Nice relative article, although somewhat biased as both parties use this tactic to a notorious degree.

http://www.alternet.org/mediaculture/66062/?page=entire

I'll also note it seems to be a fairly common tactic here.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

Unlike the Democrats, Republicans have mastered the art of throwing hissy fits as a political tool to control political dialogue.

I guess you and the writer both missed the USSC confirmation hearings, Gen. Petraus' report to Congress, etc.... That line has to be one of the all time best switch and bait lines I've ever seen. The Dems, not the GOP, are the ones who've mastered the art of deception and false indignation.

The revisionist history of what was called the Wellstone 'wake' is a classic example the Dems telling us," who are you going to believe, your own lying eyes, or what we tell you to believe ? " That this writer either believes what he's saying or that just thinks he can con the reader into believing this tripe is Joseph Gerbles scary.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

Why...how DARE YOU?!? That is OUTRAGEOUS! What right do you have to smear the brave posters with your anti-FFF lies and propaganda? Why do you hate RWED? Don't you know they're the ONLY THING standing between Inara and a burqa?!?! I DEMAND an immediate and abject apology, which will subsequently be followed by a resolution to condemn. FOR SHAME!

BTW Frem, on a more substantial note, you see this about Genarlow Wilson?

Yeah.... it's pretty much all theater. This is why democracy has become a moot exercise.

RIGHTEOUS9

Good article. Democrats have been and are such pussies.

Granted, up until most recently they've had no main-stream media outlet to even the playing field aside from the daily show,

but even with the help of a more assertive Olbermann, and a capricious Matthews, as well as numerous others who have had to pretend to have credibility by starting to attack this administration for its glaring faults,

the democrats still cower and shake at the faux indignation of the party in the minority.

Nobody can trust their own party not to trip all over themselves and instead back them up, and few of them have balls that don't shrivel and fall off when they are left to twist in the wind by themselves.
..................

I will note that democrats have attempted their own counter outrage at times, like Reid's recent condemnation of Limbaugh, a sorry attempt with no teeth...a stern letter. Republicans get to censure moveon in a democratically controled senate, and in response, Reid writes a letter to Clear Channel? He's the fucking majority leader for crying out loud.

They just don't have any stomach for the game.

...................

Whereas republicans turn anything into an unconsciounable attack.

My favorite was how they turned Kerry's words about Cheney's daughter, something to the effect of her being a strong woman who is a lesbian, pointing out the hypocracy of Bush and Cheney's message, into a personal attack on the daughter.

It was so laughably absurd, but it worked. Cheney's wife was up on stage talking about how Kerry was "a bad man".

I mean, give me a fucking break.

Honestly, I think that worked because in the eyes of the xenophobic republican(not all of you), to bring up the fact that Cheney's daughter is a lesbian, is to insult the family, is to bring up some hurful fact best left hidden in the basement closet and not adressed.

It's a personal attack to them, because pointing out that "there's a lesbian in your house" is tantamount to saying "your flesh and blood lives in sin, and the world should know it." So repubs bought it, some because it was gleeful faux outrage, others because they genuinely believed it to be a personal attack.

Eh? Fuck You, Finn.

Ain't nothin contrived about me being outraged at watching both parties drop their pants and take a hefty dump all over the one thing that gives our country any meaning or value over a typical third world junta...
(That'd be the Constitution, you clueless berk.)
While slime like you stand on the sidelines with faux news pom-poms cheering, and then have the flaming *gall* to blame the very folks tryin to put a brake on the situation for how fucked up things have gotten.

Quit projecting your lame bullshit, pull your head out of your ass an take a good hard look at the world around you outside your bubble for once, and you might comprehend where the hell I am coming from, dickhead.

If ya ain't pissed off, ya ain't been payin attention.

Also.

RE: Genarlow Wilson.

I am very well aware of it, Eric - I've been all up in their ass about it on a regular basis, but till either the Governor (via clemency) or the State Supreme Court gets off their ass, there's nothing much further that can be done in that respect.

They're hoping if they lay low it'll fall out of the media and quietly go away, but some folk ain't gonna let that happen, so anything YOU can do to keep the pressure on would be handy.

Related Thread HERE - http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=18&t=29429
And feel free to bump it to keep attention on it, if you like.

What point, other than the one on your head ?

I'm verbally pounding on you cause you're a dick, what the hell does that have to do with politically contrived outrage ?

It's not like I am shocked, surprised or horrified by your behavior, just disgusted, and those milking it for political value are always demanding apologies besides.(See Also: Stark)

Or are you so steeped in inherent dishonesty that you cannot recognize a downright intentional, outright personal flaming for what it is ?

You're being a jerk, and so I am returning the favor, and I don't think either one of us is being dishonest in our mutual dislike.

Pissant.

“Pretty personal, asswipe. And I TAKE it personally.” -- rue
