in Buffalo we would bike directly to a bar for that drink. Once we had that, it would redeem the ride and make a great end to the day.

By the time we got into Buffalo we just couldn't spare the energy to go an extra mile or so down the street. We dumped into my apartment, and lay on the floor with legs propped up on the walls for three hours.

But ever since then I've had a liking for gin and tonic with a twist of lime.
