I thought I'd share these photos sent to me by a friend. Photos were taken yesterday. Pretty cool.

These are pictures of last night's mission. We flew down by the Mexican border to refuel 6 F-117's. The mission was over 4 hours long.

Each F-117 took 4000 lb of fuel. Each offload took about 2 minutes to offload the gas. That is about 600 gallons of fuel in 2 minutes.

America loves a winner!

What makes this maneuver so tricky is the F-117 pilots don't see the end of the 'boom' connecting w/ their fuel coupling. Because the coupling is behind them, they have to aim for a point on the belly of the refueling plane, and allow the boom operator to do the rest of the work. I don't know of another plane ( besides maybe the b-2 ) which has it's refueling port behind the cockpit.

Damn fine flyin', it takes.

I don't know anything military aircraft. But if I saw the F-117 on Battlestar Galactica or some other sci fi movie, I would think it fits right in and looks TOTALLY bad ass.

You should see the SR-71 Blackbird, Tash, it's even cooler looking.

In fact, there's one in the background of the Firefly episode "Trash" if you know where to look for it.

The Russians have been criticised for copying western designs, but when the're original they really are original, particulary with multi-rotor helicopters and ekranoplans such as the Caspian Sea Monster.
