I struggled on whether or not to post this. My first thought was to put it on Whedonesque, but I wasn't sure how the admins would respond.

Exactly what does this sick f**k liking Buffy have to do with him molesting little girls? Why even bring it up? I don't give a rat's ass if they crucify him (though according to the article, he got off on a plea deal), but leave the damn show out of it. Liking Buffy doesn't make one childish (and I hope to god they're not implying it contributed to him being a f**cked up bastard).

My reading is it is an incidental detail added for color. While I'd personally rather not see the association made for the obvious reasons, I doubt there's anything more to it than that. Unfortunate such a specific reference is made.

Actually that was a theme. Forbidden love between an underage girl and an adult male. It was more than a little raunchy. But you know, I bet a whole lot of people got that theme from Buffy, who never thought about going out to molest teenage girls.

Seems to me that the ponit trying to be made is that no one over 20 can be a fan of Buffy and not be susepct of some odd behavior. Buffy is, after all, a teenager/ young adults show, and not something a 'grown up' would be watching. So obviously, something is wrong here. Not because of the Buffy poster per se, but because of the age specific group that " most " view such programs to be targeted.
